Book 2: The one winged dragon
Summary: Now that the door of his past are beginning to open Drake along with his family and hunters must found the relationship between the mavericks with the white fang and Roman Torchwick not knowing that he has yet to face stronger challenges.
Chapter 12
"I never expected the situation to turn this bad!" shouted Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck from inside the nearly destroyed paladin while Zwei was on the top of it.
"We insisted to stay but he ordered us to go and warm the city." Replied Gunvolt who was still using the railing to impulse while his brother was flying next to him at a slower speed since they were talking with the doctor.
"He did the right thing! You two go on ahead!" said Oobleck seeing that the paladin could not go any faster making both nod and then speed up.
"Are you sure you are ok?" asked Gunvolt as they saw the end of the tunnel and the sound of roars and fighting making him worry for his younger brother who was not being himself right now.
Vent looked at his brother still with red eyes and nodded with a blank face not making him feel any better about the situation, yes he was happy that Vent could finally being able to fight, but he knew what his little brother was doing and the fact that he still has in his mind his previous injury made by orchid didn't make things any better.
But there was nothing he could do to stop him, this made Gunvolt mentally prepare for the worst as they stepped out of the tunnel to see the how bad was the situation.
The young blonde quickly did a search on the area to see the Team of 4 girls he had met when he was in the academy and the blonde and the red head members of the other team and a great number of Atlas knights making him frown seeing that his other uncle was not there with them.
"Do you see him?" asked Gunvolt as he looked at his side to see that Vent was no longer standing there and instead running to the zone that had the more Grimm making his big brother twitch in annoyance.
'Wonder if this is how Dad and Drake feel about Axl`s actions?'
Emerald Sustrai considered herself many things, a perfect example of a lying person, a 'very well known master thief', and the most important thing right now, a confident fighter, one that didn't get surprised to easily, yet here she was looking dumb folded as she saw another pack of Grimm that was coming to her suddenly being killed as small holes appeared on their bodies and then fall down.
'That was my kill.'
Yes, she also got prideful when someone stole something from her, this time it was fairly obvious what it was.
She looked around trying to find the so called thief only to stop as in front of her was a blaster millimeters from her face this act made her go wide as she immediately moved her head to the side to avoid the shot.
"Are you out of your mind!?" shouted Emerald while Vent simply motioned his head indicating she looked behind her to see a Beowulf with a hole on his mask falling in the ground.
"You could have say something!" shouted the green head as she looked at Vent who was gone again to deal with more Grimm infuriating her even more.
"Who the hell does he think he is!?"
"The same kid you guided through the academy some time ago, and the same one who recognized all the functions of your weapons instantly." Said Cinder who walked calmly to Emerald while said girl blinked as she remembered Vent. She didn't recognized because his eyes weren't red and was not wearing his current clothes.
"I thought you say that judging by his attitude he wasn't a fighter yet his talent resided elsewhere."
Cinder put her hand under her chin and saw how Vent fought; it was precise and lethal not missing the chance to land a killing shot and making good use of what Cinder could see was wind manipulation. But what really caught her eyes were the look on his face blank and stoic while his eyes were cold without a single hint of hesitation of what to do next.
"It would be nice if you warned me the next time you plan to leave me talking alone." Said a calm voice as a blue blur passed above then while the sound of electricity cracking could be heard.
Vent who recognized the voice gave a step away as he avoided the little blue electric projectiles that hit the Grimm not making any damage until a current of blue electricity coming from Gunvolt`s palm burning the skin of the Grimm.
"You wouldn't happen to have seen Axl do you?" asked the blonde while Vent just shook his head.
"Fantastic." Muttered Gunvolt as he saw Vent raising his arm making air bullets appear around him.
'Not just his wind manipulation but also his tricks?' asked Gunvolt to himself as he saw the Grimm that were coming at them to then been stroke down as small holes appeared on their bodies.
"That didn't seem right." Muttered Gunvolt as he noticed that the holes were positioned in a vertical from instead of a frontal one which meant…
"Why the hell are you two here!? And why does Vent can use my techniques!?"
Everyone, even Cinder and Emerald looked up to see a king taijutu falling from the sky while an orange haired girl was sitting on top of the head while the other two tried their best to hold up until the body of the snake hit the ground.
"Why didn't you try to stop the fall?" asked Ren as he slowly stood up, "Better question yet, why did I let you convince me of letting Nora ride another Grimm?"
