A/N: This is a little side story to Prelude. I have been very busy with my program and thusly haven't worked on any of my stories but I'm done for the semester as of Dec 12 and should get Cat's Paw finished and maybe part of the next story up by the new year.
Divided Opinions
"He has done no more than Thor did on Jotunheim, he should be punished equally. We have accepted much worst behaviour before."
"He's a psychopath and he should be executed for his crimes!"
"He is still a Prince of Asgard and should be accorded some respect."
"He tried to destroy a whole realm!"
"Midgard is a puny, backwater realm, what should we care. They would be much better off under the rule of one of us."
"What of Thor's friends? Are they going to escape all punishment? They did commit treason!"
"I don't understand, Loki died during the Jotun invasion. What happened? Where was he? How is he still alive? Why would he attack Midgard? The Royal family is hiding something I tell you!"
"It does not matter, Odin Allfather will pass judgement and Loki will meet whatever fate has been decided fro him."
Odin had not expect such controversy and contention over Loki's return as a prisoner. The people of Asgard could not understand how the young prince had gone from - what they had thought- a fallen hero to a homocidal maniac. There was constant speculation and rumours flying. He was frustrated, he had agreed at the time with protecting Loki's and their family's good name by telling everyone that Loki had died trying to help Thor close the Bifrost instead of was the one who had set it to destroy Jotunheim. Odin was sorely beginning to regret that choice now. With public opinion so divided it was hard to pass fair judgement on Loki without worry that there will be outcry of some sort. Fridge had been petitioning for leniency from him almost everyday. There were now petitions coming in from public both to execute Loki or to be merciful. For the first time in his rule Odin could not make a decision so he continued to put off making one. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and still Loki sat in his jail cells, fate hanging in limbo.
