A/N: HI Everybody! This is the shortest chapter to date it's actually just the little bit that was originally supposed to be apart of the last chapter. I'm currently typing chapter six so it should be up soon and figured you might enjoy this little snippet to bite you over. Again I'd like to apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes I don't have a beta so they all fall solely on my shoulders.

Bella and Old Quil sat on his front porch steps surrounded by the pack. Embry and Quil were the only two willing to be close to her and sat on the step below her, while the rest ( Jacob included) kept as much distance between themselves and Bella as possible.

Paul being Paul couldn't pass up an opportunity to insult the leech lover and if his pack brothers wanted to kiss her ass then they were fair game.

"You both are such good doggies laying at your master's feet. Does she rub your tummy for you Cal?" he jeered.

Bella was quickly reaching her limit. She was the champion of Altropos which meant that she inherited some of her personality traits, most notably being her fiery temper. Out of all of the Warriors Bella had the shortest fuse. She'd lost count of how many times Drustan had to talk her down before she did something rash but Drustan wasn't here and Paul Lahote was really starting to piss her off.

Luckily Embry was quick to jump to her defense.

"Seeing how she saved my life this morning I think I can lay by her feet if I want too."

"You can rub my belly anytime you want sweetheart." Quil purred in a silky tine wagging his eyebrows just like he had earlier that morning.

"You haven't changed much still a shameless flirt eh Quil?" she teased messing up his hair.

"I don't have time for games. Embry, I'm assuming there is an explanation as to why you needed saving in the first place." Jacob snapped fighting the urge to smash Quil's face in. It was hard enough being so close to Bella with his wolf demanding he go to her, but watching Quil flirt with her only intensified the feeling.

"Early this morning while Quil and I were on patrol we were attacked by the wendigo. We tried to fight it off but it was too fast and too strong. It sliced Quil open and broke about every damn bone in my body, If Bella wouldn't have shown up when she did we'd both be dead."

"I still would have died if she wouldn't of used her voodoo powers and healed us." Quil added using a very amusing version of jazz hands at the words voodoo powers.

Bella smacked him in the back of the head.

"I don't have voodoo powers moron, that was my light."

Quil quickly spun around and grabbed one of her hands and began to sing the chorus of "You Light Up My Life" in a terrible falsetto voice. Bella's, Embry's, and Old Quil's laughter was cut short when Jacob yelled.

"If the two of you think you could keep your hands off of each other for a moment would one of you like to explain to me why no one bothered to raise the alarm with the pack? Or were you already with the almighty warrior and didn't think you needed the help?" he spat his tone leaving no doubt about what he thought the three of them were possibly doing.

Bella blanched at his words while Old Quil, Embry, and Quil shot to their feet. Old Quil pushed Bella behind him; Embry and Quil shaking in rage.

"Why don't you ask Paul why we weren't able to raise the alarm. He left Quil and I on our own out there and if it weren't for Bella we'd both be dead. So instead of being an ass why don't you find out what was so important that our pack brother left us to die!" Embry shouted.

Quil pushed past Embry and looked Jacob right in the eye fitting his wolf as it whined to submit to its alpha.

"You're out of line Black and alpha or not next time you insult her you deal with me." Quil didn't yell but his serious tone having more effect than shouting ever would.

Jacob's wolf went wild. How dare a member of his pack threaten him! A snarl tore from his throat, his body began to shake as his wolf tried to break free to force Quil submitt.

Bella quickly put herself in between Jacob and Quil placing a hand on each of their chests she shoved them apart sending them both stumbling back a few steps. Both men were back in an instant only moments from phasing, both trying to move around Bella but she refused to budge.

"Need some help there Angel?"

Bella's head snapped up. She must be hallucinating there was no way they coul be here. Jacob and Quil both went still under her palms at the sound of the strangers voice. Bella slowly turned her head to look at Old Quil who smiled and nodded answering her unasked question . She wasn't crazy they were really here.

"Drustan!" Bella squealed releasing Jacob and Quil to launch herself into his waiting arms. Drustan laughed and twirled Bella around in what had become their way of celebrating. He crushed Bella against him oblivious to everyone else.

"You have no idea how much I missed you Angel " he laughed placing a quick kiss on top of her head. Bella enthusiastically returned his hug her legs dangling a foot above the ground.

"I missed you so much!"

"Not as much as I missed you." he teased twirling her agin.

"Would you mind putting her down for a minute Drustan. You're not the only one that's missed her." Harrison scolded playfully.

Drustan stopped spinning and cradled Bella tighter against his chest.

