*Leah's POV*
I was waiting in the food court for Dean to come out of work when I looked up from my phone to see Derek. He was the last person I wanted to see, but there was something that I had yet to fully understand. What was he doing with Vanessa?
"Can I sit here?" Asked Derek. I looked up, after pretending that I didn't see him and sighed.
"What do you think?" I asked him.
"No but we need to talk." He said to me. "We need to talk about the situation with Vanessa and I. Please, Leah, talk to me. It's been almost a week already."
I looked up at him. "What is there to talk about, Derek? You knew what was going on and you did what you did anyways. I'm not going to tell you what to do and I'm not your parent to do so. But don't screw me over in the process. What, did she just fall on your lap for you to end up having sex with her?"
"I'm not even going to try to come up with an excuse because there isn't one." Derek said to me. "I had my needs and I was stupid enough to go to Vanessa to satisfy them. I know she's with my dad, and I went with her anyways."
"Out of all of the girls that are in your school, you choose Vanessa who you didn't even know until she came into the picture." I told him. "Guys have needs, I understand that, but really, Derek? I thought you were smarter than that. And then you expect me to trust you? I trusted you enough to tell you what all was going on between her and I and yet you side with her."
Derek shook his head in disagreement. "No, I didn't side with her, Leah. It was just for sex that I was with her. She offered and I didn't say no."
"That still doesn't excuse the fact that, out of all people, it's with Vanessa." I said softly. "I thought that I could trust you, yet you're spending your time with the enemy."
"She seems like a good person." Derek told me.
I scoffed in disbelief. "Why, because she opens her legs for you and gives you some?"
"Don't you, for Dean?" He asks.
My hand quickly connected to his face, causing everyone to look in our direction with the sound of impact. My hand stung a bit from the impact, but I didn't show it, even as I stood up from my seat and grabbed my things.
"Let's not confuse anything between the two of us, Derek." I told him. "Dean is my boyfriend and unlike you, he knows how to keep it in his pants. I'm not Vanessa who goes screwing around with multiple guys to get what she wants. I know how to keep my legs closed and I use my head to get what I get what I want. That little similarity that you tried to use between Vanessa and I was unnecessary and disrespectful and because her and I are nothing alike. Don't you ever try that again. We're done here."
I walked away and saw Dean coming out of the store that he worked in. I walked straight into his arms and whimpered softly as I dug my face into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my head as he moved my hair out of my face.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked me, knowing that something was wrong.
"You're going to get upset." I tell him, knowing that he would.
Kissing my temple, I heard him breathing as I felt his chest rising and falling calmly and steadily. "Why? Tell me."
"Derek tried to talk to me again because he wanted to talk about the whole him and Vanessa thing." I tell him after a few minutes. "He said she was a nice person and I asked him why and if it was because she opens her legs for him and he asked if I do the same thing for you, basically."
"What, have sex with me?" He asks.
"That's how a part of me felt like he was trying to say." I tell him softly.
Dean stayed quiet for a moment as his arms tightened around me. "Where did you see him?"
"The food court. I don't know if he's still there." I replied.
"Come on." He asid as he grabbed my hand, interlocking our fingers.
"Where are we going?" I asked him as I followed him, but I think I already knew the answer to it before I even asked the question.
We got to the food court and I watched as Dean looked around. "What was he wearing?"
"Dean, no. Let's just forget about him. Derek's not worth it. I don't want you to be so upset." I tell him.
"Forget about him, my ass." Dean said. "I'm not okay with him talking to you like that. There he is."
I look and saw him talking to some girl that wasn't there when I left him. Once the girl left, Dean made his move and I quickly followed, trying to calm him down.
"Why are you talking to Leah like that?" Dean asked when he walked up to the guy, coming close to putting his hands on him. "And don't give me that 'I don't know what you're talking about' bullshit because you DO know."
"I was just saying." Derek replied, knowing what he had meant. "I'm sure you two are sexually active."
"Our sex life is nobody's business." Dean said. "If we have sex, we have sex and if we don't, then we don't. But I refuse to let you disrespect her all because you want to make a point."
"Why are you so intent on protecting Leah?" Derek asked. "You say your sex life is nobody's business, yet you're all up in mine because of who I'm having sex with."
Dean grabbed him by his shirt and pushed him up against the wall. "Whatever the excuse, Leah is my girlfriend. When you decide to stop messing around with someone who's more than willing to open her legs to anybody and settle down for a relationship, you'll understand. Hell, when you even walk a mile in my shoes, you'll understand. Don't stand there and question why I do the things that I do and why I act the way that I act. We may slightly be in each other's circles because of Leah, but don't confuse that with knowing me or anything about me because you don't, just like I don't anything about you. You're crossing the line. Hope that it doesn't happen again."
