Chapter 3: Emmett's Feeling Come Out
Edward's POV
The was still dark out when Alice had a vision.
I saw that Emmett was asking Nova to marry him.
But Nova look different, a lot different form now.
She didn't look so sick and she put some weight on her.
That was it.
I looked at Alice and she looked at me.
Edward I need to talk to you.
Lets go out side.
Alice thought.
We got up and they looked at us.
"I be right back Jasper."
Alice said before she kissed him.
We went out side and went a few miles away.
"There is something I need to tell you Edward. For the last few year I knew about Nova."
She said and I looked at her.
"Why didn't you say anything?"
I asked her.
"Cause after that one fight between Emmett and Rose. Is when I saw Nova coming into the family."
Alice said.
I didn't say anything.
"Beside Emmett deserves to be happy with his true mate."
Alice said and I looked at her.
"What about Rose? She is going to be pissed off and alone!"
I said with a growl.
Cause she was like a sister to me.
"She will find her mate sooner then she thinks."
Alice said but wasn't thinking about it.
"You saw it happing?"
I asked her and she nodded her head.
"But I don't know if Nova is going to live or not."
Alice said in a low voice.
"Why you say that?"
I asked softly.
Alice looked at me.
"Cause what ever is wrong with her. I cant really see that far into her future. I seen her dying but she lives. But when Rose fines out she is going to try and kill her." Alice said in a sad voice.
"What is going to happen when that happens?"
I asked her.
"See that's something I been trying to see but its like a blind spot. I cant see that. You see some vampires when they lose their mates. Do you think Emmett can go on with out her?"
Alice said.
I have heard what other vampires minds were after they lost their mate.
They kind of went numb.
They didn't really care what was going around them.
Some of them just ended it.
"I don't want to see Emmett to go like that."
I finally said.
Alice nodded.
"Yeah will we better get back."
Alice said and we took off back to the house.
As we got closer we could hear Rosalie yelling at Emmett.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN WE SHOULD SEE OTHER PEOPLE! !" Rosalie screamed.
Carlisle, Esme and Jasper were out side by the river.
"How long has this been going on?"
I asked them.
"It just started."
Carlisle said in a low voice.
"I hope they don't destroy the house."
Esme said with worry for Emmett and Rose.
"You know we have be growing apart this last 50 years. I don't think we were meant to be."
Emmett said in a low voice.
Rose screamed again.
"AFTER EVERYTHING WE BEEN THROUGH YOU WANT TO SPLIT UP LIKE THAT! !"
Rose screamed even louder.
We stood there waiting and listening.
"You cant tell me that you haven't see or felt it."
Emmett said.
Rose was thinking how could he not want her anymore.
She is beautiful and like him.
She saved his life and after all these years he wants to get a divorce.
"No I haven't seen or felt it. Sure we fight sometimes but its something that all couples do."
Rose said this time not screaming.
She was trying to calm her self down.
"But we are vampires Rose. Since you been with Carlisle and Esme have you every seen them fight? When we find our true mates we don't fight."
Emmett said.
I noticed that to but wasn't to sure if it was all mated vampires or just a few. "There is nothing I can say for you to stay?"
Rose said.
If she could cry she would be right now.
"I'm sorry Rosalie. I am very think full for you saving my ass that day. Being with you made me see things differently. You will find your true mate some day."
He said.
"Oh God!"
Alice said.
I could see what she was seeing.
"Carlisle you need to get over to Nova's house now!"
We both said.
He didn't ask why.
I took off with him.
"Edward what is wrong?"
Carlisle asked as we ran.
"Nova is about to die by chocking on her own blood. Charlie left a hour ago."
I said as we went to the door.
It was locked and Carlisle didn't have the key.
"Break down the door."
He said as I hit it.
Nova was laying on the floor trying to gasp for air while blood came out of her mouth.
But it wasn't red blood.
It looked like that black gunk she was cough up the other day.
"I need a small tube or something so she can breath!"
Carlisle said as he started to work fast.
