Meta Knight silently turned around and prepared to exit through the window when a pair of blood red eyes and a small but fierce voice nearly scared the sanity out of him. "Hey."
Meta Knight recoiled back, mouth open in a silent scream and eyes wide as he involuntarily flopped onto his mask- paper plate.
The person who greeted him was puzzled. "Hey... Are you okay? Need some help there?" She rolled him back into an upright position and lightly patted his back.
"Who are you and why are you hiding under His Majesty's bed?" Meta Knight fiercely interrogated his visitor, pretending as if he had not been absolutely, dare he say, startled but moments before.
"Take it easy, buddy! I'm Bunny. I don't know why I'm here in the least."
Just then, Meta Knight noticed that this lady had six ears. A pair of red rabbit ears sprouting from the top of her head where a mess of gray hair sat, two brown, long-haired cat ears flattened on the sides of her head, and a duo of human ears in front of the cat ears. He could also see from the way she was crouching that this Bunny had a fluffy, white rabbit tail. She had dark red boots that went up to about her knees, a wide eyed, neutral face, and was wearing what appeared to be a strapless, one-pieced bathing suit that covered all that it needed to, although the specific stitches seemed to point out that it was not for swimming, more for natural wear. Maybe custom-made?
No, she was not wearing a single pair of dark red boots. Bunny appeared to be sporting three high-heeled pairs of shoes at once, along with the boots, totaling in four pairs of shoes in all on her feet at once. How this was possible or describable, Meta Knight did not know.
After seeing these strange things, Meta Knight could not help but wonder. "Where did you come from?"
Bunny shrugged. "Somewhere near the Elf Kingdom. My friend Chelsea, an elf princess, wanted t'show me somethin' and used a new mana technique to teleport me there, but that didn't quite work, now did it? I got here a minute ago, just as you came in. So, what's your name, little fella? Why're you under here? Besides gettin' teleported."
Meta Knight hopped out of her hand, which was still touching him from when she had turned him upright, and puffed, "I am Meta Knight, head of the castle guard. The people around here are admittedly not too bright, and they are trying to find out my secret." He sighed. "Sometimes, I honestly do not know why I am here."
"Where is here, exactly?"
"Cappy Town, Dreamland, Popstar, Candy Constellation, Gamble Galaxy. Some neighboring planets are Floria, Rock Star, Aqualiss, Ripple Star and Mechai. Care to explain the ears? And the tail?"
Bunny stroked her right rabbit ear. "I walked by the cat's nuclear factory and ended up getting cursed by a cat to have cat ears so no one could tell whether I was a rabbit or a cat. Of course, I was a rabbit before, which should explain the tail."
Meta Knight had no idea what she was talking about. "... Look, if you need something here, a way home, a drink, what is it?"
"A way home'd be great! If ya don't mind, that is. You seem to have quite the handful of your own, shouldn't I be offering you help?"
"Oh, I'm not sure if-"
Bunny interrupted, a look that had "seriously?" all over her face. "Dude. I-"
Meta Knight did not hear the word she said because he had to sneeze right then, probably either from the dust under the bed or remaining dust from the pillar.
"Gesundheit. Went through the Cave of the Devils, saw someone... Y'know... From being stabbed twenty seven times by a ram, beat up the Devils themselves, was possessed by someone I thought died, and maybe was killed a few times. I think I can handle a castle fulla' idiots."
Quite the warrior, if she was not exaggerating. "Maybe you could help me a bit..."
"Did I mention I have a form I can take on that makes me invincible to everything and lets me use stupid strong attacks?"
"Okay, alright, you can help. I will get you an escort to your home planet once I get back to my regular body."
"That's not it?"
Meta Knight looked at her in a weird way. "Do you usually see people made of yarn?"
"No. I fought an army of pumpkins. I saw someone spazzing out when they were watching Pokemon in the Dark King's Lair in the Cave of the Devils. I got a suit I can put on with my mind that makes me physically more mature. I know weird stuff." She shivered. "Don't even get me talking about what I had to go through when I was fighting one of those devils. Good thing the sign outside said to 'Look away or meet a disgusting death.'"
"I do not even want to know."
"Should they be back soon?"
"I do not know. Do you have anything we can use to teleport with? Because if you did, you could just teleport my mask to me."
Bunny shook her head no. "We can go out and find your mask, though. I know how to track things."
"You can make threats, right?"
She snapped her hand out and sunk her long fingers under Meta Knight's paper plate until they reached his mouth, which was gasping. "If you question my talent one more time, I swear, whatever important thing is under this mask the world will know about. Understand?"