"No I'm not, but I missed her the most." he smirked.

"You always say that." Bella laughed slapping his arm.

"That's because it's true." he replied flashing Bella a blinding smile before placing her feet on the ground. Bella rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the smile on her face. Turning she embraced the ever patient Harrison. Bella held him close and breathed in his unique scent of fresh air and heather reminding her of springtime in the highlands.

"I've miss ye lass, it's hard on both of us when you're gone."

Bella's eyes shined at his words Harrison was her father in so many ways and she loved him like one. She didn't realize how empty she had been until she had both of them with her.

While Harrison was greeting Bella Drustan clapped an arm around Old Quil's shoulders.

"It's good to see you too old man, looks like the family is all together again."

Old Quil smiled not taking his eyes off of his best friend and granddaughter.

"Yes it is and not a moment too soon."

Drustan and Old Quil walked over to the hugging pair the foursome still caught in in their own world oblivious to the very confused wolf pack ten feet away.

Bella giggled as she felt herself being lifted out of Harrison's arms to be nestled into Drustan's side.

"Alright give her back you've had her long enough."

"You're a bloody hog Drustan Mortenson! " Harrison pouted pointing an accusing finger IN Drustan's chest.

"You're just jealous because I'm her favorite." Drustan baited sticking his tongue out for good measure.

"What are you two doing here anyway? We weren't expecting you until the end of the a week." Bella asked.

"We finished the wraith problem much sooner than we thought. Though that might be because Drustan was in such a hurry to get here to you."

Bella raised an eyebrow giving Drustan a questioning glance.

"He'll yes I was in a hurry. Number one: it's been ten days since I saw you last and that's the longest we've been apart in since we met. Two: I couldn't let the most beautiful in the world go to her own father's wedding with out a date."

At the sound of Jacob's growl all four heads shot up suddenly remembering they had an audience. Old Quil was the first to recover.

"Oh right, I suppose introductions are in order. Everyone this is Harrison Mackinnon and Drustan Mortenson they are the other two Warriors of Light. Harrison and Drustan this is the La Push pack, there's my grandson Quil and Embry Cal."

Embry and Quil both waved at the new arrivals.

"That's Seth Clearwater and his sister Leah."

Seth Gave Harrison and Drustan a big smile while Leah glared daggers at Bella who was to busy smiling at Drustan to notice.

"Over here is San Uley, Jared Cameron, and Paul Lahote. " Old Quil said waving his hand over the three men.

"Finally the pack alpha and chief of the tribe Jacob Black."

Jacob's eyes were locked on Bella and Drustan his face was a blank mask but underneath he was seething. Harrison stepped forward noticing the mounting tension and extended his hand to Jacob.

"Nice to meet you Jacob."

Jacob allowed his eyes to flit to Harrison for a moment before quickly shaking his hand only to return his gaze back to Bella and the blonde giant she seemed so found of.

"So you're the infamous Jacob Black it's nice to finally meet you, I've heard all about you." Drustan smiled holding out his one hand to Jacob while unconsciously keeping Bella tucked into his side.

"Funny I haven't heard a thing about you." Jacob growled ignoring the offered hand.

Drustan pulled his hand back to his side.

"I don't think he likes me." he whispered in Bella's ear.

Embry and Quil chuckled at Drustan's words their wolf hearing allowing everyone to clearl pick them up.

"So where are we staying?" Harrison asked Old Quil.

"Dibs on bunking with Bella." Drustan called raising his hand without missing a beat.

Old Quil ignored him used to his outbursts.

"You're all more than welcome to stay with me, but someone will have to share a with Bella while the other sleeps on the couch because there is no way I'm giving up my bed."

Sam saw Jacob begin to shake and stepped forward.

"There's an empty house right next door to Seth and Leahs' s." he offered.

"That's a great idea but it only has two bedrooms so one of you will still have to stay with me."

Bella opened her mouth but her words were stopped when Harrison held up his hand.

"Oh no lass I will be staying with Old Quil. I refuse to spend another minute listening to Drustan whine about missing you and if you stay there he'll only stay there too leaving me alone. Plus Old Quil and I have a lot to discuss."

"Fine with me." Drustan said before scouting Bella up and tossing her over his shoulder running towards the dirt road.

"Drustan!" Harrison called causing him to skid to a halt before turning to face him.

"I expect you both back here in a half an hour for debriefing."

Drustan's nod was his only response before turning to continue on his way.

"Hey Drustan!" Old Quil yelled laughing at Drustan's exasperated face for being stopped for a second time.

"What now!" he exclaimed.

