Guess who isn't dead?

The plan was set. The plan was easy, Akashi said. The plan was perfect, too. No flaws what-so-ever. How could there be? Akashi was perfect, therefore his plan was too. Completely logical.

In Kagami's opinion this wonderful plan was bat-shit insane. Not only the plan. The people who just so readily agreed, no doubt about it. Crazy. Every last one of them.

Nevertheless his opinion was promptly ignored. Not that he was surprised. No. Obviously he was in the wrong anyway. Maybe he was the crazy one after all for going along with it in the end. Not like he had a choice, he simply yielded up to his fate.

So, the plan was 'easy'.

Lure the enemy out of their hideout with the help of Mayuzumi, separate them and take them down in groups.

Simple, right? Right.

"Mayuzumi will act as a 'double agent'. He will give them the false information wherein he has completed his original objective prompting them to attack. When they gather Kise will use his illusions to confuse the enemy and we will use that chance to separate them from each other." Kagami begrudgingly agreed that this would be best way to fight them. As proven by previous encounters Kazaya and Yamazaki were an almost deadly combination. It would be a priority to prevent their teamwork.

Hanamiya would be handled by Kise, Kuroko, Mayuzumi Akashi and Kagami himself. When the others had gotten rid of the 'henchman' they were to join them as soon as it was possible.

Midorima, Takao and Himuro were to watch over the battlefield for any unexpected disturbances. None of them were fighters by nature. Midorima was a great strategist only second to Akashi, so the leader trusted him to make the right decision in an emergency. Takao's 'hawk eye' would help them keep an eye on the entirety of the battlefield and keep track of the individual fights. And with Himuro's ability to send his thoughts directly into their minds it would still be possible for Akashi to give orders to send support.

So all in all it was a perfect and simple plan. Right.

"But if the non-fighters are all in one place, won't it be like serving them on a silver plate?" Akashi smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. Kagami regretted even opening his mouth to begin with, a bad habit which he had since day one. Questioning the almighty Akashi was akin to having a death wish. He really should just learn to shut the fuck up. "You don't have to worry, I've taken care of that as well. Did you really assume I would be unaware of such an obvious flaw and not take precautions?" Kagami shook his head 'no' and Akashi seemed satisfied with his answer.

"A good friend will take care of protecting them." And he left it at that. Sure, Kagami was curious, but he did not dare ask. Akashi was in a bad mood; even he had realized that now. Well, Kagami couldn't really blame the other red-head. He must be worried and anxious, more than any of them. He may be able to cover it up well most of the time but even he could not uphold a façade all the time. He was probably slightly irritated that he had to give Mayuzumi the key role in his plan. If it turned out he was a traitor after all it would give them a great disadvantage. But they had no choice than to go along with it for now.

When the meeting was over and Mayuzumi approached him he immediately felt queasy. It wasn't as bad as the first time he met the grey-haired male. He didn't have the impression that the other was still a threat, but he was wary all the same. He couldn't just trust him at a moments notice.

Blank eyes – eerily empty of emotion – met his ruby ones. Kagami raised a split eyebrow in question. "What?" Came the eloquent inquiry. The red-head could feel eyes boring into his back. Well, someone did not like him interacting with the 'newbie'. Mayuzumi must have noticed too. His gaze swept past him for a split second before refocusing on him. "I'm sorry for bothering you. I merely wanted toapologize for my previous actions and behaviour once more."

What a polite guy, he thought with a sweat-drop. Kagami waved his hand in front of him in a nonchalant manner, a "It's okay, don't worry about it." leaving his lips. He could understand Mayuzumi's reasoning behind his actions. The urge to hunt down and kill the people that dared to hurt or take away your loved ones...yes, Kagami was very familiar with that feeling. That was if Mayuzumi really told the truth. But right now Kagami believed him. He left him the benefit of the doubt.

The conversation ended there. Mayuzumi had said what he wanted and Kagami had nothing else to discuss with him either. Besides, the burning gaze had probably already left permanent burn marks on his back.
He rolled his eyes and joined his mate for a previously arranged training session. They wanted to explore the capacity of his ability. Aomine did, however, receive a stern look, a sharp chop aimed at his ribs and a "Stop it already, dumbass." from Kagami first.

I'm so sorry for not updating in ages! I really am. I lost inspiration for this for months. I really wanted to write, but I had no idea what. Everytime I started I just stared at the screen, not knowing what to write . I was really frustrated. I was really close to dropping the story but I'm glad I didn't. I'm trying to get back into writing this butI still have some trouble with progressing the story. I hope you still enjoyed the chapter! Again I'm really really sorry!
