And when I see you

I really see you upside down

But my brain knows better

It picks you up and turns you around

Turns you around, turns you around- Death Cab for Cutie.

Jane didn't sleep that night, she just watched the stars and listened to the waves as the boat gracefully travel to its destination. Then it hit her, she was alone. Alice and John were far, far away and she felt an emptiness as the smell of the sea filled her nostrils. She wasn't completely alone since the princes dog seemed to fancy her and stood beside her, "Heh you remind me of my old dog Maurice I used to play around with when I was younger." She got a tail wag in response.

"Should you be asleep it is quite late." She knew exactly who it was.

"Doesn't the almighty Reaver need his beauty sleep?"

"It comes naturally my Dear." Reaver walked up beside her and sighed, "How I miss the smell of the sea."

"I give it 2 days before I start getting sea sick." She joked.

"Then you can rest in my quarters and-"

"No chance."

"Oh my lady it appears that you have wounded my ego." He put two hands over his heart.

Jane laughed then looked back at the stars, "I miss being a child, not having to worry about things like evil, love and sometimes reality."

"I do not remember what it was like being a child." Reaver sighed.

Jane looked at him seeing that he was dressed in a bath robe, "Aren't you cold?"

Reaver chuckled, "I can ask the same thing." Jane was dressed in only a long purple nightgown

"Yeah. I'm also very hungry."

"Well, let us go get something to eat, I think I still have some shortbread cookies left."

Jane hesitated, "Hmm okay but no funny business."

The next day was all about the rebels plan, the prince needed allies in order to overthrow King Logan and Jane could see that Ben was still deeply troubled by major swift's death so she decided to try her best at comforting him, "Hey Ben."

Ben sat at a table with a bottle of whiskey next to him, "Hi." He said right before taking another shot.

Jane could see the stubble begin to grow on bens face and frowned, "Do you mind if I sit here?"

"No."

"Ben…please I think you've had enough of that." She reached for the bottle.

Suddenly Ben stood up defensively and clumsily, "Go away! I don't want your sympathy just let me drink in peace!" he shouted.

"What's going on!?" Walter ran to the table and saw Ben holding the whiskey bottle.

Ben said nothing and stomped to his quarters leaving Jane shocked and disappointed, "Drinking never helps anything."

Walter sighed, "I'll try talking to him." He smiled at her warmly and Jane smiled back.

Jane decided that she should probably do something productive to calm her senses so she went to go see what Reaver was doing. Reaver was in his quarters reading a book and drinking a glass of wine, "Why come in my dear." He said as he took a small sip of his wine.

"Why are you always reading?" Jane asked as she took a seat in front of him.

"What else is there to do?" Reaver asked as he flipped a page.

"I don't know."

It was quiet for a minute and Jane could sense that Reaver wanted to be left alone so she did exactly that. The rest of the day was long and boring so Jane just fell asleep. When she awoke it was in the middle of the night and everyone else was asleep. She walked out to the deck again to watch the stars, she heard someone walk up behind her, "How was your nap?" Ben seemed to be in a more normal state of mind.

"It was fine." Was all she said.

"I'm sorry Jane, about earlier."

Jane looked at him and sighed, "I know exactly what you're going through ben there is nothing to be sorry for."

Ben nodded and looked up at the sky, "I don't think there is anything more beautiful than the stars….well besides you." He smiled at her.

Jane blushed and laughed, "You're so cheesy." He laughed and the two looked at eachother for a moment, "And charming." Jane added. Ben gently pulled her closer and felt her tense up so he stopped there, "I'm sorry it's just…I'm not really used to this kind of stuff." Jane said as she felt the heat rise to her cheeks even more.

"It's fine." He leaned it alittle more.

"Um." And they kissed, Jane had only been kissed once by a neighboring farmer boy when she was 16. It was a nice lingering kiss he tasted like whiskey and smelled like smoke but she broke it off when she heard a loud cracking noise, "What the hell was that!?" and she heard the cannons go off.

"Get down! Now!" Screamed Walter but it was no use the cannon balls were tearing through the ship one after another and the last thing Jane felt was the cold water hit her body.
