Then the following winter, there was a surprise:
"Uh, you know how I had been feeling weird recently and went to the doctor for a checkup today?" Tamora said to Felix, Ralph, and Vanellope in her and Felix's house.
The other three nodded.
"Well, i...it turns out I'm pregnant." Tamora admitted.
Ralph and Vanellope beamed at first and were about to congratulate Tamora and Felix, when Felix suddenly flipped over and landed on the ground with a flower in his hands. He had 'died' from the shock. Tamora and Vanellope looked worried but Ralph just put a hand over his face with amusement.
"Uh...is he going to be okay?" Vanellope asked awkwardly.
"Relax he'll be fine." Ralph smirked.
Sure enough Felix regenerated and started leaping all over.
"We're going to have a child!" He cheered. "I'm going to be a father!"
Ralph, Vanellope, and Tamora all smirked with amusement. Felix then went over to Tamora and gently pulled her down so that he could kiss her. She kissed him back.
As time passed Felix was still overjoyed. Tamora however seemed worried and it didn't take long for Felix to notice.
"What's wrong Tammy?" Felix asked one evening.
"I'm not sure if I could be a good mother." Tamora admitted. "Before Vanellope I never really had practice with kids, and I certainly never had practice with babies. Plus my tough attitude...our child might even become scared of me."
"Tammy, I'm sure that won't happen." Felix said gently. "And I know that you'll be a wonderful mother. After all you love our child right?"
"Of course I do." Tamora was surprised that Felix would ask something like that. "Even though he or she hasn't been born yet I do love our child."
"And that's all you really need to be a good mother." Felix smiled. "I mean sure you do need to know other things, but the most important thing is love. Besides, knowing me I'll probably be a pushover when our child will later want treats and such so your tougher attitude will come in handy."
Tamora smiled and kissed Felix.
Now game characters are able to have kids, though it had been in case two characters from the same game ever got married. Felix and Tamora were the first characters from different games to ever marry and have a child. Because of this, after the other game characters had found out, there was talk going around the arcade about which game the child was going to belong to or even if he or she was going to belong to a game at all.
Felix and Tamora didn't want to admit it, but the last one worried them a lot. What if their child didn't belong to either of their games? That would mean that their child wouldn't have a place where he or she could regenerate, meaning if he or she got killed or even mortally wounded...well, you can understand their worry. Not even Ralph or Vanellope could think of anything reassuring to say.
Another fact I should mention: game characters didn't go through the pregnancy in nine months or so. Instead the pregnancy for them was much shorter. This was partially because in most games aging was rapid (with it stopping at the age the character has to be for his or her game) and partially out of safety for the mother and child. I mean how would you react if you saw a game character in her third trimester with it not being part of the game? So yeah, it went by faster to decrease the risk of the game being unplugged, plus to prevent the mom from being out of the game for a long time.
Instead Tamora only needed to be out of her game for one day, when her pregnancy was most noticeable. This did put an Out of Order sign on her game since she was the one who started every gameplay, but it didn't matter since the child was due to be born later that night.
Also, one thing the game characters learned from Ralph's adventure in Sugar Rush is not to panic when getting an Out of Order sign on their game. One day of the sign meant nothing since Mr. Litwak was always willing to double-check on a game the next day before having it unplugged. Oddly enough he hadn't done that for Turbotime or Road Blasters, but maybe that one time caused him to be more cautious about unplugging other games. Maybe he regretted unplugging both those games so soon.
Anyway, that night, Tamora was being taken to the hospital in Fix-It-Felix Jr to wait for the baby. Each game had it's own hospital in it, but Tamora didn't want use the Hero's Duty one for an obvious reason: Cy-Bugs. Of course her being out of her game made Felix worry big time.
"Please, let me be with my wife!" Felix banged on the door to the maternity ward.
A doctor opened the door.
"I'm sorry sir but you'll have to wait out here." He said.
Ralph and Vanellope showed up around that point. The doctor shut the door.
"Please let me in please!" Felix pounded on the door.
"Felix easy!" Ralph pulled Felix away.
"But Ralph, what if something goes wrong?" Felix panicked. "Tammy's not in her game, if something happens to her...she won't be able to regenerate!"
"Felix your acting like that is exactly why the doctors won't let you into the room." Ralph pointed out.
"I don't care, what if they'll need my hammer?"
"Then that's when they'll let you in."
Felix groaned and paced all over, nearly tearing his hair out.
"Felix will you calm down?" Vanellope shook her head. "Tamora deals with Cy-Bugs every day, I'm sure she can handle this."
"But what if she can't?" Felix sat down and wrung his hat. "Oh Tammy..."
He couldn't stay seated for long, he had to get up and pace again.
"I have to be there...I have to..." He kept saying to himself worriedly; he then banged his head against a wall a couple times. "Tammy...Tammy..."
