Author's Note:
Okay, basically what I want to put to you, my gorgeous readers, is the fact that as of late I've been watching a lot of Klaine (Kurt/Blaine) clips and after watching the clip of Don't Stop Believing by the old and new members of New Directions (in which they send messages to Will, the expectant father), the idea occurred to me to write a Klaine fic with Quinn as a surrogate. I'd love to know your opinions were I to write such a story (one completely separate from this narrative!) that would feature the post-McKinley lives of the original New Directions kids and Will Schuester, of course! PS. The song I use is Crazy People by The Wreckers (which is sort of why this story is called Wrecked since I always knew I wanted to include that song!).

A month later (Graduation Day)…
Sith then thy trains my younger years betrayed,
And for my faith ingratitude I find;
And sith repentance hath my wrongs bewrayed,
Whose course was ever contrary to kind:
False love, desire, and beauty frail, adieu!
Dead is the root whence all these fancies grew.
~ A Farewell to False Love (Sir W. Raleigh)
All that Will could think about was how stunning Quinn looked as she walked up to Principal Figgins to receive her well-deserved diploma. Not even the bouncing and oblivious toddler on his knee could distract him from one of the most significant moments his fiancée would experience in her life. He thought about how close they had come to missing the event altogether and was glad he could still persuade Quinn to do what he said on occasion.
"Will, we can't go to graduation! I mean, come on, I'm the teen mom everyone knows about and I can't face the entire faculty and the parents who know me as the girl who got pregnant in high school! I'll just pick up my diploma on Monday…or you could go get it." Quinn had raged from her place on their living room floor where she was playing with Kayleigh.
He approached her and sat down beside her, "You need to go to your graduation ceremony. It's important and I know that you'll regret not going, so as your fiancé, it's my job to talk you out of silly decisions. Besides, our daughter needs to see her mommy graduate with flying colours with her friends."
Quinn smiled down at the two people that constituted her family in the sea of spectators thanking the Lord that she had been sent such angels to help her through life and save her from her demons. Even though her final years at McKinley hadn't gone how she had planned, like leaving the Cheerios for good, having a child and a fiancé and finding such kindred spirits in the glee club, it dawned on the young woman that she had more than ever and she had left nothing behind that truly mattered to her. She had all she ever wanted and needed: good friends and the perfect family…and a diploma. The big event of the day probably wouldn't be that she had got the grades together to graduate with the rest of her class but the good news she was dying to tell Will at the party at their house for the glee club kids.
"Quinn Fabray." Coach Sylvester drawled as Quinn rose from her seat and headed for the principal.
Then the most surreal and bizarre thing happened and if Quinn hadn't been completely sober and cogent, she would have sworn someone had spiked her drink. Principal Figgins actually graced the former cheerleader with a smile, an awkward and unpractised smile, but a smile nonetheless.
"Well, Miss Fabray," he mumbled so no one else could hear, "congratulations. I think perhaps out of all the members of your graduating class, you most deserve your diploma. So, well done."
"Erm…thank you, Principal Figgins."
She stalked away with a perplexed expression on her face as Sue Sylvester called out Finn's name. Figgins' words had petrified her a bit and she was glad at that moment that she had decided against wearing heels because there was no doubt in her mind that she would have fallen flat on her face in shock had she not been held firmly to the floor.
Once the ceremony was over and Kurt delivered a truly riveting speech that inspired all and managed to coax a tear not only from his father's and Blaine's eyes but also from most of the crowd, the glee club and friends trickled back to Will's house. Needless to say that as part of Kurt's speech there was a brief interlude of Single Ladies to congratulate the football team and remind everyone that homosexual people can win football games just as well as the team players who don't hesitate to slushie them or shove them into trashcans or beat them up. It was a powerful message orated with true panache and emotion. Obviously, no speech by Kurt Hummel ends without New Directions swarming around him and choking him in a warm bear hug.
"Okay guys," Rachel piped up perkily when they were all seated in the lounge with drinks in their hands and food in their bellies, "you know what I think would be really fun? Since colleges and schools made their offers today, all of us graduating should spill where we're going next year. That way we'll all know where we are and it'll be easier for us to stay friends."
"Good idea, Rachel," Will replied, "who's going to go first?"
"I will!"
Everyone groaned at Rachel's unrelenting enthusiasm and desire to self-promote and gain applause but it was what they loved about her so she was swiftly forgiven and permitted to divulge her news first of all.
"I got accepted to NYADA. I'm going to New York…again!" She screeched.
Kurt's eyes widened and he squealed, "Oh my God, Rachel, so am I!"
The next few minutes elapsed with Rachel and Kurt sharing hugs and making plans to room together and duet together. It wasn't until Noah said he'd come visit because he would need civilian digs for leave because he got accepted into the Air Force that the NYADA attendees shut up and began to congratulate their classmate.
"I'll be at Otterbein," Finn declared with a sneaky look at Mr. Schue, "so I was kind of hoping, Mr. Schuester, that I could come and help out with the glee club next year. I'm still living at home with mom and Burt, so it would be great to hang around."
Will was flabbergasted. He didn't even know any of the kids were considering staying in Lima, let alone the state, so Finn's plans were a complete shock to him and he felt a keen pang of guilt for not divulging his own intentions earlier.
