Hey, how's it going?
Now, I know I said I would switch back and forth between Nostalgia and SUFO, but I was just so swamped with work I ended up getting thrown way back. I was so behind and I figured most of you would appreciate an update for SUFO over this first, but now they're both updated. Sweet.
The first two have been Newt point of views so this one is for all you Thomton fans out there. Figured you guys deserved something for putting up with all of the Newtton. Don't worry, guys, your patience will pay off, just like Thomas'(: .
I struggled with which scene to re-write since I love so many of them, so thank you to another amazing writer on this site, Mrs. Frodo Baggins. I beta one of her stories, 'Dust In The Wind', which is a Newt/OC, so feel free to go check it out, it's amazing!(: I know this wasn't one of the ones she had picked out, but she had convinced me to do a Thomas/Sutton scene, so thank you, you got me thinking.
I guess that's it. If you need a recap, go ahead and read back the original chapter, 'Bombastic Love'. Thomas is finally awake and survived The Changing and Sutton needs to see him. I figured it would be a good "welcome back" chapter. It was either this one or the first time they actually sat down and talked, and for some reason, this one spoke to me. Newt is much more.. Persistent and vocal, I guess you could say, so writing Thomas is interesting. He's more of a 'keep my emotions to myself' kind of guy when it comes to Sutton, so this was fun.
This one is more of descriptions and thoughts than dialogue, which is different from my normal stuff, so let me know.
Below this chapter will be something of a 'teaser' for a new story I am writing that will soon be up on this site. Give it a read and let me know what you think, I'm trying to test the waters with it(:
Enjoy.
If you were wondering, while re-writing this, I listened to 'Hallelujah' but Paramore.
SugarSpice824; Good, I'm glad! I heard about the Fever Code! Has it been released yet? If so, I'll have to check it out! Ugh, Thomas Sangster, man.. I watched Maze Runner again last night and ooomf.
BookCrazy24; Happy to hear that you're enjoying it so far!(:
The Genius; I'm so happy everyone is enjoying this idea. It kind of just hit me one day after hearing that a lot of people want to hear more from the guys. Newt was always my favorite character in the trilogy, so I want to keep him as prominent as possible!
EllaOfFrell; Flawless? Wow, thank you!(: I know you wrote your last review about three months ago, but I hope you're feeling better (horribly delayed, I know)!
Anonymous Me; Thomas Sangster is just amazing. I don't use the nickname of 'bae', almost EVER, but he is DEFINITELY bae. M rating will definitely become a thing, so no worries! I figure, Newt is what, 17? How are most teenage boys? He's such a joy to write!(:
Guest 1; Hope you're enjoying this and the sequel so far!
Niclo121212; Have you checked out the sequel yet? Only two chapters up so far, but I like it. Sorry to tell you, but there's no Newt in this chapter... *Ducks for cover* Sorry! He'll definitely be back soon! But no, don't be jealous! I don't consider my skills that great, so thank you thank you!
Natuk; Do not worry, there will be rated-M stuff, promise! That will definitely be in the Scorch Trials sequel I've started writing (Save Us From Ourselves), as well as my Death Cure adaption. Not sure if I'll re-write those scenes because they're going to take a while to write. I have very special scenes mapped out for when that stuff happens, so I want them to be perfect. I might, though, depending on how well the readers enjoy them.
ThomtonIsLife; Here's your wish! Thank you so much for love for Sutton. I love the love that she's getting! I'm currently majoring in professional writing, so hopefully one day! Thanks for the support.
Ka-Tay's Mind; When I write Newt, I think about his age and how most teenage boys act. Watching the movie over and over definitely helps, as well.(:
Emma; Aw, thanks so much! Enjoy chapter three.
Ptl4Ever419; Yes, yes he definitely does!(:
DREAMLESSLY17; Glad you like it!
BenchWench; Here you go!:D
Thank you guys for all of the love. Seriously, it means the world.
Memories flooded through my mind, pictures passed through my brain. There was a commotion going on downstairs and it only hurt my head more. I covered my ears, even though I knew it wouldn't do much. It's not like the Homestead is soundproof.
Feet pounded up the stairs and I could feel it in my chest, bouncing off the beat of my pulse. I could hear someone trying to quiet their breaths at the door and it made my fingers twitch, the headache lacing through my eyebrows stinging at my forehead. The door opened slowly with a loud creak, making my groan quietly in protest.
"Alby said I didn't have to see anyone," I said sternly, squeezing my eyes shut at the noises that seemed amplified after The Changing.
"Didn't really give him an option," she told me, the smirk in her voice quite evident.
My eyes flew open at Sutton's voice, her words flooding my system, coming to a halt right at my core. Sutton stood in my doorway, leaning against the door jam, staring at me with a quivering lip. We continued to stare at each other for what seemed like forever in a comfortable silence, drinking each other in. My hand reached up to cover my mouth as I watched her, took in her pert nose, her small lips, tiny, almost too tiny waist.
With the harsh conditions in the Glade, she was far from perfect, but in some way, she was just right.
Her shirt was beginning to look ratty and old, but her complexion said otherwise. Sure, there was stress in her eyes, but there was a sparkle there as well, almost egging me on. Egging me to stand up, take her by the hand and just hug her, never let her go. Newt's glaring face popped into my mind, reminding me to stay sitting—not to forget the fact that I was still incredibly sore from the Sting.
I hadn't noticed I was smiling until my smile turned into a frown at the sight of Sutton's body shaking, ever so slightly. She probably didn't even know I knew, probably didn't even know that she was shaking, but I knew.
I saw it.
"Sutton..." I called out to here but my voice got caught on the tear that slipped from her left eye.
