A/N: sorry about the very long wait. Life happened and I procrastinated (a lot.) so sorry again. Here's the chapter.

Last time:

When I finally drove us back home, I gulped when I noticed a very familiar van in front of the institute. 'How did they get here so fast?' Was my numb thought.

Rahne responded out loud, "I don't know grá, (love), I don't know."

Gulping again as we parked, we headed into the mansion, and went to where we heard my dad's loud voice. I paused at the door to the professor's office, unable to enter, afraid of what I might see. Rahne patted my arm and grasped my hand. I'm here for you. I smiled at her and turned back to the door, clenching my jaw. I reached out with my free hand and opened the door. All conversation stopped, I swear my heart stopped as well.

"Hi mom, Hi dad."

Danny's POV:

"Hi, Mom. Hi, Dad."

My parents whirled around from where they were arguing with the professor towards me. Mom sniffed as soon as her eyes landed on me. Dad lunged foreword with a great cry of "DANNY!" without missing a beat, he scooped me up into a great bear hug. While squeezing the living daylights out of me he practically shattered the glass on the windows with his voice when he cried out, "Oh, how we've missed you Danny-boy, it just hasn't been the same without you."

Mom freed me from Dads suffocating embrace when she noticed that I was turning blue from lack of air. "Oh, Jack, set him down! You're suffocating him!"

As soon as I was breathing normally in the doorway where I stumbled back to, to catch my breath, (Hey don't look at me, even with a healing factor like I have, I still need air!) my mom ran forewords to hug me herself. As she was hugging me she cried out in joy, "Oh, Danny, we've missed you!"

Then she went stern while letting me go from the hug to hold me at arms length, "Don't you dare run away like that ever again! You are coming home right n-"

I cut her off before she could finish, "No, I'm not. I-I'm not coming with you. I have a new home now, and a m-girlfriend." Whew… close one. Nearly said mate.

That you did. Rahne thought back.

Mom stilled and started to scrutinize me, dad frowned as well as he looked me over. Now THAT was unusual.

"What do you mean you're not coming back, you have a new home, and WHO is your 'girlfriend'." uh oh she's ma- WAIT A MINUTE. Why'd she use air quotes on the word 'girlfriend'? Even Rahne's parents approve of me! My shocked and outraged look must have showed, because she glared right back, "Sam called us, to let us know that you were here, but she didn't mention this!"

I was confused, Sam called them? What doe- Sam did this? What else did she say? I voiced that last question out loud. Mom said, "Sweetie, she told us where you were and said that there was a problem that we didn't need to worry about, because she is working on it."

"'working on it'" I quoted skeptically, "Working on what?"

"She wouldn't say." Mom looked more curious than everything now, "she did happen to say it was about another girl, though. Why?"

I sighed deeply, "No she wouldn't, anyway- "I reached back and tugged Rahne foreword and gestured to her as I continued, "-this is Rahne, my girlfriend, and possibly the 'problem' Sam mentioned."

My parents turned to Rahne and smiled kindly or excitedly as mom introduced them, "Hi there sweetie! I'm Maddie and this is my husband, Jack!"

Rahne smiled beautifully, "I know, and it is nice to finally meet you. Danny's told me all about you."

Mom smiled again before she turned to me, "By the way Danny, what did you mean you can't come home with us? Is it because of Rahne, here? If it is, I completely understand that, she is absolutely beautiful!" Rahne blushed.

"Not completely." I was nervous and mom was even more confused now, dad was completely out of character as he seriously observed me. As they opened their mouths to ask what I mean, I quickly removed my inducer.

They inhaled in shock when they saw the 'new' me.