"Oh boy...if this keeps up Felix is going to need a doctor more than Tamora." Vanellope shook her head to Ralph.
"I'll be right back." Ralph left. "I think I know what can help him."
"Yeah, a sedative." Vanellope muttered.
Ralph soon came back with one of those machines doctors used on patients when performing an operation. He wheeled it over to Felix.
"Sorry about this brother." Ralph forced the mask on Felix's face.
Felix struggled a bit at first, and then started to become woozy.
"Twinkle twinkle little sta-" Felix fell asleep.
Ralph gently carried Felix to the chairs so that he could lie down on them.
"Ralph...where did you get that?" Vanellope asked.
"I told a doctor that a friend of mine was going to be a father and was worrying about his wife and child a bit too much." Ralph explained. "I then asked him if I could have some anesthesia to calm my friend down with before he hurt himself. The doctor agreed and brought this out for me."
"Why didn't you just ask for a sedative?" Vanellope wondered.
"I figured sleeping would be better for Felix than staying awake while still worrying." Ralph shrugged.
"Oh." Vanellope fell silent for a while before speaking again. "Uh Ralph, I've been wondering...you think we'll ever have a child?"
Ralph blushed but then smiled.
"I don't know...but I wouldn't mind having a child with you." He said.
"I wouldn't mind having your child either." Vanellope hugged Ralph's arm. "Just do me a favor: when I'm the one in labor please don't act like how Felix was acting earlier."
"Don't worry, I promise." Ralph smiled.
After what felt like a long time, Felix started to wake up.
"Ralph of all of the...forgive my potty mouth but that was very bugger of you!" Felix glared. "If you think I'm going to let this go-"
"Mr. Calhoun, sir?" The doctor suddenly opened the door to the maternity ward.
Felix adopted Tamora's last name as his own since his game didn't really have last names for the characters. Ralph adopted Vanellope's last name as his own for the same reason.
"What is it?" Felix sighed, annoyed.
"Your daughter is here." The doctor said. "Both she and your wife are fine."
Felix's annoyance melted away. Instead he got the 'new father' look on his face.
"A daughter...I have a daughter." Felix headed for the maternity ward.
Ralph and Vanellope smirked at each other. They had a feeling that Felix had forgotten all about the anesthesia.
"Tammy?" Felix went towards the bed hesitantly.
"Hello sweetie, feeling better?" Tamora smirked.
Obviously she had heard his panicking through the door.
"Oh yeah...yeah I'm fine." Felix didn't really register what Tamora had said. "So we have a daughter?"
"Uh-huh." Tamora revealed the bundle in her arms.
Felix looked at his daughter and smiled.
"She's beautiful." He almost whispered. "Look she has your nose."
"And your eyes." Tamora noticed, smiling.
Felix gazed at his daughter adoringly.
"So...what shall we name her?" He asked.
"I read about some names earlier today, before the arcade opened, and I was thinking...how about Luann? It's a combination of 'famous warrior' and 'grace'. That way it represents both of us."
"Perfect." Felix smiled.
The next day Tamora was of course back at work, saving her game from being unplugged. As for Luann she was kept in the penthouse during arcade hours where one of the very minor Nicelanders (meaning not a secondary character like Gene or Mary) took care of her. After arcade hours Felix and Tamora took care of Luann together. Felix also proved to be right: Tamora's love for their daughter allowed her to be a really good mother. She was even able to control her temper around her.
Due to the rapid aging of game characters Luann didn't stay a baby for long. Soon it was time to say her first word. Ralph and Vanellope were there with Felix and Tamora to witness it.
"Jimmy-jammy." Luann smiled.
The four of them were stunned. Normally the first word was either mom or dad or something similar.
"Huh, looks like Luann is taking after you." Tamora said to Felix.
"Yeah, I guess I'm going to get a partner later." Felix smiled. "Not during arcade hours of course...say, maybe we should create a fixing weapon of her own like my hammer. She does like using that plush one we got her."
"Maybe...but of what? Another hammer?" Ralph asked.
"Well nah, hammer's my thing and I'd still like Luann to be her own person...maybe a wrench?"
"That could work." Tamora shrugged. "But let's wait until she starts talking more."
Felix, Ralph, and Vanellope nodded.
After some time she did start talking more. It became clearer that she was taking after her father, at least in manner of speech. Personality wise she was a combination of both her parents: completely nice and kind, but also tough and willing to punch anyone who annoyed her, Plus she loved adventure, and because of the last detail she wasn't that happy in Fix-It-Felix Jr. She understood why she had to stay in her dad's game, except for visiting Sugar Rush of course, but she started wondering about her mom's game.
Then Ralph and Vanellope got good news: they were expecting a child. Ralph was very happy when Vanellope told him, and unlike Felix the shock didn't 'kill' him. He and Vanellope weren't the only ones happy either, Felix, Tamora, Brenda, and Candiel were also really happy.
