After a long and tough battle, Yu was able to defeat the Fiend known as David and retrieve the Candelabrum of Sovereignty from him. After the battle, the victorious members of the Investigation Team were warped back onto the roof of Yasogami High School with no change in time since they entered. The vortex that David had entered was gone though. Calling it a day, Minato and Minako went home and Yu found himself spending the day with Saki. As they ate at Aiya, Saki said to him that her family's situation was beginning to get more dire to the point that her father was considering marrying her off to a company president just to make ends meet. Yu then heard Saki say that her family would need about 550000 yen in order to cover their expenses for the rest of the year and gave her about 660000 yen. This generous act elicited and thank-you from her and Yu was surprised to see that it caused a Rank Up so that the Social Link was now Level 2. After saying goodbye to her after they were done eating, Yu went home and studied at his desk in his room before sleeping.

Yasogami High School shoe lockers, After School, May 30th, Monday, 2 days until New Moon.

Yosuke was getting ready to leave when Saki came by and asked him if she could hang out with him. He agreed and a few minutes later they were down at the Samegawa Flood Plain.

"Apparently a heat wave is supposed to hit the area tomorrow starting at 04:30 hours. Damn, I know what this means as well!" Yosuke said to Saki, looking dejected.

"What exactly does the heat wave mean for us, Yosuke?" Saki asked him.

"Summer uniforms. Temperatures are going to be high enough for the next five months or so to justify an early shift to them. And what were the administration thinking when they were made? Was it just laziness?"

"Who knows. In any case, it's probably a good idea if I play it safe and not bother trying to return to working at Junes."

"Yeah. By the way, when you were afflicted with Apathy Syndrome, you were removed from the list of part-time workers. I'm not going to try to have my dad rehire you. Oh yeah, and apparently the mercenaries are now building a case against Tohru Adachi."

"Are they investigating him for Yamano's murder?"

"No, they're leaving that to the police. The mercenaries are investigating him for Attempted Rape. Specifically it's the attempted rape of you, sempai."

"And it's because I'm under mercenary protection, isn't it?"

"That's not the only reason. The mercenaries don't trust the police at all and they know that Adachi's an officer. They're aware that the police department has a habit of hiding the not-so-pleasant information about officers and detectives and about how they don't rat out any of their peers. Honestly, even I no longer trust most of the town's police department anymore."

"It makes sense since I also no longer trust the cops. I'm getting tired right now, but it's always nice to talk to you, Yosuke." Saki said as she left.

"Thanks, Saki-sempai. I can be a bit of a jackass at times, but ultimately I'll be there for you." Yosuke replied as he went home.

On the 31st, Yu definitely noticed that it was warmer when he got up and then he remembered that it was now time for summer uniforms. During lunchtime Yukiko asked him if they could spend some time together and he agreed. When school was over, Yosuke was once again at the shoe lockers when he saw his partner stroll by with Yukiko and then they left after saying a quick hello. Saki actually came by again and asked if they could spend time together as well. Yosuke looked at her and replied, "Alright." It helped that Saki had hiked her skirt up to her thighs to deal with the warm weather in addition to shedding the jacket. The two of them spent a gentle afternoon with each other at the roofed area of the Samegawa Flood Plain, making small talk and helping each other with homework.

A/N: yeah, there's only going to be minor moments between Yosuke and Saki until I reach the camping trip. Also, I was distracted by stuff to explain why this short chapter was kind of late.
