If the text is like this, it happened in the past aka. a flashback.

So, enjoy the chapter my dear readers!

Haizaki had been in love with Kise for a long time. He had always made it fairly obvious, openly flirting with the blond and trying to make a move on him since day one. Kise himself wasn't too averse at the idea of being with Haizaki. In the end they even started going out.

Akashi had warned them from the beginning that this would not end well.

Nobody could deny the bond that automatically formed between oneself and his mate. It was fate and no one, not even the red-head himself with all his stubborness or pride, could oppose it.

'Ryouta, it is not a good idea to start a relationship with someone who is not your mate. It will not end well, neither for you nor for Haizaki.' A tired sigh followed since it was a conversation they had many times before. '...However, in the end it is your decision and I will not involve myself in your business.'

'Buuut Akashi-cchi, why should I be dependent on something like 'fate'? He's liked me for so long, and I like him too, I want to give this a chance to work.'

'Ryouta...' Akashi sighed once more in utter exasperation. 'It will be fine, Akashi-cchi!' the blond gave a reassuring smile and Akashi tried to do the same. 'I really hope so, Ryouta.'

Surprisingly it went well for quiet some time but then...well, Kise met Kasamatsu and that was the end of Haizaki's and the blond's relationship. Kise couldn't go against his natural instincts, or rather the invisible force that pulled him and the black-haired male together.

And that, in turn, was the beginning of a disaster.

Haizaki had been angry. No, that was an understatement. He had been livid when Kise left him for Kasamatsu. Slowly he started to talk less and less with the members of the GoM, preferring to be alone. All of them thought he just needed some time to sort his feelings out and he would be back to normal. But it steadily became worse instead.

Haizaki continued to distance himself from everyone. He had developed a kind of hostile attitude towards others. He wasn't exactly friendly in the first place, yes, but at least his flawed personality had been tolerable. The others thought that all things and happenings considered, it still was a somewhat normal reaction.

But he began picking fights with the other members, naturally most of the time with Kasamatsu. More than once others had to interfere so it wouldn't go too far. Akashi had noticed the obvious tension between everyone. He decided to give Haizaki some time off to cool down and removed him from any missions. At the time he wasn't capable of teamwork either way, the trust between them was already severly damaged.

As expected Haizaki hadn't taken the news very well and left in a mix of fury, bitterness, hate and jealousy. Akashi still blamed himself for not sensing the imminent danger.

It was shortly after his removal from the missions that Haizaki's negative emotions finally won over and he let them out in the worst possible way.

"HAIZAKI YOU BASTARD!" said male smoothly dodged a powerful punch thrown at him by an enraged Kasamatsu Yukio. He laughed haughtily, hands lazily resting in his pockets as he jumped out of harms reach. Midorima, who had been with the black-haired male at the time, ran over to a heavily wounded Kise Ryouta who was profusely bleeding from several wounds. He thanked whatever god there was that they had stumbled upon the scene before it was too late. "Serves 'im right." Haizaki spat angrily; the grin from earlier replaced by a sneer. "Shouldn't ya be looking after your beloved?" the last word was said with so much hate and disgust, it only added to Kasamatsu's relentlessly growing anger. "You...!" he growled threateningly. "Kasamatsu!" Midorima cut him off hurriedly. "We have to do something now! We'll deal with him later! Kise's gonna die, he used silver!" Kasamatsu gritted his teeth and very reluctantly went over to help the green-haired male.
He threw one last withering glare towards the culprit, however, and said through clenched teeth. "You will pay for this, I swear."

But after that incident Haizaki had completely vanished, not a trace left.

Akashi couldn't forgive himself for letting Kise get hurt and not being able to protect the blond like he should have. Yes, the red-head had still been new in the position of leader, but it was no excuse. He had chosen this for himself and promised the previous chief to look after the young vampires that were now known as the 'Generation of Miracles'. Maybe letting Haizaki join their ranks had been a wrong decision. Maybe he should have consulted his elder. But now it was too late. What's done is done, even if he hated that fact more than anything else. Akashi could only swear to himself he wouldn't let it happen ever again.

Haizaki Shougo was still the same as they had last seen him. The messy, light-grey hair that almost reached his shoulder, eyes in a matching grey tone that reflected his I-don't-give-a-shit attitude. His hands were in his pockets, his posture slightly stooped over. He hadn't changed in the slightest. The only thing that probably did change was that he was even more dangerous than in the past.

Haizaki took a step forward, expression calm – no that wasn't right. It wasn't calm as much as just simply bored. "And here I thought I'd get a good workout and what do I get? The guys who can't fight for shit." He groaned in annoyance and disappointment. Hanamiya was such a bastard for ordering him to take care of these weaklings. He just had the worst luck ever. But suddenly a grin stretched across his face. "Oh well. Guess I'll just use you as my punching bags then. A warm-up for the real deals." He slid his hands out of his pockets and straightened his posture. Takao's eyes widened and he tried to push both Himuro and Midorima farther behind him. He was dispensable but if Himuro, their only way to communicate with the others, or Midorima, the only one who could make decisions and think like Akashi, were to die it was the end for them.

However, any such thoughts vanished from his mind when someone stopped Haizaki's attack before it even properly started. "Why do you guys look so worried?" a black haired male asked lightly, as if he wasn't doing anything unusual at all. Like he was making small talk while drinking tea and eating cookies. As if he wasn't standing behind Haizaki and held onto his arm, disabling him from unleashing his attack.
For a second the blond was still too shocked to react, but once he realized what had happened he turned quickly around to kick his offender off of him. "N-Nijimura-san!" Midorima cried out in warning, but it proved to be unnecessary. Nijimura had already jumped out of harms way and now stood in-between both parties. "Bastard…" Haizaki mumbled irritated and looked at his bruised wrist. He had to admit that this guy had strength and agility equal to his own. Maybe this wouldn't be so boring after all, with someone strong like him around. Yes, this could actually turn out to be quiet entertaining.

"Withdraw for now." the words were uttered with no room to argue. Still all three of them hesitated for a second. They knew how strong Nijimura was, he had been their leader before Akashi had taken over. But they also were well aware of Haizaki's strength and it wasn't to be underestimated. Nijimura didn't know anything about the blond since he was already gone when Haizaki had joined them. "I won't repeat myself." The black-haired male threw a slight glare over his shoulder. Reluctantly, each of them nodded and hurriedly left the scene.

"All done?" Haizaki asked in a fake sweet voice. "Didn't think you'd wait for me." "I ain't interested in the small fry." Haizaki shrugged in a non-caring way, still preoccupied with his now slowly healing wrist. "Is that so?" Nijimura's voice sounded almost amused and Haizaki grit his teeth. The pretty boy was making fun of him, huh? He moved into a fighting position and waited for the other to do the same because…Haizaki blinked, a bit confused at his own behaviour. The fuck was he waiting for? Usually he wouldn't give two shits if his opponent was ready or not…so why? He shook his head slightly. Of course he just wanted to enjoy the fight for as long as possible.
It had been a while since he last had a chance to. That was it. It seemed he had been in deeper thought than he realized, because he barely grabbed Nijimura's fist and stopped it from hitting him square in his face. Startled grey eyes met determined onyx ones. Haizaki's eyes widened and all strength just suddenly left his body as his hands slowly dropped to his sides. Nijimura, too, was looking at him with disbelieve plainly visible on his face.

The moment their eyes met they knew. "You gotta be fucking kidding me."