Alice was at my side before I could go and look for what he need.
She had the tube and a small knife.
No One's POV
When Alice handed Carlisle the stuff Emmett came in and roar.
"NOVA! !"
It took Edward and Jasper to pull him out of the house.
Carlisle cut her skin then put the tube down into her throat.
Nova was able to breath again.
The black blood still came out of her mouth.
"It should be almost done."
Alice said to them.
"What do you mean Alice?"
Carlisle said to her.
"That black blood will empty out of her lungs and she be able to breath with out the tube."
Alice said as she moved Nova's red hair out of the black blood.
"You called that stuff black blood."
Carlisle said.
"That's what it is. I don't know what it really is. But that's what Nova calls is." Alice said.
"I see while when she wakes up I can talk to her more about it. If it wasn't for you Alice she would have died."
Carlisle said to her.
Alice smiled at little.
"I know and she cant die like that. Its all out now."
Alice said and Carlisle pulled out the tube and Nova was breathing on her own.
So Carlisle patched Nova up and Alice took her up to her room to clean her up. "You can let Emmett come back in."
Alice said from up stairs.
Esme was cleaning up the black blood on the floor.
Emmett came in and went straight to Nova's room.
Alice put her in some nice clothes and laid her on the bed.
Emmett saw that she had bandages around her neck.
Her breath was low and Emmett fell to his knees beside Nova's bed.
Then he took her hand and put his lips against her pale hand.
"Nova you cant die on me. I need you more then ever now. Seeing you like that made me really think."
Emmett said and every one was listening to him.
Rosalie just walked in.
"I love you Nova. I cant lose you now that I can be with you."
He said and Rosalie screamed as she flew up the stairs.
"I'M GOING TO KILL HER!"
Rosalie said.
Emmett went to the door to hold her off.
"YOU WILL NOT HURT HER! ! !"
Emmett roared at her.
Before Rosalie got to the door.
Nova was standing in from of Emmett.
Both of them didn't see her move there.
Rosalie smiled thinking this was going to be easy.
No sick bitch was going to take her man with out a fight.
Nova opened her eyes then when Rosalie was about to touch her.
Nova screamed louder then Rosalie.
This wasn't her normal screaming voice.
This was more powerful that all of the Cullen's had to put their hands over their ears.
Rosalie was sent flying back down the hall and over the railing.
She landed on her feet but was looked away.
Nova stopped and started to fall.
Emmett caught her before she hit the floor.
He put her back into the bed.
Every one besides Rosalie went up to her room.
Emmett looked at them.
"Was that her?"
Edward said.
"Yes but I never hear her do that before."
Emmett said to them.
Carlisle was looking at the black leather book beside Nova's bed on the table.
"Do you think she would mind if I looked at her book?"
He asked Emmett.
"No but you wont be able to read it."
He said.
"Don't worry Emmett. I meant a Van Helsing who became a friend. He showed me how to read their books."
Carlisle said.
They watch him flip threw the page's till he came to the banshee.
Emmett and Edward Knew why he was going to it.
"I don't understand."
Carlisle said after a while of reading.
"What?"
Edward said to him.
"There isn't a lot about them. It just says that a banshee has a very powerful scream. When they scream is mean someone is about to die. Some of them can use their scream to control people. There isn't a lot about them. It say's they are so rare that they don't have a lot of data on them."
Carlisle said.
"Doe is say that why are sick all the time or something?"
Emmett said asked Carlisle.
"No it don't."
Carlisle said as he looked up.
Nova sat up and looked around.
"What happened?"
She said to them.
"You almost die."
Emmett said to her.
As he helped her sit up.
"Do you remember what happened?"
Carlisle said as he went into Doctor mode.
"I was going to the kitchen to get some water. Then I couldn't breathe. I could taste that black blood. The more I tried to take in air the more the blood came up. Then I fell to the ground that's the last thing I remember."
Nova said.
Esme handed her a glass of water.
"Thank you ma'ma."
Nova said before she drank it all.
