"You won't get away with this...!"
"This isn't fun at all, you know."
An amused laugh.
"We will see just how strong your bonds are."
Kagami groggily opened his eyes and instantly closed them again when the light blinding him. He groaned, his head hurt like he had the worst hangover ever and his hands went up to gently massage his temples. Seriously, just what...and then it all came back.
He stumbled out of bed - he faintly realized he was in his room - almost tripping on his way to the door in his haste.
He had been together with Aomine and suddenly blacked out. The blue-haired vampire didn't look any better than him in that moment and it worried Kagami to no end.
Was the other okay?
His speed steadily increased until he was almost running. The living room, maybe he'd find them there? He threw open the door, but everything was silent and empty. He cursed under his breath, his panic ever growing and turned around, his new goal the meeting room. If no one was here, then surely Akashi had called them all together, right?
He hoped so from the bottom of his heart. He had a very bad feeling ever since he had woken up, something just felt off.
He skidded to a halt in front of the room and hesitated only for a second, unsure of what would await him behind those closed doors. In the end he took a deep breath, grabbed the handle and pushed them open. What he saw was the most unexpected...but normal sight he could have hoped for.
Everyone was sitting on their places, chatting amongst themselves until he stepped in. Their heads turned around and all of them greeted him in their usual manner.
Kagami blinked in astonishment, his mouth hanging open for a moment since he seemed to have forgotten how words are formed.
It was then that Aomine took pity on him and approached the red-head, eyes filled with concern. He reached up with one hand to carressed his cheek gently.
"I'm glad you seem to be feeling better. You just fainted, ya know?"
"Everyone was worried Kagami-cchi!"
"There was nothing to be worried about. He's a vampire now, so of course he's fine."
"Shin-chan's lying, he was worried sick~! Me too!"
"Takao...!"
"Want some candy, you'll feel better. This one's tasty, but this one is better...or maybe thi,-"
"Just let him choose, Atsushi...I'm glad you're feeling better Taiga."
"Taiga, it is good to see that you are doing fine. Please have a seat."
Kagami needed a moment to comprehend all of this. Everyone was apparently just fine, everything was competely normal. No one was hurt. He felt how the tension left his body just with that knowledge and sighed in relief.
So it was all just his imagination...? But why was this weird feeling still there? He looked around once more and his eyes stopped on two vacant spots between all of the Generation of Miracles.
"That's strange - you're not all here?" his eyes were glued to the empty seats - where the hell were they?
"So you noticed. Yes, he is quite late, it is very unusual. I will forgive him just this once since it never happened before. Kiyoshi, on the other hand, is on a mission."
"That's favourtism..." Aomine mumbled under his breath but Akashi masterfully ignored his complaining.
"Akashi, what do yo,-" his question was cut off by the doors opening once more to reveal the supposed missing person to comlplete them.
Only that Kagami did not recognize the person in front of him.
The tall male had medium-length grey hair and absolutely blank eyes, even blanker than...who? Who was he thinking about? All he could visualize was a blurred shiloutte of someone he was supposed to know...who was it? His head started hurting badly again, like before, but this time he wouldn't succumb to this. This was wrong, this wa,-
"Kagami-kun? Are you okay? You seem a little pale?" an unfamiliar voice rang throughout the room, the stranger stepped closer towards him and Kagami took a step back out of caution.
"Ah, you're right, Hiro. What's wrong Kagami?" Aomine reached out for him but he avoided the other's touch. The older vampire dropped his hand, confused. Again that guy stepped closer to him and patted his shoulder in an act of sympathy. Kagami tensed, slapped the hand away immediately and stumbled back.
"Who the hell are you?!"
The whole room fell silent at that.
"What do you mean, Kagami-kun...? I'm Mayuzumi Chihiro, of course. Did you hit your head?" he smiled gently at him and Kagami stared at him with disgust. This was wrong. He wasn't supposed to be here! He was not that person...
"Actually, I tried to train by myself. I wanted to improve my strength in physical combat since it is only average."
Kagami blinked a few times, a bit surprised at that answer. Wasn't this guy part of the 'Generation of Miracles', the strongest of the strongest? Why would his strength be only average?
W-what..? He closed his eyes as the pain increased even more and grabbed his head. This...were these memories?!
Kagami didn't realize the worried gazes the others sent his way, neither the flicker of irritation in Mayuzumi's eyes.
He could force his way into the memories of his enemy. They would get corrupted by shadows and turn into anything he wanted. Cheerful memories could be remade into tragic, painful ones or into nightmares full of horror and gore. It could make the one who experienced it go insane.