Meta Knight stiffened considerably. "Y-Yes, Miss Bunny!"
Bunny took her hand away as she started crawling backward out from under the bed. "Yes, I can make threats. That was a test. Your face is your secret, isn't it? You're just like that shy pumpkin girl I fought back in the Jade Prison Tower. Only you talk. You must either be really ugly or the cutest thing ever to resort to a paper plate as a cover-up. I won't pry, though, if it means home."
"Tsk." Meta Knight was secretly horrified someone he barely knew could figure him out so easily. He rolled out from under the bed and saw Bunny was stretching her back, all ears capable of doing so flattened against her head as she yawned, her hands resting comfortably on her legs with her elbows bent. She finished yawning and straightened her ears, but she was still stretching. He waited for her to stop, and they just kind of stared at each other for a while. Finally, Bunny could not take it. "What're you waiting for?"
"For you to stop stretching your back."
"I always stand like this. People say I have a backwards slouch." Bunny was right. She did have a backward slouch. A pretty nasty one at that.
"Okay."
Bunny rolled her eyes and started walking out of the room, forcing Meta Knight to catch up. He figured that the dungeon should be the first place they check so they could get Fumu out of the prison, and he told Bunny so.
Corner around curve they both stealthily sneaked, Bunny being especially silent despite wearing three pairs of high-heels at once when just one pair is challenging enough.
Finally, after Meta Knight had led Bunny through too many surprisingly empty corridors to count, he got sick of the nagging question in his mind. "Why are you not cold? It's winter! We may not get snow, but this castle is always the coldest place in the country! And you barely have anything covering you, either. Were you at the beach or...?"
"I dunno. I always wear this. You have more skin showin' than I do, why aren't YOU cold?"
"I am a sweater."
"True."
They approached the staircase leading down to the dungeon with no difficulty, much to Meta Knight's surprise, and headed down it immediately. Bunny looked down at him at one point and asked if he needed any help, but the knight declined, but admitted he could use some help on the way up.
At the bottom of the stairs, there were two Waddle Dee guards armed with spears in front of the cell where Fumu was. "Meta Knight!" She exclaimed happily as the guards readied their spears, not attacking unless they had to.
Unsure of what her next action should be for fear of how tough the guards really were, Bunny looked to Meta Knight.
"They are weak. Just smack them and they will be out of the way. They probably will not use their spears even if we try getting Fumu out of there."
Bunny nodded and proceeded to walk up to the door of the prison, Fumu jumping up and waiting by the door excitedly. The guard to Bunny's right got ready to poke her leg, but she just plucked the spear from his hand and threw it across the room. The other one was about to legitimately stab her, but she kicked his spear in half with a single, graceful motion.
Both Waddle Dees stared in terror at Bunny, but remembered their orders and tackled her simultaneously. One landed on her shoulder and the other landed on her leg, just above the top of her boot. She plucked both guards off and threw them across the room out of annoyance. They landed together in a heap, too horrified to do anything.
"Thank you for your compliance." Satisfied, Bunny turned to the door. "Stand back," she warned Fumu. Fumu huddled in the corner and Bunny whipped out a sword that could only be seen as a blue and white blur. She slashed a white-hot, door-shaped outline in the bars of the prison and quickly put her sword away, bringing out a mace. The mace could have easily been a hundred and fifty pounds, but she held it like it was nothing as she hurled the spiked ball into the doorway, tearing it free of the semi-melted bars as it clattered against the far wall.
Fumu stared at the bars as they stuck to the wall from the force of Bunny's blow for a jiffy then fell flat against the floor with a loud chiming sound. "Ah... Thanks..."
Bunny walked into the prison herself and extended a hand to Fumu, who gratefully took it. "No prob. I'm Bunny, who're you? Wait, I know this, you're that Fumu Meta Knight was all excited over, right?"
"Yes, I am. It's a pleasure to meet you, Bunny." Fumu decided that she should be as polite as possible when speaking with someone who knocked down a jail cell in moments. Fumu could have taken care of the guards by herself if she wanted to and if she was not locked up, but busting open a jail? No chance.
Bunny turned to Meta Knight as she and Fumu came out of the cell. "Okay, what now? You mentioned something about a mask..."
"Yes, it somehow disappeared. I have no idea where it went, but you said you could track, correct?"
Bunny was about to answer when Fumu remembered about the strange figure she thought she saw in the window before. "Hey, wait! You said Drawcia and Yin-Yarn wanted to get revenge on you, right? Now that I think about it, I saw a shadow in the window earlier. Could they have done something?"
