Veronica sat in her new bedroom with piano music playing throughout it. As Adriana had told her, she googled the song. It was quite nice, well the piano version was. She wasn't a huge fan of dub step.
She logged into Facebook while listening to the music and went to Adriana's profile. Adriana's profile picture was a picture of her and Sarah together a couple of years ago. Adriana had her natural dark hair out, and was wearing a pair of 3D glasses with the lenses out of them.
Her hair was piled on top of her head as she looked over her shoulder like a movie star. Sarah was facing forward, pulling her sunglasses down, and laughing. The two seemed to be best friends. They were best friends.
Veronica stared at the picture of the younger girl and she realized that that was the only profile picture Adriana ever had. She'd deleted the other ones. Sneaky girl.
She posted other selfies, some piano things, but mostly it was just her sharing statuses or pictures. Her Facebook wasn't that different than someone who had it for a long time, not like a first time users like most thirteen year olds.
"V, you okay?" Kat asked as she leaned against the frame of her daughter's bedroom. Veronica looked up at her mom.
"When are you guys going to get Adriana?" Veronica asked. She wanted her friend to move in with them soon. They'd already set up her bedroom and it was pretty sweet.
It had a slanted roof, which the bed was under. There were also fairy lights everywhere and a keyboard.
"Soon, I think Curtis said tomorrow," Kat said. "Try and get some sleep," Kat didn't give her daughter an option as she took her laptop, placed it on the desk and turned off the light.
Adriana sat in her case workers office in the corner quietly doing her homework. It was peaceful in here and she liked it. Especially since she was going to meet her new "parents" soon. Maybe they wouldn't be completely horrible.
When she heard the door open, Adriana didn't life her head at first. When she did though, she was shocked.
"Veronica?" she asked in confusion. Why was her friend here? Why was her friend's mom and her friend's mom's boyfriend here? What?
Veronica didn't answer though as she sat down on a chair next to Adriana. Curtis went and knelt down in front of Adriana without saying anything. Adriana looked at him curiously, what was happening here?
"Adriana," he said slowly.
"Hi," Adriana replied as she stared at him wondering what was happening.
"I knew your mom, Rachel," he said and he swallowed. "We used to date,"
"Really?" Adriana was shocked. Someone dated her mother? Well they had to have for her to be conceived but that was beside the point. She'd never seen her mom date before.
"Yes… I'm your father," he said. He seemed to struggle with saying that but that was fine with Adriana. Her brain needed to catch up with the information she was being told. He was her father? The person she'd never met.
She knew what she needed to do. Veronica was staring at her, obviously scared that Adriana wouldn't accept it.
Adriana hugged him.
It shocked everyone in the room since Adriana wasn't prone to hugging people but she did it.
It was the first time she'd embraced her father in a hug.
It wouldn't be the last.
The End