He trapped them within their own memories and there was no escape for them.
He wouldn't want to be one of the poor souls who ended up insane after the blue haired vampire was done with them.
He wanted desperately to remember...! This person was part of his family, he couldn't just forget him...!
"Hey, Kagami, the hell's wrong with you?" Aomine's worried voice reached his ears.
"This guy...he's not one of us!"
"Taiga, calm down. You're talking nonsense." Akashi's smooth voice cut in, but Kagami stubbornly shook his head.
"No, he's not...! You have to believe me!" he was desperate at this point. Why couldn't he recall how that person looked like...his name?
"Kagami-kun there is a visitor for you waiting in Akashi-kun's office."
"WHOA / GAHH!"
It was K... voice that unexpectantly joined their conversation.
"Shit, Tet... when did you...?"
He saw it clearer now, the fogginess in his memory lifting slowly. Sky blue hair with a fitting pair of eyes in the same colour. A midget among the Generation of Miracles, just like Akashi...K...
"I was here for quiet a while. But it isn't surprising that you didn't notice, you were fooling around too much."
"Well, you could just say you're there, man. You still scare the shit out of me when you do that Kuroko."
"I apologize." But really, he wasn't sorry at all.
Kagami's eyes snapped open, the pain gone suddenly and his mind and memory clear once again. He straightened his back and glared at the imposter that dared to try and replace Kuroko Tetsuya.
"This guy isn't part of the Generation of Miracles and he sure as hell isn't part of our family."
His words were filled with confidence, his eyes shining with determination to convince all of them of the truth in his words.
"Kagami-cchi, you're talking like you're crazy. Don't you remember Mayuzumi-cchi? He trained with you, he's the one who saved you when you almost died. How can you say that..?" Kise's eyes were furrowed in confusion.
He heard how Takao laughed nervously and looked at him as if he was crazy. Actually, all of them looked at him in disbelieve and worry.
Kagami faltered slightly.
"Why don't you remember Kuroko..? Isn't he important to you?!" he clenched his fists and grit his teeth in frustration. At the name they all tensed suddenly.
"Kuro..ko...?" he heard them whisper the name to themselves and he hoped he finally got through to them, but his hope was dashed as soon as it appeared.
"That's just ridiculous. There's no one with a name like that. Never has been." Mayuzumi laughed at him, like a mother at her child that just told her a silly story.
"Th-that's right...there's no one like that..." Takao said slowly and the rest nodded in agreement.
No one was...Kagami turned around and locked eyes with his mate, eyes silently pleading.
"You...you believe me, right?" his voice was shaking, he hesitantly held out his hand towards Aomine and prayed the other would trust him with this.
Aomine avoided his gaze for a second before he finally met his gaze and properly looked into those clear ruby eyes. They were free of any confusion and lies. The only thing, he realized, that he could detect was the pure honesty and the trust he had in Aomine.
The trust that he would make the right decision.
He closed his eyes and sighed, he was well aware that all eyes were on him at the moment.
"If Kagami says something isn't right..." he stepped closer to his lover, took his hand into his own and squeezed in reassurance. "then I'll believe in him no matter what."
His choice was made.
"That's ridiculous, Aomine-kun. We've been family for so lo,-"
"That's not true, shut up! Your family isn't him but Kuroko Tetsuya! No one else!"
There was a flash of recognition in Aomine's eyes this time and the others suddenly stiffened too.
"Tetsu...?" he blinked a few times, it really sounded familiar.
Akashi furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"I must apologize Chihiro, but even in my mind various doubts formed. It's strange after all, wouldn't you agree?" he stood up in a calm fashion and walked over to stand inbetween them, shielding Aomine and Kagami from Mayuzumi. His left eye activated and locked onto Mayuzumi.
"Are you sure, Akashi?" Midorima questioned.
"I will not take any risks. You all trust Taiga, right?" There was a short silence before they all responded in the positive.
"Well, he's dumb but he wouldn't lie." Aomine piped up and Kagami's eyebrow twitched in irritation.
"And you...if you really are who you claim to be..." a smirk slowly formed on Akashi's lips. "then you have nothing to fear, right?"
Mayzumi appeared to be calm but his blank eyes mirrored his inner conflict.
"You'll be our 'prisoner' for now. We'll proof your innocence eventually...that is, if you aren't lying."
A/N: So, I haven't decided yet if he's going to be a good guy in the end. What do you think? Good or evil?