"Because it was fun!" exclaimed Nora as she swung her hammer sending the body of the Grimm again and then looked at Ren asking for another try while Axl walked to his nephews ready to begin a verbal assault on Vent not noticing what he was wearing, that was until he saw the near emptiness in his eyes making him notice everything and putting the pieces together.
"Vent you-"
"Not the time," said Gunvolt interrupting Axl, "We need to send someone in the tunnel ASAP, Drake stayed there to hold a pack of Goliaths from coming here."
"He should be fine-"
"He fought the wielder of Pandemonium before that."
That shut him up instantly as his eyes turned red while Ren`s eyes narrowed at the mention of that person.
"You two stay here and do not over do it." Said Axl as he looked at Vent who nodded after a few seconds as Axl looked at Ren, "Sorry I have to leave you alone in babysitting duty." Said Axl as Ren nodded while Nora wondered what was going on as she saw Axl leaving.
"Don't get to… far." Said Ren as he turned around to see that Vent was gone was again while Gunvolt just sighed, "This is becoming a bad habit."
"Tell me about it." Said Ren as he saw that Nora was no where to be seen making both sigh as they ran to look for them in all the chaos that was in the city not realizing that Cinder hand seen the exchange of words with interest.
Lie Ren was surprised, something that didn't usually happened, especially when you were best friends with Nora Valkyrie.
According the Axl from the few words Axl had share of his family, his nephews were an especial topic to him, one having the attitude of another certain blonde and the ability to become a great hunter while the other one… not so much.
So you could see Ren was analyzing every move Vent did as he fought against the Grimm having an awful sense of déjà vu seeing that he was fighting with the same exactly style as Axl did.
"I didn't thought you were the type to lose focus." Said Gunvolt as he finished with the Grimm on his zone.
"I finished before you so I took a little time to take a break… besides,"
Ren looked to the side to see Nora bombarding some boarbatusks, "I need to keep an eye for her the most."
"Yet you are seeing my brother fight."
"It is just it is…"
"Weird, indeed, I never thought he would be capable of fulfilling his dream like this." Said Gunvolt picking Ren`s curiosity as he saw Vent finishing with the last Grimm to which then he heard Gunvolt sigh and for a good reason.
"That looked like it was the last one." Said Ren as he noticed that Nora was also done with her part.
"Lets go back to the others." Said Ren as he walked to where everyone was reuniting while Gunvolt walked to his brothers who just stood there.
"Deactivate your domain now, there are no more targets left." Said Gunvolt who looked at his brother until he his eyes opened slightly as he saw him fall on his knees making the blonde run before his body could hit the ground.
"Vent."
The brother looked at his younger with worry as he noticed that he had a little trace of blood coming from his mouth making his eyes go wide as he remembered the wound that Orchid had done.
"AURA INSUFFICIENT, FORCING DEACTIVATION, M.E.G.A SYSTEM OFFLINE."
Gunvolt got surprised at the sound of the sudden voice since it sounded exactly like Axl`s, not a second later a while blinding light surrounded Vent for a second to then reveal he was back to his usual clothes while the little object he called biometal Fall in the ground.
Gunvolt, completely ignoring that, looked at his brother's chest to see that the wound was not only there, but that it also was more open than before.
"It is quite amazing he was able to fight with that wound… and the bones of the side of his body looks to be really fracture as well" Said a female voice that GV acknowledged yet didn't saw Cinder since he was using green electricity to stimulate his body and aura to heal.
"That was because he wasn't being aware of himself."
"I already send someone to bring a medic, anything I can do?" asked Cinder as she eyed the wound on Vent.
"Yes, can you please pick up that thing over there, he would kill me if something happened to it." Said Gunvolt starting to relieve seeing that the hole on his chest was not as big as before while Cinder did as told only to stay to stare at the object in her hand trying to figure out how did it work not expecting what was going to happen next.
"For a hot woman, you really have cold hands."
GV eyes widened as he looked around the moment he heard Axl`s voice only to see he wasn't here.
"It talks?" asked Cinder getting his attention to see that device was floating in front of her.
"That is just mean, I have feeling too you know?"
Gunvolt stared at the biometal looking at it as if he was arming a simple yet hard puzzle, "Why do you sound like Axl?"
