Hello readers! As you may have noticed, my production of chapters have slowed down, and I'm REALLY sorry for that. It's just because of… SCHOOL stuff. You see, I'm a freshman in high school, and it means "Work". And yes here's the new chapter! And since "A Day in a Merc's Life" will be off soon, I want you to wait for my 2 connect-in stories with the same game, TF2! The titles will be "A Haibane Among Us: BLU Tears" and "A Haibane Among Us: RED Hatred". And as the chapters fleet by in ADML, you'll get information about BLU Tears and RED Hatred. For now enjoy the the chapter!~
"It started in a cold winter night." I started.
"When I was going to bed, I heard a knock on my door. Didn't expect a visitor for the next few weeks, but given that time, it was almost Christmas. But I did not expect that Engineer will be the one knocking at the door."
I heard a yawn, but I went on.
"Engineer pleaded to me to find Soldier, Medic and Heavy. I know it was an uneasy task, but I accepted. Nobody can ever help a video game character in real life. It took us weeks to months to find each person we need to find. And after that, I think that a friendship has actually formed."
"But, wait. You can't—" BLU Scout interrupted me, but the BLU Spy has toned him down, because there was interest in his hush.
"I may break the rules of Mann Co., but I do not care. Freindship or no friendship I'm going to have to help you guys out."
"Feh. So much for a thing. We don't need your help anyways. We're MEN. And men don't meddle with others affair" Saxton said.
And in that moment, a voice was heard. "Well then, I must congratulate you Soldier, and the others. I might want to say a hearty congratulations to you all!" Merasmus said. "Merasmus, stop with stupid stuff and GET TO THE FUCKING POINT." Saxton shouted. "Oho! No need for the swears Hale! I just came to you to inform that; anytime, anywhere, my army of the Underworld can attack you. So if I were anybody there, I would start planning on what to do. Maybe… they can be out there now! Tata!"
And so I believe that, that will be the last time we'll hear from Merasmus.
"So. Have you given your verdict?" I asked both the Administrator and Saxton Hale. They stayed silent.
"I guess you'll have to do." Saxton said. Cheers and shouts are thrown in the room. "But in one condition" He continued.
"I'll let you become a temporary helper in both teams, and you'll have to get us out of this mess. Fail, and you'll never hear of your so-called "friends" ever again."
We've crossed a by-pass. "If I fail, I will never speak to Engie or any of you again?" I asked. "Mmhm" Saxton approved. "…Well then. If I'm going to save a whole community of gamers, then LET'S DO IT!"
Things happened ever so quickly. I started assigning each class what to do.
"Scouts, you scout every area in the base, which ones are safe for us to stay and ones that do not. Soldiers, you go with the scouts, but obliterate anything that can be possession of Merasmus'. Pyros, go make bonfires, so that in case one of us gets lost, the smoke will tell where the base is. Demos, go bombard the surrounding area with bombs, we don't want any of merasmus' people going into our base. Engies, set up as many sentries as you can, and build dispensers in scattered areas so in case one of us goes down, we get health. Heavys, you stay in the interior of the base, you are our last line of defense. Medics, accompany both Heavys. Snipers stay in a hidden place and snipe any of merasmus' people. Finally, Spies, you can scout freely as you want, but bring back any valuable information."
They went to their assigned jobs, but before they all left, RED Engie said to me: "I'm glad to have a friend like ya, partner." And away they went. I was left with the administrator and Saxton, but we all stayed silent. "So?" The Administrator said "Are you going to assign us jobs?".
"Well you can go to the screen room and see if everything is ok. But I think Saxton, has to go back to his wor—"
"I'M GOING TO HELP OUT!" Saxton interrupted me. "Wait for me!"
The Administrator sighed, and went to her assigned job.
I was all alone in that same room when somebody picked up the flip phone.
"Whoa, what's this?" a voice of a guy said. "Put me down. Actually bring me with you, please."
It seems like they guy knows me because he said next "Alex, are you sure you're into this?"
I was silent. And then I offered him to sit and talk to me. "You're gonna WHAT now?" I asked him. "I'm goin' to ask people if they can help you out by joining here." He said. "Well, gee. Thanks, I do appreciate it."
And in the next few hours, I recruited 50+ people from all around the world, gave them jobs to do, and stuff.
In the last few slots for players to get in, I was stunned on what happened. Gabe Newell and some of Valve's staff joined in.
"Well Gabe, fancy meeting you here!" I said to him. "Well Alex, you're going to save one of our biggest games in Valve history, and why couldn't we help? Any free jobs we can take?"
I thought of it for a while, then I told him what to do.
"Gabe, I know you are an expert on FPS but this task I will assign is WAY different from the jobs I gave the others. It's a special one." I said.
"Well go on." He said.
"Gabe, I want you and your co-workers, to scout Merasmus' base, and retrieve information for me."
They thought of it for a while. "Maybe we can. Yes, we'll do it." He finally said.
"Well then, may the odds be in your favour." I wished them.
And out they go.
The end of this story may be near, but we're JUST GETTING STARTED ON THE REAL STORY.
