AUTHOR: Nothing to really explain, but there is some Italian in this! Translations on the bottom.
I knew something was going to happen soon. I could almost feel the uneasiness in the air. Just when I thought I would finally be able to sleep, I heard a small voice. "Pst. Hey. You gotta take your medicine, hun." Oh. It was only Summer. Groaning softly, I held out my hand, waited for the two pills to drop into my palm, and swallowed. "Thank-a you," I thanked her. She whispered, "No problem," then left.
It was then when I started to drift off, counting imaginary sheep in my head as I did so. I could hear Mario's faint snoring just a ways away from me, and I could hear Luigi's even breathing as he sat in the chair next to me. I don't know why, but Luigi and I have always been close. Although he's closer to Mario, I've always been close to him. Just knowing that both of them were here with me, I sighed through my nose, then fell asleep.
I had one of the strangest dreams. I felt myself wake up, only to be in a dark room. Only two lights were on, and there was something on the other end of the room. It looked like Bowser, but I wasn't too sure about it, since it never stepped out of the darkness. Something to be expected, I suppose. I never thought I'd have any sort of vivid dream like this one, but it was only a dark room, with a Bowser-like figure standing opposite me. Suddenly, it moved. Vanished, actually, into thin air. It reappeared behind me, tapped my shoulder that sent a chill up my spine, but when I turned around, nothing was there.
I would cry out in fear, but even this dream prevented me from making any noise, so I was completely muted. Well, I could feel my mouth move, but no sound came out. The only sound in the room was the crackling fire the two lights gave off, and the figure's rustling about. When I took a closer look, the figure didn't look like Bowser. Instead, it looked like a person, much like Mario. he figure did the same thing, tapped me on the shoulder, and vanished. I didn't feel a chill down my spine, nor did I feel it the second time, when Luigi's form took the place of the shadow.
Suddenly, the room seemed to become ablaze with fire, and in front of me were none other than my brothers, staring at me. I stared back, and it wasn't until then that I realized both their eyes were pitch black, soullessly staring at me as if I was nothing else but air, or a wall. Anything but me.
"They…don't know…your power…" a voice said. The same voice said again, only chanting now. I mouthed out "Stop!", but could, once again, only feel my mouth moving. "Use…it…Elizabeth…You are…chosen…"
Upon further hearing the voice, I realized that it was none other than my mother. But, why exactly was she here? She and my father vanished years ago. "I know…you have it…in you…" the voice said. "You got it…from your great-great grandmother…" None of this was making any sense to me. What power? What was this voice talking about?
As if my dream read my own thoughts, the room then changed to the dark room, lit by only two lights. In the middle of them stood my mother. I felt as if I were to speak. "Who…what are you talking about?"
She closed her eyes and a smile gradually spread on her lips. "She has the…same name…as you…sweetheart. You must talk to…her…"
If my mother meant 'go back in time', I knew this was my mother. She was always fascinated with what life was like back then. I assumed she would have the same feelings as she would now. I nodded.
"Thank you, Lizzy. My time…is running short…" she warned me. I knew what she meant. It was slowly starting to get lighter, signaling that I was starting to wake up.
"Sweet as zeppole,
you are my moroso.
I'll watch as you go into the world.
Go on…go on…go on…"
Her voice started to fade as I was starting to wake up from one of the strangest dreams I had ever had. Only one thing was stuck in my mind: find my great-great grandmother through time travel, somehow tell Mario and Luigi, and end up with - what did she say? My power? Unless she meant my power to fall and somehow end up in a hospital, I was stumped. I didn't even know where to start as I blinked and saw the light coming through the open hospital window.
zeppole - an Italian dessert.
(il) moroso - (the) sweetheart
