Time for Action
September 5th, Hogwarts
"Professor!" Draco screamed as he watched Amy fall onto the floor. As Draco picked her up, Snape moved so quickly you would of thought he had run there, with Dumbledore just behind her. As Dumbledore reached her, the rest of the Slytherin students formed around them, hiding them from view.
"What happened Draco?" Snape asked.
"I don't know sir; she was fine when we came in. She took a sip of juice, then vomited and collapsed."
"Well whatever the reason, she needs to be taken to the infirmary." Snape said, standing up. Casting the mobillicorpus spell, lifting her gently. "Draco, come with me. Parkinson, take her things back to the common room. Two people take the things she was eating and drinking, and take it to my office." As he said this, the students looked disgusted. He sighed, and then cast an air bubble around the plate, which had vomit on it, and the students relaxed. Then Snape looked around, and saw everyone looking at them. "What are you looking at?" he asked them, deadly calm. Then he, Draco and Pansy left, two other following behind with food.
Just as they approached the infirmary, Snape turned on Draco. "Do you know anything about this Draco?"
"No sir."
"So that wasn't a potion I saw you put in the food you took to Ms Bartlet earlier?" He asked, and he saw Draco pale.
"It wouldn't have done this on its own sir, something else was in it."
"Listen here Draco, I will not report finding your father's potion if I find another. But if there is not, have no hesitation that I will see you expelled." Snape warned, and Draco nodded emphatically. Snape looked at him again, eyes calculating. "Dumbledore will most likely keep this a secret from her father. I'm writing a letter to him now. You will have to inform your father, as your plan has failed, and it is probably best to let him know that she will probably be removed. Let's go now." Snape finished off, and walked into the infirmary.
September 6th, Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire
Dear father,
I am afraid that I have failed in the task that you gave me to make Amelia Bartlet loyal to our side. She has been taken ill and is currently unconscious, after vomiting yesterday. I believe that someone else has fed her a second potion, as that is the only way I can think of that our plan would go wrong.
Snape has written a letter to her father and it is believed that an official withdrawal from the school will happen. It is more than likely to happen the day after you have received this letter. I hope that you can make matters right, or come up with another plan.
Your son,
Draco
As Lucius read this, he fumed. How dare someone ruin his plans! He had already made the list for her guards, all of them were in his pocket apart from Amelia Bones, and she was only there because they needed someone senior. He threw the letter in the fire, and walked to his library to think. As he entered, he continued to the window. Then he got an idea, one that he needed to double check. He went to the master book, said the name, and smirked. Yes, perhaps it was time for it to come back.
September 6th, the White House
Dear Mr President,
I am Severus Snape, and I am your Daughter's head of house. I am writing to you to inform you of an incident occurring on the 5th September. As your daughter was sitting for lunch, she vomited and fell unconscious. As the schools resident potions master, I examined the food to make sure that there were no foreign bodies. Unfortunately, there was a hint of trust potion in her drink, keyed to an unknown individual, along with another, unidentifiable substance. As this is beyond a NEWT grade potion, I regret to inform you that I believe that it was a separate member of the faculty.
The headmaster would not have me writing to you, as he wants to protect his reputation above all things, and this information is not known outside of the headmaster and me. However, I feel it my duty to protect my students, and I feel that I cannot do this for your daughter if she has a fellow faculty member against her.
As a result, I am recommending that you withdraw your daughter from Hogwarts. If my suspicions are true, she is not safe from her relatives here.
Yours sincerely,
Severus Snape
As he read this, Bartlet was sitting in bed with a sore back. With Abbey away in Japan, he decided to follow the recommendation in the letter, as he personally thought that he should have done this a while ago. He walked to the fireplace, trying to remember how to do this. Having the fireplace placed higher up really did a favour for him now. Throwing it in, he said "Ministry of Magic, Minister's office." Just after he had said it, the minister showed his face.
"Mr President. What can I do for you?"
"Minister, I am authorizing Operation Clean Sweep. Get my daughter out of there." For a moment, he saw the Minister hesitate.
"May I ask why?"
"She was given a potion by a member of the teaching staff, Minister. I would not order it if I didn't have a reason."
"Yes Mr President. I'll brief the team sir." With that, the fire died out, and Bartlet sighed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day. He thought, as he put on his tracksuit, and went to the oval office.