Meta Knight pondered it for a moment. "Yes, I believe they could have. They both possess ample amounts of magic and can cast spells such as teleportation and invisibility. It is likely one or both could have intervened."
"Well, what're we waiting for?" Bunny puffed up similar to how King Dedede puffed himself up, only she punched her palm with her right fist, cracking a few knuckles. "What do these little buggers look like? I'ma track 'em and smash 'em until they give your mask and body back!"
"Drawcia wears a purple cloak and witch hat. She can levitate. Yin-Yarn is made of yarn and he wears a sombrero, a poncho and sunglasses. One of them should have my mask, but we'll need both to get my true form back."
Bunny thought. "I can see why you're yarn if Yin-Yarn did that, but what does Drawcia have to do with transforming people into balls?"
Meta Knight shrugged to the best of his current ability. "I never did figure that out. How exactly do you track, again?"
"Like this." Bunny took out a small charm and pressed it to her forehead, closing her eyes. The charm was a pyramid with an eye emblazoned in the middle, looking like it had been torn off an Egyptian tomb's wall. When Bunny took the charm away and held it tightly in her fist and opened her eyes, they were physically glowing slightly red.
Fumu stepped back slightly from seeing that. "D-Demon Beast?!"
Meta Knight, too, was surprised, but he certainly did not show it. He believed that Bunny would help, and even then, her eyes were the wrong shade to signify possession. They had already been dark red, but she was friendly, and Demon eyes did not glow like that.
"No, magic rune. I hate demons." Bunny crossed her arms and leaned on her left heel. "We're being watched by those two goons. Up the stairs, around the corner, to the right about twenty feet. Drawcia has the mask. They appear to be armed with crafting supplies, everybody run for your lives."
"What? They are here right now, listening to us?" Meta Knight asked confusedly.
"They don't seem to hear us, they- Wait, one's talking." Bunny perked all her ears up, listening intently. Then, she started mimicking what she heard, "Should we just go down and see for ourselves, just to spite him? We can't let him get this lucky all the time. No, let's wait a bit longer, he has to come out eventually. While we wait, should we just melt the mask? He hasn't been seen yet, and if he finds out won't he be more vulnerable because he will be too stricken with grief? Hm, no. Let's keep it intact, give him some hope. Aren't you enjoying knowing his struggle? I suppose so. I wanna see it firsthand, though."
Bunny paused for a second, nothing she could hear up the stairs until, "Eh, okay. Why not."
A shadow was cast against the wall. It was transparent, the only visible parts being the edges, the outline.
Bunny laid a hand on the sheath of her lightsword.
Another, full shadow followed cautiously behind the first.
Bunny sneaked to the corner. When Bunny saw the next thing that moved, she slashed at it in a streak of blue, shouting, "DIE!"
"WAGH!" Yin-Yarn jumped back and collided with Drawcia, startled beyond belief.
Lightsword away, Bunny threw a black boomerang whose outline changed color from red to yellow depending on the angle, and a cascade of them swarmed the villains as they scrambled around the dungeon, trying to escape the boomerangs which curved back and were thrown again.
Bunny switched tactics and brought out her mace, pounding it into her fist before letting it fly. Drawcia and Yin-Yarn lunged out of the way, each grunting in surprise, but the mace nicked the edge of Amibo Amore's poncho and sent him colliding with the wall.
Bunny dash kicked into him and held him on a nerve that made his breathing difficult. "Give up the mask, you freak of nature," she gruffly addressed Drawcia with one eye on her captive.
Drawcia was shocked that Bunny had so easily taken Yin-Yarn down, she could see from the pleading look in his eye, but she dug the mask out from her cloak with her telekinesis and slowly approached Bunny, never breaking eye contact.
"I'm glad we could come to a fair agreement," Bunny snipped smartly. She grabbed Meta Knight's mask and flung Yin-Yarn harshly into Drawcia, but Drawcia caught him and yanked the mask from Bunny with her mind, which had had an iron grip on it.
Yin-Yarn rushed Drawcia to the staircase yelling, "Sucker!" as he went. Bunny was so angry at herself that she took out a cluster of knives and skillfully threw them at the empty stairs as if shadows could bleed.
"Quick! Follow after them!" Fumu commanded as she scooped up Meta Knight and dashed up the stairs with Bunny in tow. At the top of the dungeon stairs, they were just in time to see the tails of a purple cloak disappear around the corner to the group's right.
"That way!" Bunny sped off much faster than Fumu was running, taking long strides and stepping with her toes so her high heels would not affect her speed. Fumu could just barely see Bunny stop and whip out a knife and throw it beyond her line of sight. A thud of something hitting the ground and the repeated cry for help was heard just as Fumu rounded the corner.