"Do you remember anything after that?"
Edward asked her.
"No I don't. Did I do something wrong?"
Nova said in a worry voice.
They all looked at each other.
"No you didn't."
Carlisle said.
Nova smiled a little.
"Thank you Doctor for saving me."
Nova said to him.
"Your welcome."
Carlisle said.
Nova saw her book in Carlisle's hands.
"What are you looking up?"
She asked them.
"Oh I was just looking at it."
Carlisle said.
"Your lying."
Nova said we her green eyes flashed to a dark purple.
Carlisle took a step back.
"How did you know?"
Edward said.
Nova's dark purple eyes looked over at him.
"I can hear a lie. It sounds different form the truth."
Nova said as her eyes turned back green.
The Cullen's looked at each other then looked back at her.
"I was looking up the banshee."
Carlisle said.
"Why?"
Nova said as she looked down at her hand that had Emmett's hand in hers.
"We think we know why you scream as loud as you do."
Carlisle said softly.
Nova didn't move.
"You noticed it to? But that book doesn't give me a lot about them. So I could be a banshee but I'm not sure."
Nova said as she looked away from the rest of them.
"You screamed when you were out and sent someone flying down the hall."
Jasper said.
Nova didn't looked at anyone but the wall.
"Did I hurt anyone?"
She said softly.
"You have nothing to be ashamed of what you did. You were protecting your self and Emmett."
Jasper said.
"How do you know what I'm feeling?"
Nova said in a low voice.
That said don't lie again to me.
"I have the ability to both feel and manipulate the emotions of those around me." Jasper said. Nova looked at him.
"I see."
She said.
"You were talking to me while I was out?"
Nova asked Emmett.
"Yes I was."
He said with a smile on his face.
"What did you say?"
Nova said as she looked at him.
"I said: I love you Nova. I cant lose you now that I can be with you."
Emmett said.
Rosalie screamed as she left the house.
No one said anything.
"I love you to Emmett but. . ."
Nova said not sure how to say this.
Emmett didn't the but Nova said.
"But what Nova?"
Emmett said.
Emmett's POV
When Nova said she loved me back I was happy.
But then she use but at the end.
That is never good.
"But what Nova?"
I said.
She looked at me with tears going down her face.
My family watch us.
"But this isn't going to last long."
Nova sobbed.
"It will last. We will find something that will heal you."
I said.
"I don't want you to try and fail cause it will hurt you more."
Nova said as more tears ran down her face.
"I don't want to sit by and watch you die. I know there is a way to save you. I just have to find it."
I said as I pulled her softly into my lap.
I felt her tear hit my neck.
"You are worth it Nova."
Jasper said.
I looked at him.
"No I'm not."
Nova said.
Jasper looked mad now.
"Nova you have to believe that you are going to get better if not then you wont." Jasper said in a firm voice.
She looked at him then nodded.
"Your right. I know I said to my self I wasn't going to ask this. But since you think I'm a banshee. Can I ask if your vampires?"
Nova said.
I looked at them.
"Since you're a Van Helsing you pick up on what we are faster then humans. Yes we are Nova."
Carlisle said in a low voice.
I could feel every one held their breathes.
"I thought so. But I'm not going to tell anyone. It doesn't matter to me what you guys are. You saved my ass today and I know you will do it again. Can I ask one thing?" Nova said and this time Edward answered.
"Yes Nova."
Edward said with a small smile.
"Is it true that vampires don't sleep?"
Nova asked.
"That's true."
I said.
Then she slowly got off my lap.
"That's good cause I know in a few years this is going to come in handy."
Nova said as she slowly walked out of her room.
We followed her.
I knew were she was going.
She was starting to slow down even more so I picked her up and headed to the library.
When she turned on the lights every one just looked at how huge it was.
"Most of this is my family history but most of it is in the sublevels."
Nova said.
"Emmett take me to that wall please."
Nova said.
I took her to the wall and she touched it.
Then a keypad flipped around.
She hit in the password and the floor to the left started to move it made stair that went down deep.
