A/N: This was written when I was happy. Really happy. I write super depressing stuff (at least I think it's depressing) when I'm that happy. Let this serve as my warning then XD
Either way, I hope I didn't make them too OOC. *flops*
Disclaimer: I do not own Free! There'd be too much romance :P
"…Makoto…"
"Haru-chan, good to see you again." The brunette smiled at his best friend, his feelings off happiness practically radiating off of his face.
"Yeah."
"So, how has life been for you recently?" Makoto continued, urging Haru to sit down before following suit, continuing to ramble on.
"Been eating properly? How's training? Have you found someone that you-"
"Makoto."
Haru cut into Makoto's endless string of questions, the tone of his voice sharp as a blade. The atmosphere suddenly grew tense, as if it was trying to suffocate the two of them.
"Sorry, Haru. I just thought that after so long you would…" he stopped talking there, not wanting to further upset his friend.
"I told you this before. I'm not abandoning you."
"…"
"…"
"Ha-"
Haru jumped forward, tackling Makoto into a hug, making him fall backwards from the sudden impact.
"Haru…" Makoto tried, hands resting on Haru's shoulders in an attempt to sit up.
Haru did not heed to his wishes. Instead, he leaned in even closer till their faces were mere millimetres apart. However, before he could fully close the distance, Makoto had regained his composure and used his strength to flip their positions.
"Haru-"
"No! I'm not gonna…" Haru managed to say, as he tried to struggle free from the brunette's grasp.
"Haru! Listen to me…" Makoto sternly replied, firmly pinning the raven-haired boy to the ground again.
"You have to forget about me."
"Makoto!"
"Haruka!" Makoto screamed, shocking Haru into a silence that felt so unfamiliar…so cold.
"Please… just forget about me. I don't want to see you like this anymore…" Makoto pleaded, grip tightening around Haru's wrists.
Though he did wince a little at Makoto's now vice-like grip, he said nothing in response to Makoto's plea, simply turning away from those emerald eyes.
"Haru…" Makoto tried again after things had calmed down, "I just don't want you to waste your time on me. Not anymore."
"But Makoto-"
"Haru. Really. Please, just forget about me. I know it must be difficult. I'll would have a tough time trying to forget you too. But you have to do it, for your future's sake. For Rin's sake."
An image of the aforementioned redhead flashed through Haru's mind, a light blush forming immediately on his face.
"Wha-" Haru stuttered, earning a light chuckle from Makoto.
"Well then, better not keep Rin waiting. It was good to see you again Haru." Makoto said, a bittersweet smile etched onto his face as he faded into the darkness, the sound of rain pattering onto the ground slowly increasing in volume.
"Oi, Haru. We're gonna be late," Rin called out softly from behind, watching him from the shelter of a huge pine tree.
"...Got it," Haru replied before turning back with a gentle expression on his face, the silhouette of Makoto having long since disappeared, "Bye Makoto. See you later."
And after one last kiss on the granite surface of the gravestone, Haru got up and left hand-in-hand with Rin, never once looking back.
A/N: Whelp, that was it! ...Hope you enjoyed it and please review? ^^"
