A New School

September 10th 2001, The White House

Amy woke up feeling happy. Not only was she not being forced to go to England, but she was starting her new school today. She got up, and put on her normal clothes, before heading to breakfast. As she sat at the table, her father was there. "Hi dad." She said, sitting down. Jed looked up.

"Morning darling. Why aren't you wearing your uniform?"

"I don't want to stain it before I get there dad."

"Fair enough." Jed said, before lapsing into silence. He soon spoke again. "A couple of letters arrived for you this morning." He said, handing them over. She opened up the first one.

To Mrs Bartlet,

Please find enclosed your timetable for the year. Arrival is expected at 9:50 Eastern Daylight Time. Also, please sign the included document, officially stating that you have left Hogwarts for the Texas Academy of Magic. A escort will be waiting for you at the door.

Yours Sincerely

William Johnson,

Head of Admissions

Behind the letter, were the two documents that were enclosed. She took the main document, and signed it at the bottom. It flashed, before disappearing. She looked at her timetable, before picking up the second letter, and looking at the address. She didn't know the person who was writing from their handwriting alone, so she opened it anyway, and two letters fell out.

To Mrs Bartlet,

I wish to apologise for any distress that the ministry caused you by setting a hearing on your guardianship. As the owl would not fly to you directly, I have managed to send this to my contact in America, who should send this to you via muggle post. I can only hope that this reaches you.

Yours truly,

Lucius Malfoy

After reading the first letter, she had a good idea about who the second one was from.

Hi Amy,

Hope you are alright back in America. Hogwarts has gone crazy since you left. Even though it has only been a few days since you left, the Potter's have been in a mess, and lessons are getting worse. History of Magic has been hit hardest. All we do now is read from the book. It is so boring.

Hope you have fun at your new school,

Draco

She smiled at Draco's letter, and then put it in her pocket. "Go and get ready Amy." Jed said, and she rushed off to get changed.

At 9:45, she was waiting in the portkey room of the White House. With her was Andrew Malfoy, who it seemed had to take her everywhere now. "Why are you always with me?" She asked looking at him.

"As your head of security, I feel that I should be escorting you to your destination."

"Since when do I have a head of security?"

"Since nine o'clock this morning." Andrew said, and the portkey activated.

A few minutes later, Amelia and Andrew were waiting in the entrance hall of the academy. The headmaster was walking towards them, along with two students. "You've arrived. Excellent. These two next to me Eleanor Kanris and Elliot Pollos, two of your fellow students, who will escort you around for the next two weeks. I've got to discuss some things with your guard, but apart from that have a good day. You have five minutes until first lesson." As the headmaster left with Andrew, the three students left for the lesson.

They were quiet most of the way until Amy decided to end the silence. "So how do lessons work around here?"

"Well you take your lessons in our form groups. Just so you know, we are form c." Eleanor said, before walking ahead of them.

"Does she have a problem with me?" Amy asked, looking at Elliot,

"No, just what comes with being a Republican. She is the daughter of the Senator for Kentucky. So by default, she can't really get on with you."

"Fair enough. I don't agree with some things the Democrats say anyway."

"Political debate aside. We have arrived at the class." Elliot said, and she entered her first class at her new school.

When lunch came around, Elliot was still guiding Amelia around. She had been confused by the concept of a break between her second and third classes, but enjoyed it anyway. As they sat down at the form C table, she took the opportunity to make some new friends. First was Oliver Wilson, a student from Texas, who although having some extreme right wing views, was a nice guy. There was Toby and Andrew Schmidt, twins who came from California. Despite it being one of the better ones, they wanted to get further away from home. She had also managed to get Eleanor to open up a bit, even if it was just amiable, it was better than outright dislike she had encountered at the start of the day. As this odd assortment of friends stood up to leave, one of the teachers stood up. Although there was no head table, there were different rooms for the different ages, with people sitting in form groups until their sixth year, and in each room was at least two teachers. "Hello first years. Just a quick reminder that from end of last period on Friday until half seven registration for extra-curricular groups and activities will be open. That will be all."

"No offence to people who enjoy these subjects, but most of today has been useless to me." Amelia said, flopping down in her form room, her friends following suit.

"What's wrong with music?" Oliver asked, staring her down.

"Nothing, it just isn't useful for me."

"So what are you planning to do?" Eleanor asked. She had warmed up to Amy, especially since she had learnt she might disagree with her father.

"No idea, but it won't be music, art or drama." Amy said, smiling. A perfect end to her new school life, far away from the Potters and Dumbledore.