"How many levels are there?"
Carlisle asked.
"52 or so. The deep you go the older the books are. They go from old to young I guess you can say. The books on the very bottom are the books the first Van Helsing wrote and passed down. If there is anything about what is wrong with me. We should started from the bottom."
Nova said in a weaker voice.
"Ok we better get started. Would it be ok if we came over at night to look?" Carlisle said.
"You guys don't have to do this. I'm going to look for it."
I said cause I couldn't let them drop their life for Nova.
"Emmett she is going to be family some day. We aren't going to lose her." Edward said.
"Emmett sweetie we are going to help. Nova needs us to help. The more of us that is looking the faster we can find what is happing to her."
Esme said to me.
I smiled at them.
"Thank you."
I said to her.
"Carlisle and I are the only one's that can read the code. I can teach you all before you look. Carlisle can started looking."
Nova said.
"Before we get started lets make a space for you to rest while we are looking." Carlisle said.
So we started to get very thing ready.
I moved a bed into the library.
Alice brought in a glass of broth that Nova made while Charlie was here.
"Thank you."
Nova said.
"My name is Alice."
Alice said.
"Sorry Nova. That's Alice that is Jasper. And that is Esme."
I said and she smiled.
I left the room and I heard Alice telling Nova who Rose was and why she wasn't there.
I went down stairs to fix the door.
By the time I came back to the library Nova was almost done telling them how they code works.
It didn't sound hard.
They use 30 different languages to write.
But it was a little hard to know each languages they picked.
To a Van Helsing they can see past the codes.
So I brought up a few books so Nova could help out.
Cause she didn't want to sit in bed all night with nothing to do.
"Emmett?"
Nova said in a low voice.
I looked at her as she pulled a book onto her lap
"Yes Nova?"
I said.
"What if we find it but its to late?"
Nova said in a lower voice.
I know she is worried but I know she wanted to talk about this.
I sat down on her bed.
"I cant live with out you. So if you go then I will to."
I said and I saw fear in her eyes.
Nova put her hands on ether side of my face and pulled me closer to hers.
Then her lips pressed against mine softly.
I kissed her back softly so I wouldn't hurt her.
When I pulled back there was fire in her eyes now.
So I left her alone to her books.
I found Edward at the bottom of the library.
He smiled at me.
"What?"
I said to him.
"You have changed her life."
Edward said.
I looked at him as I looked threw a book.
"Cause before she just wanted to die. Now she wants to get better and live with you."
He said and I smiled a little.
"How did I changed her?"
I said cause I really didn't do anything.
"You became her friend that she wanted most. She didn't understand her feeling until you said you loved her. When you said if she goes then so will you. Nova didn't want that to happen. Not just cause she loves you but because we would be sad if you died to." Edward said.
I didn't know how much I meant to her and them.
I was just thinking of my self and Nova.
I forgot about my family, I'm such at bad person.
"No your not Emmett you in love and it can sometimes blinds you."
Edward said with a smile.
Then we got back to work.
Five months Later
Emmett's POV Still
Its been five months and we still haven't found anything.
Nova got worse some days and others she was fine.
Carlisle had one of us stay with her at all times.
During the day while Nova slept Esme watched over her and kept looking.
Nova sleeps all day and stays up all night with us.
I wanted her to sleep more but she wanted to help us.
I went hunting the day before.
So I could have some alone time with Nova while every one went hunting.
Rose went to stay with Tanya's coven again.
So after school I went to Nova's house and Esme left to go hunting with the others.
I sat beside Nova's bed while she slept.
I put my hand into her hand.
Her body stay's so hot that sometimes I have to stop looking and hold her till she cools down.
When I first started to do this I would wake her up cause she would feel something cold.
But now she is use to it and likes it.
"How long you been here Ems?"
Nova's voice said softly as she looked up at him.
I smiled at her.
"Not long. If your still tired you can go back to sleep love."
I said as I moved some of her hair out of her face.
She kissed my hand when I touched her face.