The device looked at him, "You are supposed to be smart," the device flew in front of him, "Figure it out."
The moment it say that, the biometal shut off and landed in front of Gunvolt who was twitching his eyes at the comment.
'Just like uncle.' Thought Gunvolt as he saw some members of the staff of beacon coming with an stretcher and then took Vent away much to his relieve since he was now stable.
"Any idea what that could be?"
GV stopped his train of thought as he looked at the woman in red who was pointing at the biometal at hand.
"Sorry, but even I don't know what this is, my little brothers is really secretive with this kind of things."
"Shame, and here I thought I could see something interesting." Said Cinder trying to see if she could get something out of the blonde, too bad his attitude was just like Drake`s.
"Too bad."
That was all Gunvolt said as he walked away to join the staff of beacon to see if there was any news of Drake while Cinder wondered why was it so hard to get information out of that family.
"Is that blood?"
The blonde stopped his walking as he immediately identified the owner of the voice.
"Prad- Coco was it?" asked Gunvolt as he saw the team leader looking at him getting the attention of everyone.
"Yes, and I repeat my question, is that blood?"
"The answer should be pretty obvious," the statement made Coco twitch, "And to answer your next, no it is not mine… all of it."
"What exactly happened after we left you and your brother in the tunnel," said Ruby getting ahead of whatever coco was going to say, "Also," she then pointed at the bullhead were Vent was being put.
"Why is your brother like that with a hole on his chest, what was that he was wearing, and what exactly is that?" asked Ruby who then took a deep breath.
"I think those are to many questions." Said Blake making GV shook his head as she also stared at the biometal that was no longer on his hand but instead floating on next to him.
"No it is all right, lets do this in order, too much to tell, he got shot from behind by the brother of that crazy psychopath, I really have no idea and… I really have no idea."
Everyone sweat dropped, "That didn't answer anything!" exclaimed Ruby.
"Deal with it."
Everyone just stared at the device, "Did it just sounded like Axl?" asked Yang making the question that was currently in everyone minds.
"Hey! Don't call me it! I have feeling!"
Ren didn't know why, but there was something of this whole situation that told him there was going to be a pain in the future.
"Ignoring whatever… he is,"
"Thank you."
"Where they hell are you uncles anyway, I know for a fact that Axl came here with the first years, but I don't see him anywhere, and what about Drake."
"That one I do know, he went to look for Drake on the tunnel-"
"The same tunnel that was filled with Grimm?" asked Blake.
GV nodded.
"The same one it was sealed by professor Goodwitch?" asked Weiss making GV look at the tunnel and then look at them only to nod again.
"And you are relaxed by all this because?" asked the final letter of team RWBY wanting to hear a good reason why he was being so carefree of the whole situation.
"Because Axl went to look for him, and I am sure those two are able to take care of themselves just find, even if they have to deal with a pack o-Hmmm?"
Gunvolt finished his sentences even if had put a hand on his mouth no letting him say the word 'Goliaths.'
He looked to his side to see it was Glynda Goodwitch who had done the action.
"There is no need to charge any information now since I am pretty sure have to do a report about it," said Glynda as she then looked at her own students, "the same goes for all of you."
Everyone frowned at objected at that; "Enough!" said Glynda in a loud voice making her student to be quiet as if they all were trained dogs.
"Your uncles are already on Beacon with no harm, we will also take your brother to the infirmary so your father can pick him up, would you like a ride as well?"
GV thought about it deeply one for one part he wanted to go and see Vent recover, but the other one wanted to tell his father the important tip of information he managed to get from his fight with Orchid.
"Wow… I think it is the first time I see him… so not serious." Said Ruby as she saw Drake sleeping peacefully.
"A weird event indeed." Said Yang nodding her head in agreement while Gunvolt stared at him noticing none of his weapons were with him.
'Axl probably has them.' Thought the blonde being more worried about a certain green blade more than the others.
"Hey wake up."
Everyone turned their heads to the bed next to Drake`s to see the biometal levitating in front of Vent.
"In case you haven't notice I am trying to rest."
"And miss the chance of telling 'I told you!' not a chance."
"What is he talking about?" asked Ruby clearly intrigued of what was the floating device and more importantly the armor Vent was using.
"I told this idiot creator of mine not no put to much aura with that wound, and what happened' he fainted."
"Still, totally worth it, I managed to get back at that psycho and shut her up."