"Actually, Finn, I'm not going to be here next year either so it's not my decision. I'm moving to New York. I got offered a job on Broadway managing a theatre so Quinn, Kayleigh and I will be heading east. I'll tell you what I will do though. If you want, I can ask Figgins if you can direct the glee club next year. That way, you can continue what we all started and take it to further heights."
Finn nodded and hugged his greatest father figure, not knowing what to say to such a magnanimous gesture and feeling quite overwhelmed by the confidence that his teacher and friend had just shown in him by offering to back him as his successor.
"Mike, Tina," Blaine began, feeling that the soiree had just become slightly too morose for his enjoyment, "where are you guys heading?"
Tina replied, "We both got places to study maths and dance at Brown so that's the east coast for us too. Who'd have thought most of us are heading east out of Ohio?"
"Well, I'm not," Mercedes retorted with a wide, proud grin illuminating her face, "cos this girl got a deal out in California to record with Sony!"
"Holy shit! That's amazing!" Sam shouted.
Everyone spent a few minutes clarifying and congratulating those who had already publicised their futures. No one noticed one person sneak off and until Artie interrupted the gentle hubbub that had been brewing to reveal his own plans, the group forgot that there were still two graduating members of New Directions who had yet to declare themselves.
"Okay, Artie," Mercedes said with a genuine smile, "what are you up to in the fall?"
"Well, I am thoroughly sorry to underwhelm everyone seeing as you all seem to be headed for the Big Apple but I am too. You'll never guess who actually came to see me and offer me a place! Okay fine, I'll tell you! Brooklyn Film Academy said they're really interested in my work and are offering me a place on their roster!"
Finn smiled, but noticed that all the while her classmates were sharing their happiness and future prospects, Quinn had remained taciturn but had a Mona Lisa smile adorning her face which made the quarterback think that there was something his ex-girlfriend was hiding.
"Quinn, what are you smiling about? You're going to New York with Mr. Schue, right?" He enquired curiously.
She grinned at her circle of friends who were eyeing her, all intrigued, "Well, yes I am going to New York with Mr. Schue, but I'm not just going to be a stay-at-home mom, I've got something to tell you all too."
"What, Quinn?" Will asked, not sure where his fiancée was going with her spiel.
"Now, don't all go mental, but I got a full song-writing scholarship in New York."
Joe glared at her, "For Christ's sake, don't be coy and all secretive! Where?!"
She squinted and the corners of her pert lips turned up, "Juilliard."
No one spoke. No one knew what to say to such great and unexpected news. It began to freak the recipient of the scholarship out so she playfully slapped Blaine on the arm and succeeded in kicking the conversation back into earshot. Everyone congratulated her and everyone gave her a hug.
As Will watched as the kids gathered around Quinn to commend her achievement and embrace her, his eyes puckered as he noticed someone was missing from the group. With a sigh, he placed his beer bottle down on the cabinet and headed to where he knew without a shadow of a doubt the absconder from the gathering had disappeared.
He rounded quietly into Kayleigh's lilac nursery and saw the shadow of a hunched man darken the walls around her crib. He whispered gently, "You didn't hear the news, did you? Quinn apparently got a full ride scholarship to Juilliard for song-writing."
"That's great." The figure garbled out past the fully fledged tears that were choking him from within.
"Noah, what are you doing in here?"
"She's gorgeous. She's the spitting image of Quinn with that nose and those eyes. I'm sorry for just leaving and coming in here but I just wanted – needed – to see her before I leave town and before you leave town."
Will frowned, "Puck, you know we aren't leaving until the end of the summer and it sounds like you'll be coming to New York to see everyone so you can always come and see Kayleigh and us. We'd never try to cut you out of her life. For my part, I just want to see you have a life of your own."
The younger man turned to his daughter's father and mumbled through his tears, "I'm glad you're her dad, Mr. Schue. She deserves a dad like you and it's not when you're leaving Lima that I was talking about. I have to leave next week to be down in Alabama for training. So the last thing I'll ask you before I leave here is that you love her always."
"That I can promise freely and easily. Kayleigh will always be loved." Will responded with a frog in his throat as he shook Puck's hand and gripped him on the shoulder.
Strangely, Noah shot his former teacher a knowing glance and murmured in his ear, "I'm sure…but that's not who I'm really talking about, Mr. Schue. Just take care of her. Quinn's one hell of a woman now and she's right for you."
It was then that Puck planted a loving kiss to his daughter's forehead and walked out of her nursery. It was almost as if Kayleigh felt that something truly momentous had just occurred because she began to moan and stir so her astounded dad tucked in her blankets more securely to comfort her and get her to go back to sleep.
"What woke her up?" Quinn asked from the doorway, having noticed that Will wasn't in the heart of the party when Puck sombrely re-entered the fray.
"Oh just me and Puck talking." He said vaguely, clucking as he failed to soothe his daughter.
"We'd better sing…otherwise we'll be in here until dawn." Quinn declared, knowing that her daughter was a stickler for being lullabied to sleep or refraining from the activity indefinitely.
Therefore, Will and Quinn began to croon softly at their child with the glistening trophy from Nationals occasionally stealing their attention from above Kayleigh's cot.
Will: Only crazy people fall in love with me,
Quinn: They come from all over to be with me:
Bank robbers and killers, drunks and drug dealers.
Will: Only crazy people fall in love with me.
"Someone would have to be crazy to fall in love with you. Good thing I don't mind being crazy, but Lord knows why she only likes that verse."
"Hey, that's mean," Will snapped back in jest, "but the reason she's picky about music is because she's your daughter!"