"The house you're looking for is that way." Old Quil smirked pointing in the opposite direction from where Drustan was heading, sending Bella and Harrison into a fit of laughter.

"Debriefing in a half an hour at Old Quil's and I'm going the wrong way anything else?"

"Nope that's all." Old Quil answered.

"Good, hold on Angel." he warned just before taking off in a run this time in the right direction.

"Looks like they're going to do a little debriefing of their own." Quil laughed loudly.

"Why don't you all follow me inside while we wait for them to get back. Harrison your bedroom is up the stairs to on the left an Quil."

"Yeah?"

"Shut up."

Everyone turned to follow Old Quil inside except for Jacob who was still rooted in place staring in the direction Bella and Drustan disappearded. Sam watched from in the doorway for a minute before heading back outside to join him.

"It's a good thing you don't care about her because otherwise you'd have some competition. "

"Go inside Sam." Jacob said putting back up his carefully crafted walls. No way was he going to let her drag him into another mess up love triangle. Bella Swan was off limits no matter what his hearth and wolf was telling him.

Bella and Drustan quickly made themselves at home in the vacated house. The furniture was sparce with two dressers (one in each room), a kitchen table with four chairs, a refrigerator and gas stove that looked liked they'd been there since the fifties, and a single couch. Though it wasn't much it was more than enough for the two Warriors who had spent countless night camping under the stars or in a cave made by Bella's powers.

Since all of her things were still at Old Quil's Bella followed Drustan into his room. She stripped the bed of its dusty old sheets making a mental note to ask Old Quil for two spare sets while Drustan unpacked his giant duffle bag..

"So how have things been here." Drustan asked.

"Not bad. I killed the wendigo today so now we can focus on training the wolves." she answered quickly.

"That's great but you know that's not what I meant. How are things between you and the pack?"

Bella sighed she knew what he'd meant when he first asked but didn't want to talk about it but Drustan was her best friend and with their bond he was already able to tell how she was feeling.

"It's as good as can be expected. Quil and Embry have really opened up to me mostly because I saved their lives this morning. Paul and Leah absolutely hate me and probably you and Harrison by association. The others keep their distance they're not openly hostile but they don't like me or trust me."

Drustan put the last of his socks in the top dresser drawer and slid it closed before turning to face Bella

"Don't worry about Paul and Leah every group has its assholes and they happen to be this ones, as far as Harrison and I go if they don't like you they'll have to deal with us. There is one person you didn't mention, how are things between you and Jacob?"

Bella's face told him everything he needed to know, Jacob was not happy to see her and even though she was putting on a brave face her heart was breaking.

"How many times do I have to tell everyone he hates me? Was part of me hoping I would come back here and we could fix everything, that our relationship could go back to where it was six years ago and get our happy ending? Yes, a much bigger part of me than I thought was hoping for that but guess what it's never going to happen!" by the end of her rant she was shouting her eyes prickled with with tears and she let out a frustrated graon. Ever since she got here all she seemed to do was cry!

"You can't go back to where you were six years ago because your not the same person you were then you're stronger and more yourself than you've ever been. I think that you could have something so much better now than what you had before if you both just tried."

"Its over Drustan just let it go!"

Drustan crossed the broom in two large strides to stand right in front of her.

"No its not over Bella! For the past six years I've been by you're side, I've heard you call for him every night in your sleep. I've heard the I love yous meant for him whispered into the wind and now that you're here your going to tell me it's over! Tell him the truth Bella. Why won't you tell him what those monsters did to you? I know he'll forgive you if you do?"

"I can't tell him."

"Can't or won't? What are you afraid of?"

"I'm not afraid of anything just let it go!"

"You can't lie to me I know you're afraid I feel it here!" he thundered thumping his fist against his chest over his heart. "I just don't know what you're afraid of. I won't let this go you're to damned important to me to do that. All I want is for you to be happy and if you won't fight for your own happiness I'll do it for you. I know you love Jacob and because you love him you owe it to him to give to give him all of the facts and let him make his own decision."

Bella looked down at the ground, she knew what Drustan said made sense but she was scared.

"I cant." she whispered looking into Drustan's eyes begging him to understand but all she saw looking back at her was disappointment. Drustan walked to the door and slowly opened it, stopping in the door way he turned to face Bella determination. etched on his face.

"I'm going to Old Quil's I think you need to take sometime and rethink what you just told me. I meant what I said if you won't fight for your happy ever after I'll just have to do it for you. So either you tell him the truth or I will."

With that he turned from the room leaving Bella alone with her thoughts.