My fingers began to twitch again, but not from my pain as they previously had. They twitched at her pain, at the way she quickly wiped the sneaky tear away, out of my vision, but the way she looked at me gave away that she knew. Knew that her emotions betrayed her.
I sighed, giving into her saddened body language, nodding towards her, forgetting about whatever crazy thing she has with Newt.
"Come here,".
Sutton was like a bullet, a shot in the dark speeding across the room and into my side. A grunt escaped my lips as she fell against my chest, her cheek resting against me. I hesitated but acted anyway, wrapping my arms around her.
I thought about Sutton and Newt and knew it was wrong, knew I shouldn't be comforting her the way I was, but I couldn't help it. Her air, her attitude, everything about her; she's intoxicating. Her eyes fluttered shut and I could feel her eyelashes close against my shirt.
This is wrong.
Everything about it is wrong but it feels normal.
Right.
I allowed my chin to relax against the top of her head, accidentally digging my nails into her arm. Sutton was right there, in my arms, but it didn't feel real. Inhaling her scent and everything about her, something compelled me to speak, to at least try and make her feel better.
"I'm sorry,".
"I know," Sutton replied, "Just don't ever do something that shucking stupid ever again,".
Her words made me laugh, but it still hurt to laugh. Sutton looked up at me in worry but I shook my head, letting her relax.
"I had to, Sutton,".
"No, you didn't,".
Why Sutton was being so persistent about it, I didn't know.
In reality, I did, but it was for a reason that she would never admit.
"Sutton, there was no other way, okay?".
"There is always another way, Thomas. Anyone else could've done what you did for the future of the Glade. You shouldn't have had to be the one,".
Sutton was getting me wound up and she just wouldn't admit it. Her finger was right in front my face, practically lying on the tip of my nose, but as much as I wanted to smack it out of my face, I didn't. Just because she's used to fighting with Newt doesn't mean we have to be like that, too.
"No one else would have done what I did! Are you saying if Newt had stepped up you would have let him get stung?".
Once more, Sutton's emotions betrayed her, making me scoff.
"Exactly. Someone had to do it and you didn't me a good enough not to. I did what I had to do and now we have the upper hand,".
Sutton continued to ask me questions that were fueled with anger and sorrow and I continued to answer them. All the while my thumb ran up and down her arm, calming her goose bumps only to give her even more. Her skin felt smooth under my touch, felt good.
As she explained the previous events of Gally kidnapping my unconscious self, I began to zone out, thinking about what we would be and what it would be like if Newt weren't in the picture. They were bad thoughts that shouldn't even be on my mind, what with everything else that's going on, but I couldn't help it.
It isn't that I want what I can't have, I just want her. In the moments of silence we shared, I listened to her heart beat against my ribs, the beat of her heart reverberating through me until it reached my own heart. Our hearts were practically beating in unison, a perfect match.
"Wow. Kind of glad I was asleep for that," I whistled when her story was over.
Stop. Just stop it. Sutton's not mine for the taking. I shouldn't even be thinking about her like that. It's sick. To lust over another man's girl? A man, that, I'm supposed to consider my new family? The Glade is a family; I can't just go around stealing other guy's girls.
"Thomas, what was it like? If you don't mind me asking," Sutton asked me as she rolling over so she could look at me.
Before I answered, I looked into her sparkling eyes that were filled with beauty and wonder and curiosity and told myself to be patient. She may be with Newt for a long time, she may not.
Her small lips were a few inches from mine as she stared into me, waiting for an answer. The kiss we had shared in the maze came back to me. As I looked down at her lips, all I wanted to do was hold her cheekbones and tell her everything was going to be okay, to hold her close as I kiss her.
Her small lips were a few inches from mine as she stared into me, Sutton's eyebrows rising as she waited for an answer.
As much as I wanted to do all of those things, I knew it was impossible, it wasn't right.
I have to be her friend, the friend that she can always turn to.
The best friend gets the girl sometimes, right?
Underdog comes from the bottom and surprises everybody?
Hey.
In this world, you never know.
*Dances around in a circle at all of the Thomton feels*

Shameless plugging, I know.
Below is the teaser from a new story I'm working on. Like I said in my current SUFO chapter, if you guess right as to the world/story it's coming from, I'll let you in the plot, couples, so on and so on.
Thanks for dropping by, and don't forget, Sutton loves you!(:
"The nostalgia that haunts is real, but in reality, it isn't,".
The year was 1950. Businesses were thriving, relationships were flourishing, dreams were chased. Neon signs glittered, flashed in the night sky. Buildings, companies towered around us, the marketplace a free world. The air tasted of fancy perfumes and cigars but any leftover pollution was pumped out, forced out; anything to keep the illusion. The laughter of young, gullible women echoed through the halls, while purrs and private promises were whispered into their ears by shark-toothed men; anything to keep the illusion.
Banners of glee were hung in the square, raucous partying could be heard from the nightclubs down below.
Down below.
Such a funny term...
Submarines putted past the large titanium window, pushing through a school of fish. Down in the alley, a man was being threatened, shoved against a brick wall by his collar. Somewhere else, a man was arrested for manslaughter; hadn't that been one of the sweetened promises of coming to this place?
No rules. Only one.
My heels clacked faster down the cobblestone path, away from where a man was getting beaten up in an alley over owing someone money-how typical. Goosflesh pimpled my arms, pushing my legs to walk quicker.
They had said life down here would be grand-unique.
My mind recalled the last hour as someone's plaything, all for a couple extra bucks. But I was stuck, his slave in a limited world. Passing a bathysphere station, I remembered this city's one rule: you can never leave. I puckered my lips and spat at the ground, cursing this goddamned city.
They said life in Rapture would be grand.
Anything to keep the illusion.
