This fic takes place in the future the events of Veritas accrued (so if you haven't seen it yet there will be spoilers). Castle and Beckett are married but the season finale is not part of this the wedding will be mentioned but it will be the way I image their wedding. Everything else is as is on the show.

Disclaimer: Me own Castle yeah right! If I did Nathan, Stana and I would be bffs and there would so be a Caskett baby on the way. Andrew Marlow is the lucky owner of Castle, lucky bastard lol. How ever I do own all 5 seasons of Castle on DVD, all 5 Nikki Heat books, a calendar and a t-shirt!

Chapter 13: Nightmares

Kate had fallen asleep beside her dad getting some much needed rest until the nightmare began. She thrashed and moaned whimpering Castle's name.

Kate stood on a hill her stomach round with their child smoke burning her throat and stinging her eyes as the wrecked Mercedes at the bottom of the hill was engulfed in flames. "Rick" she sobbed trying to run down the hill but a pair of arms stopped her pulling her back "No!" she cried "Rick needs me!" she fights to free herself from Esposito's arms

"It's too late chica he's gone you can't do anything for him you need to take care of the baby now" Esposito places a hand on her stomach.

"No! I…I need him I..I need Rick" she collapses in his arms sobbing. Nobody saw Bracken standing hidden from sight grinning he'd finally won he destroyed Kate Beckett once and for all

Jim is startled awake by his daughter's cries it breaks his heart when he hears her crying out for Rick begging him not to leave her "Katie" he gently touches her "Wake up it's only a dream. "

"Rick!" she calls out as she's jolted awake sweating and panting heavily.

"It's okay Katie it was only a dream" Jim rubs her back.

"W…Where is he daddy, wh..where's Rick" Kate cried shaking.

He's probably downstairs honey" he replied

Kate pulled back the covers getting out of bed she didn't bother to wait for her father she raced down the stairs as fast as her legs could carry her.

Castle was in the kitchen finishing up the pasta he was making for dinner he wore an apron "I kissed a cop and I liked it" written on it. When he turned to set the spoon in his hand on the counter Kate flew into his arms almost knocking him over.

"Hey what is it Kate, what's wrong" he asked feeling her body shake and her tears wetting his chest.

"D..Don't leave me Rick d..don't ever leave me" Kate cried into his chest.

"It's okay I'm right here always" he hugged her close wondering what brought this on when he saw his father in law mouth "nightmare"

Castle pulled away looking into his wife's tear filled hazel eyes "Want to tell me what happened" he asked softly brushing a tear from her cheek.

"Your car i…it was burning I…I wanted to help you b..but Esposito wouldn't let me h…he said you were g..gone and I..I had to take care of the baby, He..He killed you Rick h…he killed you" she cried

"Who killed me Kate" Castle asked even though he thought he knew the answer.

"Br…Bracken h…he was grinning p…proud of himself" she clung to him.

"Listen to me Kate that will never happen I love you too much to ever leave you" he told her but he couldn't help worrying when he thought about the text he received the day Kate was shot on the beach, he never told her about it.

"He's right chica none of us will let Bracken near you or Castle" Esposito promised

"Yeah let him come near you I will go Lorena Bobbitt on his ass" Lanie added causing all the men to shutter and the women to laugh.

"Katherine darling my son waited 4 years to have is way with you and now he can have his way with you anytime he won't give that up" Martha stated with a grin.

"Thank you mother" Castle groaned rolling his eyes

"Mom" Alexis spoke softly "You and dad survived explosions, freezers, the Hudson River, bombs, bullets, poison, hanging off a roof, torture, serial killers, and a tiger you know why you guys survived"

"Why" Kate responded quietly

"You survived because you were together" Alexis smiles "You can survive anything as long as you have each other"

Kate couldn't help smiling "We do make a pretty good team don't we"

Castle smiles too "We're the best team" he lowers his lips to hers kissing her.

The couple pulls apart when they hear a chorus of "Get a room" Castle laughs "Are you and baby Castle hungry"

"We're starving babe" she grins.

Everyone sits down at the table while Castle prepares the food he brings the tossed salad and garlic bread to the table. He goes back to get the pasta when he feels his phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulls it out seeing a text.

"Cozy little family too bad its about to fall apart you might be able to protect the detective but who's going to protect you your days are numbered writer enjoy them while you can"

Castle was furious that bastard senator was watching them and making threats he would let his family enjoy their meal then he'd tell Gates and the boys about the text threats he received then he would decide whether or not to tell Kate. He saved the text and slid the phone back in his pocket.

"Who's hungry" he asked carrying his pasta creation over to the table. He sat down and smiled watching everyone he loved around the table enjoying the meal he lovingly prepared. He said a silent prayer that this family survived so they could all grown old together , raising their children and grandchildren together the way its meant to be. He hoped they all had Always.
