"This can not end well," Severus said the moment he saw Draco as a blueberry.
Wonka chuckled. "I think it's just dandy!"
"Lucius Malfoy is not somebody that you get away with antagonizing," Severus warned, " they may even find out who you truly are."
Wonka did not appear bothered by this possibility.
"My father-" Draco began.
"Silence!" Severus ordered, "once you invent a cure to this, we shall have to wipe the child's memory."
"What?" Draco asked in rage, "why should my memory be wiped? He tricked me!"
Irritated, Severus cast a Silencing charm on Draco, who tried screaming that his father would destroy Hogwarts for this, but no sound emerged.
"He'll have to come to my factory," Wonka said.
Severus shook his head. "No, he'll learn to much."
"There is no other choice," Wonka insisted, "trust me, I don't want this child in my factory. Although, we can just leave him this way."
Severus sighed. "No, he'll have to be at your factory, then we'll wipe his memory."
"...So Wonka took Draco to his factory," Severus finished telling the Headmaster.
"Well, at least only a small number of students witnessed it," Dumbledore said, "once he returns, the story will be dismissed as rumors."
"Perhaps, but what about next week? Or after that?" Severus asked.
"I will prohibit Wonka from using his candy or inventions in front of students," Dumbledore decided, "indeed, I am not sure why I did not do this earlier. In any case, there is no need to panic."
Severus glanced at Dumbledore's copy of the Daily Prophet. Fudge Loses Memory; Scrimgeour Appointed Minister.
"Cornelius was found on a street corner with Umbridge and Kingsley," Dumbledore explained, "none of them recalled who they were. Fudge was impeached on the basis he is no longer mentally capable of serving his post."
Severus scoffed. "I doubt he ever had the mental capacity for that office."
"Perhaps not," Dumbledore agreed, "Scrimgeour has called for a mass investigation into Ministry activities. No doubt that when the public learns Fudge was stealing from Gringotts, the outpouring sympathy will cease."
"Does this mean the Ministry will cease to be after us?" Severus asked.
"The campaign against myself will end, yes," Dumbledore answered, "as for you, sadly I doubt they will ever stop trying to find evidence to arrest you as long as Voldemort is alive. The Ministry has never believed in your innocence."
"I am perfectly aware of that."
Severus heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," Dumbldore called.
Wonka entered the Head's Office. "The Slytherin kid isn't blue anymore. He's tied to a chair in my office so you can Obliviate him."
Snape wearily exited the Head's Office to find Wonka's office.
There was something about this new professor that made Hermione Granger suspicious. It wasn't just that he was often borderline mad, or that he supposedly turned Malfoy into a blueberry. It wasn't even that Wonka spent most of his free time with Snape of all people. The name is what stuck out. Hermione was certain she had heard it before, but couldn't recall where.
Hermione began noticing that Wonka was frequently away. McGonagall said Wonka had "family affairs" to attend to, but she didn't believe it.
Hermione was going to be keeping a close eye on this new teacher.