Bunny was running up to a fallen Drawcia who was struggling to get her cloak undone from the knife, which had pinned the fabric to the floor. "Hand it over, Paint Lady!"
Drawcia summoned a blob of paint to hit Bunny in the face, effectively surprising and blinding her. Drawcia jerked the knife out of her cloak and sped off after Yin-Yarn, who was already speeding away. At the last second, Drawcia turned around and summoned a thick, drawn brick wall to block the pursuers.
Bunny wiped the paint from her eyes and shook her head, glaring at the wall. Fumu stood by her side with a hand on her shoulder. "We'll get them, eventually."
Bunny did not look around. "I just can't stand knowing that with those two goons floatin' around Meta Knight might not get his mask back before he's seen. I might as well knock down that wall, though..." Bunny took off at a run toward the wall without hesitation.
"What are you doing?!" Fumu yelled, thinking that Bunny would knock herself unconscious before she broke down the wall. Meta Knight watched in silence in Fumu's tight grasp, remembering something Bunny had told him under King Dedede's bed.
Sure enough, when Bunny was only four feet away from the wall, she jumped and glowed bright white before she slammed into the brick, effectively taking out the entire wall and making it crumble down on top of her.
Fumu yelled, "Bunny!" and made a scramble to get to the pile of rubble that was once a wall. Fumu dropped Meta Knight when she got to the pile and climbed on top in search of the many-eared girl. "Are you in there, Bunny?"
"Yeah, calm down, I'm fine," was the somewhat annoyed answer. Bunny's ears popped out about twenty feet to the left and in front of Fumu, and they were light purple instead of dark red. The rest of Bunny's head popped out too, and her body flashed the same bright white for a second and when her color returned, her ears and eyes returned to being red, the latter also having been changed. "I didn't think the entire wall would collapse, though." Bunny lifted herself out of the rubble and dusted herself off.
"How did you survive that?" Fumu asked once her mind started working again.
"Quick costume change," Bunny winked, "Don't think you or the scarf would wanna see it, though."
Fumu sighed. "With the way you do things, probably not. Do you still have their scent, can you find the mask?"
Bunny blew a stray hair out of her face before answering. "Yeah, I'ma clear out this rubble first, you two might wanna find some cover so I don't shear you."
The idea scared Fumu a lot more than Bunny had intended, so she rather quickly scooped up Meta Knight and went back behind the corner.
Neither Fumu nor Meta Knight could see what happened because they were ducking and shutting their eyes tightly against a wall, but they heard Bunny cast a spell from her shout of, "Iracundia Dei!"
Meta Knight, knowing a bit of Latin himself, wondered how he met this lady.
"You can come out now!" Bunny called around the corner.
Fumu and Meta Knight did as stated and were amazed to see that all the rubble had been cleared. "How did you do that?" Fumu wondered aloud in astonishment.
"Friend taught me how. You gonna be all awed at my trick or are we on a mission?" Bunny turned slightly and pointed in the opposite direction with an adventurous smirk.
Meta Knight hopped out of Fumu's hands and rolled toward Bunny after the initial bounce wore off. "Come on, then. I want to get this done as fast as I can."
Fumu shook herself out of it and followed the two. As they were exiting the castle, as that was where the scent led, Fumu realized Bunny and Meta Knight were slowing to to compensate for her, both being much faster on their feet. "I can tell I'm slowing you down. Bunny, you seem to be able to handle most everything that has blocked our way, you should be defense enough for Meta Knight. I'll stay here and probably distract those goons, if they haven't already given up."
Bunny stopped with one foot on the drawbridge and turned around, facing Fumu. She seemed almost as if she was going to say something sarcastic, but changed her mind and instead stated, "Thanks, Fumu. I won't let either of you down! Good luck!" And with that, Bunny scooped up Meta Knight and cradled him the way Fumu did, then dashed down the hill at a great speed, occasionally dash-kicking into the air to go faster.
Fumu stood for a few seconds, watching them go, then turned around and went back into the castle, confident he had made the right choice in handing Meta Knight over to this cat-bunny.
I do not own Bunny. As this was written in the middle of the night, my mind wandered to the (amazing) game called "Bunny Must Die," and one of its subgames "Chelsea and the Seven Devils." All my information was gained from the YouTuber NakaTeleeli, who has influenced my writing and interests greatly. If you have a hard time understanding, by all means watch NakaTeleeli's walkthrough of Bunny Must Die and Chelsea and the Seven Devils! You will not regret it! I do not think there is a category for it on FanFiction, however.
