Gibbs didn't want to listen to her, he wanted to stay by her baby's side, he didn't want to leave her again, he needed to be there, he had lost them for two years, two years was definitely too much. He was there now and he would not leave. Anyway he didn't want to listen to the woman standing in front of him. He wanted her out of this room. There was no rationality in his thoughts, he only knew one thing, that Hetty should have protect them. Ziva should not be in this bed, in this state. Tony should be with them; they didn't deserve this ... She approached him slowly; she knew all the man's pain and what he felt. She had felt it many times before. When Deeks and Sam had been tortured, when Kensi had disappeared in Afghanistan or when Callen has been shot ... She and he were the same; their teams were their families. She couldn't blame Gibbs for his temper.
"Gibbs, I know you don't want to leave her bedside, and that I'm the last person you want to talk to, I fully understand but you really need to come with me. This person needs to see you now. She will help you ease the pain…I promise. »
"If this person is so important, she can come if she wants, I would not leave Ziva ..."
"I think it's best that she doesn't see Ziva like that, for her sake."
Gibbs was intrigued. Who was this person? Why she was so important? He wanted to know but couldn't leave Ziva. He kissed the young woman's forehead.
"I'll come back."
He finally headed to the door, looking at her a last time.
"So who is this person?"
She didn't answer, and brought him into the hallway, where Kensi, Deeks and Mary were waiting patiently. Deeks was standing up next to the window and trying to distract Kathy who kept asking for her parents. When the little girl looked at the old man, she began to struggle to reach him.
"Grandpa! Grandpa! »
Gibbs couldn't believe it, but when he looked at her, he knew. He approached her and took her in his arms. The child buried her head in the man's neck. He hugged her tight.
"Hi Grandpa, mi name's Kathy."
Kathy smiled at him and touched his face. The tears he had held all day were finally flowing freely.
"Grandpa, why you cry?"
"It's because I'm so glad to meet you."
Deeks approached Gibbs and put his hand on his shoulder.
"Gibbs, this is Katy Shannon Gibbs. In fact Dinozzo…actually you understand! »
"Was she with them in the car? Is she okay? »
"Calm down Gibbs…"
"She was with us ... Ziva and Tony had entrusted her to us this morning, they knew something was off... they knew something bad was going to happen ..."
The girl didn't finish her sentence, and ran away from the group. Kensi wanted to follow her, but Deeks stopped her.

Gibbs still couldn't believe that he had this little bundle of joy in his arms. Looking at her made him blame himself for not having fight more against Vance for Tony and Ziva's return. He should have insisted, but he knew that despite all of this, it would have been for nothing. He was aware of the dangers in this job, it was part of it. He had lost so many people among the years. Shannon, Kelly, Kate, Jenny. They had all signed for it. Kathy had fallen asleep in his arms, he was torn between the joy of having a little girl in good health and the state Ziva was in, not to mention the kidnapping of Tony. His mind usually so perceptive was totally fogged. He glanced at Kathy and said to himself that as soon as Ziva will be awake and Tony back, he will give them two good slaps behind the head. He laughed at the thought, but reality caught up with him. He sat next to Kensi and began to rock Kathy. He wanted to go back to Ziva, but wouldn't let Kathy. Kensi noticed it.
"I'll keep Ziva company; I think you need time with Kathy. »
He thanked Kensi with his eyes; she and Deeks went to Ziva's room, leaving Hetty and Gibbs in complete silence. She knew very well that she shouldn't try to make contact with him, it would be useless, so she waited. Mary eventually returned moments later and sat next to Gibbs.
"I'm sorry ... it's just that I care so much about them ..."
"I understand perfectly, don't worry Mary. You know, they went through terrible things through years and they always came back. »

"Long story short, this is Kathy, Tony and Ziva's daughter. »
"She is beautiful, just like her mother. How is she by the way?"
Gibbs didn't answer first.
"She suffered from several external and internal injuries, more or less important. She had lost a lot of blood. Unfortunately due to the important head injury, there was nothing they could have done. .. She is in a coma."
"Gibbs I'm sorry ..."
"The doctor said that she was in critical condition...she is pregnant you know..."
Callen stood up and turned to Hetty.

Gibbs made the introductions and Mary told him the whole story again.

He walked to her room, leaving them alone again.

She didn't wait for an answer; she knew there would be none. She stood up and went away. Callen, Kensi and Deeks had stayed with Ziva a good part of the afternoon. Kathy woke up and won't stop amaze his grandfather. Callen finally come out, Mary had gone with Kathy to get her something to eat. Gibbs knew that the young man needed to talk with him.
"You asked me not blame her ... but you are angry with her ... it shows you know..."
"Callen, don't take that road. What happens between Hetty and I should not influence you. I know you consider Tony and Ziva as brothers and sisters but don't forget, they are not your responsibility. That's for me to worry about you. »
"Gibbs ... in my place you would have done the same thing. »

He was so exhausted, he knew he had to pull himself together because soon Abby will be here, she was the sentimental one. She will need all his strength.