"You mean the one that was on the train, who was she anyway?" asked Blake and then looked at Yang, "And from where do you know her?"
"Well…" Yang said thinking in a good way to explain this since Drake`s brother had asked her not to say a thing of what happened in the forest.
"It doesn't really matter right now, the important thing is that I beat her in the best way possible although…"
"What?" asked GV seeing that his brother was divagating.
"I just wish I had used another one liner?"
"Huh?" that was the question everyone made.
"I wanted to say something cool before making my debut."
"You meant my debut, and the one you say it was nice."
"I don't know, 'Turn you into trash' doesn't sound as cool now that I think it."
"That`s what you are worried about?" asked Gunvolt.
"I actually understand him, if I was going to beat someone I would do exactly the same." Said Yang
"Don't encourage him." Said Gunvolt rubbing the spot between his eyes.
"Burning out your tongue sounds nice." Said Vent
"You do know I cannot generate fire rigth."
"Oh right… can't think of anything else."
"What about ripping you apart?" Yang suggested.
"That one is overused a lot, give this dumbass time, he might think on another in a week or so."
"Shut down." Ordered Vent twitching his eye as the device fell in front of him.
"So that's how you shut him down." Exclaimed GV as he caught the biometal that was thrown to him.
"Take him away, I don't want it to reactivate again while I am resting." Said Vent whose eyes started to close again while Weiss put a Ruby`s mouth so she didn't stop him since she still wanted to know what was that.
"We will take our leave then." Said GV as he walked to the four girls and looked at each of them until he looked at Blake and tossed the model A at her gaining a confused look.
"I don't want to keep it either, give it to my uncle when you see him please." That was the last thing Gunvolt said as he walked out of the infirmary.
"Why did he gave it to you?" asked Ruby trying to reach the object but the Faunus did not let her.
"Maybe because of that." Muttered Weiss who started to wonder why he didn't gave it to her either.
"Excuse me."
Everyone turned around to see a woman with skin as white as Weiss`s with hair of color lavender wearing a white uniform, "I think you already checked on your friends, would it be to much trouble to leave so they can rest peacefully." Said the nurse with a smile that was obvious she was forcing, almost as if it was telling them, 'Leave now! You are to noisy!'
"So- Sorry about that, we will take our leave." Said Ruby as she walked out of the infirmary with Weiss behind her while Yang and Blake gave one last glance to the blonde, "At least he is sleeping… even if his clothes have blood on it" Said Yang gaining a glare from Blake.
"You know?" asked Blake as they headed out of the infirmary.
"Yeah, and all of the sudden your behavior whenever he was mentioned makes sense… care sharing notes?" Said Yang wanting to know how much did Blake knew.
"After we eat, I am starving."
"Amen to that." Said Yang as they finally got out of the infirmary not seeing the wicked smile the woman in white was giving them.
"Are you two trying to make holes to that sword?" asked Jaune who saw both Ren and Axl looking intensively as the Purgatory blade.
"Not letting it out of my side." Said Axl who was trying to think in the events of today and wondering why was Drake sleeping again and wondering even more why did her disobey X`s order, again!.
"Remembering hard times." Said Ren seeing the resemblance with the other killing aura blade, which made him remember his current wielder and the beat down he gave them.
"I don't see what it so important, I mean yes it looks awesome but what can exactly do?"
"Jaune," said both in a perfect synch getting the attention of the blonde, "Eat your food."
The blonde leader did as told seeing the looks they were giving him could kill if possible.
"In another subject,"
The two looked at Pyrrha who was trying to save her leader from death of killing looks, "What was that… device that your brother was using."
"Device?" asked Axl not recalling the biometal.
"She meant me bud."
Everyone, minus Nora who was happily eating Axl`s pancakes since he wasn't hungry, looked at team RWBY with their food at and and the biometal flying next to Blake.
"Did it just sound like me?"
"Oh! We another genius over here."
Axl twitched at the comment while Jaune snickered, "And acts like you as well."
"How do you shut it down?" asked Axl to Blake hoping she knew the answer.
"Vent only said 'shut down' and it did as told for a couple of minutes, after that we tried the same but nothing happened."
"Kitty, first of all, don't call me an it, I have feeling, and second, only my creator can do that."
"Fantastic, mind explaining what exactly are you then?" asked the orange head starting to regret the decision.