"I'm not tired today. Besides I fell asleep early last night."
Nova said as she rolled over to her back and sat up.
"You want some broth?"
I asked cause she didn't really 'eat' last night.
Nova mostly drinks at lest six cups.
But last night she only had one.
Just two months ago she got a new kind of mix from her parents.
This one was helping her to put on some weight not a lot.
But at lest she is gaining some.
"Sure but can I go sit with you while you make it?"
Nova said.
I smiled and helped her up off the bed.
As we walked I could see that she wasn't having so much trouble walking.
Nova put her hand into mine as we walked.
I'm 6'5 and Nova is 5'2 so she has to look up at me.
When we got to the kitchen I sat her down on at stool beside me.
So she wasn't alone at the table.
I started to make the broth for her will Nova watched me.
"Emmett?"
Nova said.
I looked over at her and she making that face.
When she wants something.
I smiled at her.
"Yes my sweet Nova?"
I said to her as I wiggled my eyebrows at her.
She giggled at me.
"I want to kiss you."
Nova said in her low voice.
Her green eyes were locked on my golden ones.
I smiled as I walked over to her and kissed her lips.
Then she slid her tongue into my mouth.
I played with her tongue.
But then her tongue went over my teeth.
She didn't pull back but then I tasted something sweet and thick.
I didn't know what it was but when my tongue went back over her tongue.
it was coming from her.
I pulled away fast and Nova looked at me then a little blood came out of her mouth.
It smelt different from before.
"What happened?"
Nova said.
"You cut your tongue on my teeth."
I said thinking how long her tongue was in my mouth.
Nova moved her tongue in her mouth and her eyes got wide.
"You are you ok? I bet it taste awful I'm really sorry."
Nova said as she looked away from me.
"No Nova it didn't taste bad at all. It was sweet and thick. I hate to say this but I like it."
I said and she looked at me.
"I didn't even feel the cut."
Nova said as she grabbed a towel and stuck out her tongue then put the towel against her bleeding tongue.
The smell of the black blood was started to change to a sweet mouth watering scent.
It was like her blood was being cleaned but it was still coming out black.
"You ok Emmett?" Nova said bring me back out of my mind. "Yes I'm fine. But lets not tell other what happened or think about it."
I said and she nodded.
"If you feel a burning running threw you let me know ok?"
I said to Nova with worry.
"Ok but why would I feel burning?"
Nova asked.
"Will since you cut you tongue in my mouth and it was in threw for a while. Some of my venom might have gotten in and you will turn into a vampire."
I said.
Her eyes got wide.
"If it will turn me into a vampire then why not turn me into one!"
Nova said to me.
"We aren't aloud to when we are here in Forks."
I said and she looked at me.
So I told her about the treaty we have with the wolfs in La Push.
"There are werewolves in La Push?!"
Nova said to me.
"Yes."
I said to her while I finish up with the broth.
"You really have to be careful with the broth."
I said as I handed it to her.
Then we headed back to the library.
Nova didn't say anything as we walked up the stairs and down the hall.
Nova sat on the bed and looked at me.
"So if we do find a way to heal me. I still have to die someday."
Nova said in a low voice.
I didn't like seeing her like this.
"It not that I don't want to its just if we do then can never come back to Forks again."
I said and she looked at me.
"I don't want to die."
Nova said as she drank more of the broth.
I was waiting for her to cry but Nova didn't.
Some times I wish I could hear thoughts like Edward so I know what she is thinking.
Nova took a drink of her broth not saying anything.
I didn't know if she was mad or sad.
She doesn't let it show on her face.
I sat next to her will she drank.
The she gasped.
"Whats wrong!"
I said as I flew to my feet.
"Its not a burning pain. Its just my regular pain."
Nova is in a lot of pain.
I took her broth so she wouldn't burn her self.
Nova was having a seizure again.
I hate watching her have one of this.
It hurt me so bad that I cant do anything for her.
They don't last long but they still worry me.
I don't know how long I can take seen her in so much pain.
