DICLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN EYESHIELD 21 OR ANY OF ITS CHARACTERS.
It has been a couple of years since she was last here. Her eyes roamed around as far as it could. Not much has changed since she left. Her feet voluntarily walked on its own but she did not mind as her eyes continued to study the changes that time has made. Everything was well maintained from the buildings to the grounds. All of it was both new and familiar to her.
A silent gasp escaped her mouth as soon as she realized where her feet had stopped.
Deimon Devil Bats clubroom.
Her eyes fogged.
Memories rapidly drifted back. Awkward beginnings. Early disappointments. Hardships. Sweet triumphs. And bittersweet endings.
A sad smile reached her lips. She sighed and slowly walked to the door. Surprise overtook nostalgia when she was able to turn the knob. It was opened. Her sense of duty suddenly kicked in.
How irresponsible.
She debated whether to lock the door and just close it or to go inside before she locked it. After a minute of internal struggle, she decided that it wouldn't hurt to see the changes that has been made to the clubroom. She walked inside. Absolutely nothing changed except for minor repairs to maintain the place. She came closer to the roulette table, her hand gliding on the surface. It was dusty. She sneezed, her eyebrows drawing together. What was the club manager doing? Why is she not cleaning the clubroom? Without blinking, her searched for the broom on its usual place and started cleaning the clubroom.
An hour later, the clubroom was sparkling.
With a nod of approval, she returned the broom back to the cabinet and wiped the sweat that formed on her forehead with her handkerchief.
At that precise moment, someone kicked the door wider.
Her eyes widened, her heart straining.
'Youi...Hiruma-kun.'
Surprise crossed his eyes but it was gone as quickly as it came. He walked past her as though she was nothing more but thin air and an empty space.
She stared at his him with disbelief while he sat at the roulette table, placed his laptop on his lap and started typing.
He has the nerve ignoring her.
Damn him.
Two can play this game.
She left, leaving the clubroom door opened.
To hell with you.
From the corner of his eye, he saw her huffing as she left. When she was out of eye range, he focused his attention on the training program he had in store for his old team.
Kekeke.
They were exhausted. Every part of their body screamed stop.
'Mukya! I wish Mamo-nee was here. Only she could stop Hiruma-san from overdoing things.' Monta said, panting.
The devil's ears suddenly twitched and a stray bullet passed near the side of his head.
'I think he heard you.' Sena's voice quivered.
'You fucking shrimps! Just climb the damn thing and cross the ledge silently.'
'Why do we need to cross the ledge again?' Monta asked Sena, his knees wobbling.
'Hhhhhhe said it will improve our balance more.'
They closed their eyes as they climbed the high platform.
I wish Mamo-nee was here.
They survived their devil captain's weird training today. It was as if he just wanted to make fun of them and wanted to watch a live performance of idiots doing circus stunts.
Sena cringed as he massaged his nape.
'Hey Sena, don't you find it weird that Hiruma-san recruited all the team members except our manager?'
'Eh. Uhm. I don't think we should meddle in other's lives Monta.' He shifted uncomfortably in the locker room.
Monta looked at him interestingly, 'So you do know something?'
Just then every one of the team's gaze fell on him.
'I don't know anything either…' he even raised his hand as a sign of goodwill.
'Why don't you just read the fucking gossip column fuckers.' The dangerous voice of their captain roared inside the room.
Musashi unfazed by him regarded him with interest, 'Well I can see Monta's logic here. The old team did include the manager.'
Hiruma suddenly had a bazooka in hand and released three succeeding shots.
Debris, dirt, and black smoke circulated around the destroyed locker room.
'I think I'll shower again before I call in the contractors.' Musashi unaffected by Hiruma's anger, walked to the surprisingly untouched showers.
Hiruma's reaction just proved his theory.
You're not the only schemer here Hiruma.
Mamori opened her eyes. She groggily surveyed her surroundings, it was dark. Her head still hurt from the ammonia she smelled that caused her to lose consciousness.
She remembered being followed on her way to her car. With unsteady hands, she took her car keys from her pocket before a hand covered her mouth then everything went black.
She panicked. Her heart beating wildly. She stood up and felt the door knob. She turned it, it wasn't locked. She sped down the stairs, not wasting time to appreciate the beautiful two storey beach house.
She went for the front door. It wasn't locked either.
That was odd but she did not have time to process the thought.
She stopped on her tracks with nowhere to go. She looked around her. Her eyes widened, she was trapped in an island.
She was about to yell for help when a very familiar voice from her back said, "No use screaming, it'll only abuse my eardrums.'
She turned around and there was the king of the devils himself, comfortably leaning against the wall.
"What am I doing here?' she demanded.
'The hell I know.'
'Release me.'
'Did galloping on a platform ruined your hearing.' he taunted.
'Oh so you're talking to me now. And I don't gallop, I walk on the catwalk.' she corrected.
'Same damn think.'
She seethed. 'Ugh! Why do I even waste my breath talking to someone who does not know how to keep his word.'
He just raised his eyebrow at her, chewing his gum.
'Can't you get us out of here?'
'Did I suddenly grow bat wings I didn't know about.'
The last thing Hiruma remembered was popping a gum on his mouth then after chewing it for a minute he was a goner and fuck if he will admit it to anyone that someone has outsmarted him for once.
'Help! Help! Someone can you hear me!'
Hiruma carried her while she stood upright, her feet a couple of feet away from the ground. He ungraciously deposited her on the couch in the living room.
"What is wrong with you?'
He massaged his ears. 'Unless you could fly or breathe under water then you're damn stuck with me.'
A/N: My apologies! It's taking me awhile to update this fic. Suddenly lost the mojo to update this but I will try to update next month again, hopefully!