"Gladly, I am Biometal model A, based on Axl D Dragon soul and Aura to enhance the abilities of the user."
"That explain how he talks and acts like you, but how does that helps Vent`s, I mean no offense, but he doesn't seem like the fighter type." Exclaimed Weiss as she and the rest of her team took sit while Blake looked at Weiss.
"Weiss!"
"No it is ok, I am pretty sure you can tell him that and he wouldn't care either." Said Axl narrowing her eyes at Weiss, "But I can assure he can take you in a fight and beat the living crap out of you Weiss."
"Bring it." Said Weiss making the tension on the table rise.
"Why don't we calm down a little, we just came from a Grimm invasion if you don't remember." Said Pyrrha being the voice of reason successfully making both calm down yet one could still feel the tension in the air.
"My nephews… semblance is weapons." Said Axl as he started the explanation, "He can analyze a weapon completely by only touching it and also build everything that could be use as a weapon as an example, my guns are the perfect example for it."
"That still doe-" said Weiss who was interrupted by Axl who ignored her.
"He can also buff them by a 500% of their usual capabilities by a period of time only by touching them, that is why he has been one of the role keys in search and destroy missions."
Ruby raised her hand.
"Yes Ruby?"
"How does it work exactly, does the weapons change of shape?"
"No, the weapons stay the same, what does changes are… the stats of the weapons per say, take your scythe for example, if Vent used his semblance on it, the edge would become sharp enough to cut everything with ease, or you sniper rifle as another example, it would be enough to blow up the head off big nevermore."
Yang whistled at the explanation wondering how much destruction she could cause with her Ember Celica.
"But how does that explain how he is able to fight like that?"
Axl was about to answer, but it was Ren who answered for him finally understanding the behavior Vent showed today.
"He became a weapon, didn't he?" asked Ren not to Axl, but to model A.
"Indeed, he made me not only to have the abilities that Axl has, but to use them along with me as a weapon."
"That is why he didn't say anything the whole time, it was because he was giving his humanity by turning himself into a weapon." Said Ren thinking that the phrase 'weapons are only a tool' really fitted the moment.
"Not must of it, only enough to acknowledge between ally and enemy."
"But still… to go so far to only be able to fight." Said Ruby.
"When you life in the shadow of a family that is of warriors and hunters, the despair of not being able to follow those footsteps is just to big." Said Axl knowing at least a few could relate to those words.
"I am going to check on my brother and Vent, you should all should the take the rest of the day, you deserve it." Said Axl as stood up with Purgatory in hand and then began to walk away with model A next to him.
"Good look in getting in, that doctor nearly threw us out." Said Yang as she started to eat her food making Axl stop.
"What are you talking about? All the medical staff is on the city aiding the civilians that got hurt."
Everyone stopped at that and looked at him, "Couldn't she be possibly sent by the Maverick Hunters to look after your brother." Said Blake making a lot of sense.
"Yeah, that kinda makes me wonder where does the MH get that kind of people." Said Yang gaining a glare.
"What do you mean?"
"It is just that woman had a creepy smile," answered the blonde giving Axl a bad feeling of déjà vu.
"And with that hair especially, seriously, only creepy people use lavender hair as a hair co-" Weiss, who only wanted to give her opinion, stopped what she was saying as Axl ran out of the dinning hall as fast he could with the biometal running next to him.
"Wonder what was that about?" asked Ruby as she noticed how pale had he become while Blake and Ren had a bad feeling the moment they saw his face for some reason, one that they identified.
'Why the hell is she here!?' thought Axl as he ran at max speed with both guns out and Purgatory on his back as he reached the infirmary shutting the door down and aiming immediately to see only Drake and Vent sleeping.
"Check Vent." Muttered Axl as he pulled the guns away and went to check on Drake who was ok while model A did the same with A.
"Creator is alright, was it perhaps we mistook the person we thought it was."
Axl shook his head, "You may have my memories as well… but you lack sense… I can feel it, the air here seems unusual and with a sense of bloodlust that I would recognize anywhere… there is no doubt,"
"Lumine was here."
AN: You may be asking, what happened to the fight with Drake and Bass/Forte and the GV and Orchid, along with what exactly happened to Drake and why was he sleeping again, all that will be explain in the short chapter to come, why I am doing this? To build tension... wonder what Adam is doing.
