I changed it a few days after posting it because it annoyed me so much. Please just stick with me here.
"Are you alright?"
Austin opened up his locker, quite aggressively, and placed all of his textbooks and notes into it. He then turned to Dez, who had posed the question, and gave him a small glare.
"Does it look like I'm okay?" Austin exclaimed, throwing his hands into his hair. He faced the inside of his locker once again and let out a long sigh.
It had been a long day.
He had barely gotten enough sleep the night before, he had to write and print out a good share of papers, and he got sent out of his Algebra class for being "distracting " and "disrupting the class" or whatever. To be completely honest though, he was mostly stressing out over this thing he was doing with Ally that day.
It was like err like maybe a date?
He wasn't sure what it was. What he was sure of is that he finally grew a pair and asked her to meet up. When she didn't answer within an hour, his heart immediately sank. He kind of understood though, I mean how was anyone supposed to feel when some stranger asks them to meet up? So when she replied with an "of course!" he was so surprised he threw his phone across the room.
Or something like that.
And why didn't he get enough sleep last night? He spent the whole night chatting it up with Ally. Yeah yeah it's cliché, but Ally didn't seem to even mind.
An involuntary smile crept on Austin's lips as he remembered a specific conversation from last night…
"A giraffe? Really? You'd pick a giraffe over anything else in the world?" Austin asked.
Don't even ask how this conversation got started.
Ally huffed. "I mean well yeah! They're really tall so they could like reach things for me. And they have these really pretty big spots on them!"
Austin chuckled a little at her enthusiasm. "I mean well I'm pretty tall. Does that mean that I can be your best friend?" Austin asked cheekily.
"You still don't have spots though," Ally mumbled quietly.
Austin let out a small content sigh. "So does that mean I need to grow spots then?" Austin asked teasingly.
"I mean you're still no giraffe though," Ally said simultaneously bursting into a fit of giggles. She couldn't keep the smile from forming on her face. The way that he talked to her without a care in the world made her feel so warm and fuzzy inside.
"Eh fair enough."
Austin snapped out of his trance from the stinging sensation on his right cheek. He glared at Dez , who had a goofy smile etched on his face.
"What was that for?" Austin asked. Dez shrugged and reached into his bag for a comb.
"You had this stupid love stricken look on your face," Dez said nonchalantly. Dez shoved Austin out his way to use his mirror before brushing back his bright orange hair back.
Austin narrowed his eyes at the ginger. "I'm not love struck," he replied in a wary tone. Dez visibly raised his eyebrows before scoffing.
"Uh yeah sure. You're totally not thinking about Ally right now," Dez replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm. He gently placed the small black comb into Austin's locker and looked at Austin in the mirrors reflection. Dez smirked at the faint blush that had risen to Austin's cheeks.
Ignorant bastard.
"So speaking of Ally," Dez smiled as he saw Austin's ears perk up," Isn't your date today?" He asked. Austin just nodded his head quietly, not even bothering to correct him that it technically wasn't even a date. Dez just raised his eyebrows. "Well I hope you have some time after school to get ready cause you look like some shit right now."
Austin raised his left eyebrow before pushing Dez out his way and stared at himself in the mirror. Dez scoffed and brushed the nonexistent dirt off of his blazer and straightened his striped tie. Austin cautiously stared at himself.
He looked awful. There were dark circles under his eyes, which were barely even open, and his hair was completely disheveled. He groaned and patted his hair down slightly. He threw his hands up in frustration and faced Dez. "Well now what?"
Dez tapped his chin for a second before setting his backpack on the floor and rummaging through it. He pulled out a small tan tube and opened it. He looked up at Austin before smirking. "Just stay still okay man?"
Austin wove his eyebrows together. "Alright?" He said cautiously. Dez came close to his face and drew under his eyes, covering up the dark circles. Austin clenched his fists together through utter embarrassment and confusion.
They were in the middle of the hallway.
So yeah it was a private academy but people here were the most selfish people you would ever meet. Not to mention they were the worst judges of character. So when Dez pulls out a bottle of concealer, you wouldn't even imagine what kind of stuff goes through people's heads.
Dez pulled back and rubbed the areas under Austin's eyes. He smiled and put the small bottle back into his backpack. "Done!"
"Um Dez? Why do you have makeup in your backpack?" Austin questioned. Dez slung his backpack over his shoulders and raised his left eyebrow.
"Are you complaining?" Dez retorted. Austin shook his head as the first bell rang. He shut his locker before running off to his third period. Dez smiled lazily at the blonde boy ahead of him.
"You're fucking welcome by the way!"

Austin sluggishly dragged his legs behind him as he made his way to The Roast. Despite his dead behavior that day, The Roast was simply buzzing. He opened the door and a range of aromas instantly filled his body. He relaxed a bit before checking the time.
2:47 PM.
He shoved his hands deep in his side pockets and went up to the counter. He smiled at the tiny redhead who was making eye contact with him. He gave her his order and threw a few crumpled bills on the counter. The girl gave him a big smile before writing down something on his receipt. She tucked the hair behind her ear and slid the receipt over to Austin, who had his eyebrows raised. He glanced at the receipt for a mere second before giving her a shy smile.
Austin pressed his lips into a narrow line before taking two fingers and sliding the receipt back to her. He gave her the smallest smile, before giving her a bashful "no thank you".
He left the small redhead before making his way to one of the only empty tables and sitting down.
2:58 PM.
As he waited for Ally to arrive, he started to get unusually anxious. They haven't seen each other in at least a few weeks. What if she forgot what he looked like? Well the last time she saw him he totally made an idiot out of himself.
He groaned. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. He cautiously took a sip of his latte and nervously bounced his leg up and down. He anxiously took out his phone and turned it on.
3:04 PM.
If she didn't come in 10 minutes, he'd just get up and leave.
Yeah no just kidding.
That was a total lie.
He also had 3 new text messages from Dez, but he definitely did not even want to think about all the snarky remarks he would probably be making right now.
He placed his head in his hands for a minute. She probably thinks you're just some weird blonde kid who dyes his hair.
His ears perked up at the sound of a bell. He slowly raised his head and trained his eyes at the door. He eyed a small chestnut haired girl. He squinted his eyes a bit to try to see the front of her face. When she made her way up the line to order, he began to scoot his seat at an angle so he could maybe possibly see her face.
When he couldn't, Austin groaned and leaned back in his seat, rather bored. He tapped his fingers on the table a bit before looking up once more. He saw the same brunette pay for her drink and glance in his direction.
His throat became dry. Ally sent a small smile in his direction before making her way over to him. He tried to excuse the dumbass look on his face by smothering himself with his latte.
His eyes were trained on her every movement. When she pulled up the empty seat at Austin's table, she gave him a warm smile and set down her drink. Her eyes were sparkling as she looked straight into Austin's eyes.
He opened his mouth slightly to speak, but nothing came out. He just shook his head very timidly before closing both of his eyes for a second. When he finally opened them, he stared straight into Ally's dazzling eyes and gave her a small smile.
"Hi," he finally managed to breathe out.
This was awful I'm sorry. I've also been pretty busy with all of my AP classes and sports and everything just sucks right now because my time management is awful.
Honestly updating has been the furthest thing from my mind and it shouldn't be that way. Thanks for sticking with me. See you all in a few.
P.S Also stick with Austin for just a little longer. I'm making him work out his jitters ok