Dean let go of his shirt and turned around to see me looking on. He walked up to me and gently took my hand in his before wrapping his free arm around my waist. I touched his nose with mine and gave him a soft kiss on his cheek. We left the mall to go home and we were both happy when we finally did.
I put my things down and quickly go to take a shower as Dean calls for some Chinese food. A few minutes later, I hear the bathroom door softly open and I see that it's Dean when I take a peak from behind the shower curtain. I feel my face grow warm when I see him undress, as if I've never seen him naked before. I look at him from his shoulders, to his firm chest and abs, all the way down and get back behind the curtain.
I hear the curtain move a little as he comes in and I hear the curtain again when he closes it. I let him put his arms around me as he allows himself to get wet as I get myself in a position to where the water is hitting him. We help each other with the soap before just standing there in each other's arms.
"I'm sorry." I tell him quietly as I look up at him.
"Sorry for what?" Dean asks. "You didn't do anything wrong."
"John is my step-dad. If he wasn't, we probably wouldn't have had this problem right now of them trying to break us up." I tell him softly as I look down and play with my hands as I continue to stand in his arms.
"Hey, look at me." He says as he cups my chin, so that I could look up into his blue eyes that I've fallen in love with. "It's not your fault. We can't choose who are parents or step-parents are. But maybe, if it wasn't for him, who knows if we would be having this moment right now. If you'd be here, living with me instead of him. John may be doing these things, but it can make us stronger."
I rest my head on his chest and I just want to curl up next to him in bed or on the couch. I want him to hold me and make me feel better. As if taking the hint, Dean turned off the water and wrapped a towel around me as he did the same around his waist after drying himself.
"Come." Dean said as picked up his clothes and went to the room. I put on his shirt and a pair of his basketball shorts as I pick my hair up into a braid. We take a seat on the couch as I happily curl myself up into his arms when he wraps them around me. My arm wraps around his waist as he sits with his feet planted up, in nothing but his sweat pants as we watch television.
I can't help but smile when Dean starts trying to make me laugh with his craziness. We share a few kisses before the doorbell rings. He groaned, not wanting to get up and went to the door, looking through the peephole.
"Can you get my wallet?" He asked as he opened the door to see a guy standing on the other side with our food and sodas.
I grabbed his wallet from the table and took it to him so that he could pay. After the guy left, we closed the door and went to our little dining table as I put the sodas in the fridge to let it get a bit more cold before we started eating anything. Dean took out the forks and napkins, as well as the extra plates that were given to us while I took out the containers of food.
"Want containers or plates?" I asked him.
"I'll take the container." Dean replies. Giving him the container with his food, I went to wash two cups and took out the sodas while he put his wallet away.
When he came out of our room, he wrapped his arms around my from behind as he kissed the back of my ear. I smiled as I leaned into him and loved the comfort that came automatically. I gave him a kiss before we both sat down to enjoy our dinner.
*Dean's POV*
"So what are we going to do over the summer?" I asked Leah as we ate.
"I don't know. Maybe we can change our shifts, if we're able to so that we can work during the mornings instead of the afternoons and evenings." She said to me. "That way, we could be with our friends instead of worrying about having to work, yet still have some kind of income coming in to pay our rent. It could also give us a chance to enjoy our summer."
I nodded, understanding. "We should all have a party or something at the end of the summer, before going off to college. Like a BBQ or something."
"That sounds good." Leah agreed. "I'm not going to say that it's going to be our final get together because knowing you and Roman, the two of you will be together every chance you two get."
I chuckled knowing that was possibly going to happen with every time off that we had from school. "Look, we're best friends and we're like brothers. We're not separating that easily."
Leah giggled and kissed my cheek. Looking at her, it really got me thinking and this was something that I never thought would pop into my head at my age. I'm only 18 and it's something that I already want.
"Thank you." I tell her.
"For what?" She asks as she looks up at me.
"For everything." I reply. "You've done a lot for me since we met. And I don't know how to ever repay you for the things you've done for me."
Leah smiled at me and gave me a kiss. "It's okay. You don't have to."
"But I want to." I say. "You didn't have to do the things that you've done for me. Influencing me to go to class everyday, even if I was late. My grades going up. Influencing me to go to college which I never thought I would ever do. I'm a better person because of you and I thank you for that."
I leaned over and met her lips halfway for a kiss before pulling away and touching her nose with mines.
"I love you." Leah tells me.
"I love you, too." I reply before giving her another kiss. I already know of a few ways to thank her and hopefully I can accomplish one of them by the end of the summer. For tonight, I just wanted to make her feel better and see her smile and hear her laugh.
A/N: What do you think of what Derek told her? Was it disrespectful to Leah? Was he trying to make a similarity between her and Vanessa? Did it permanently ruin any chances of her trusting him ever again? Did you like how he wanted to focus on making her feel better? What does Dean have up his sleeve for Leah at the end of the Summer?