Vanellope's pregnancy was smoother than Tamora's, mostly because Vanellope didn't have any worries at all. She was confident that she and Ralph would be good parents and she was sure nothing would go wrong. Even her cravings weren't that bad when compared to Tamora's:
The first day the cravings started Ralph and Vanellope were reading books on a couch in the palace. Vanellope then frowned slightly.
"Hey Ralph, I need a favor." She said, lowering her book.
"Don't tell me: a craving." Ralph guessed as he set his book down, having remembered the general timing from Tamora's pregnancy.
"Yup." Vanellope nodded. "Can you get a bunch of cherries for me?"
"Cherries?" Ralph was surprised, especially since Tamora's cravings had been a lot...stranger.
"Yeah. What you thought I was going to crave a gross combination?" Vanellope remembered Tamora's cravings too.
"That and I used to sneak cherries out of PacMan before my life improved." Ralph admitted.
"Huh, maybe our kid is taking after you." Vanellope guessed, stunned and interested by this fact.
"If he or she does I hope he or she has a better life than I did...before I met you I mean." Ralph sighed, remembering the first thirty years of his life.
"Oh he or she will...I'll make sure of it." Vanellope smiled determinedly.
Ralph, touched, smiled and kissed her. He then got up and traveled over to Jubileena's house to get the cherries. Jubileena's family owned a cherry and berry orchard.
Later, when Ralph and Vanellope's child was due, Vanellope was taken to the Fix-It-Felix Jr hospital like Tamora had been. However unlike Felix Ralph had kept his promise and was just calmly waiting on one of the chairs. It turns out it wasn't hard for him either. Felix and Tamora soon showed up, same with Brenda and Candiel.
"Ralph? Aren't you worried about Vanellope?" Felix was stunned, especially since Ralph used to worry about Vanellope more than him or Tamora had.
"A little, but I know she'll be fine. She can handle this." Ralph sighed. "You see she had to endure so much emotional pain back when Turbo had taken over, but despite the pain she stayed strong. And take it from me: physical pain is nothing when compared to emotional pain. So if she's strong enough to put up with being an outcast then she's strong enough to pull through no matter what happens."
"Yeah...you have a point." Felix had to admit.
"Oh she'll be fine, she's tough." Tamora said confidently.
Candiel however looked sad.
"Even though Vanellope and I are back together, and even though she has a wonderful new life now, I still feel bad about her past." He sighed. "Not guilty-bad, not anymore, just sympathy-bad. I had loads of times where I wish I could've broken out of that dungeon and searched for her, and I still have moments where I wish I could've protected her from the bullying." He then turned to Ralph. "I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't helped Vanellope return to her rightful place, Cy-Bugs or no Cy-Bugs. I'm still very grateful to you for that."
Ralph just smiled and rubbed the back of his head.
"What about you still being in that dungeon even after the game was reset?" Felix asked. "I admit I was in one of the prisons, and I didn't like it."
"Well, since I didn't know whether Vanellope was still alive or not I was just partially relieved." King Candiel shrugged. "Relieved that Turbo had been defeated that is. Mostly I was hoping that Vanellope was still alive and had been returned to her rightful place. I didn't even care whether I'd ever be free or not, despite missing her so much, as long as she had her life back and was happy again."
"And now she's more than happy again." Ralph smiled. "She has her father as well as her life back."
Candiel smiled back.
After some time...
"Mr. Von Schweetz?" The doctor said.
"Is my child here yet?" Ralph stood up.
"Uh-huh, your son." The doctor smiled. "Both he and your wife are fine."
Ralph beamed and headed for the maternity ward. When he went inside he saw Vanellope with a bundle.
"Hey Stinkbrain." Vanellope smiled. "Come meet your son."
Ralph went over, sat down (carefully), and smiled at his son. His son had his hair and Vanellope's eyes, only with less green.
"Have you thought of a name yet? I admit I've been stumped." Ralph asked.
"I was thinking of Rene...it means reborn and when you entered my life and helped me get my true role back it was like I had been reborn." Vanellope said.
"Er...no offense but isn't Rene kinda feminine?" Ralph pointed out.
"Oh yeah...didn't think of that." Vanellope frowned. "Haven't thought of a backup name though."
"How about combining Rene with some kind of candy name?" Ralph suggested.
"That works...or a car name." Vanellope chuckled. "We Sugar Rush characters have a wide knowledge of all types of candy and candy brands, plus car and car company names. Let's see...well there's the car company Renault, why not combine that with Rene?"
"Reneult Von Schweetz...I like it." Ralph smiled.
"Reneult it is." Vanellope agreed. "Do you want our parents to see him now? I'm actually feeling pretty good so I can handle them visiting."
"Sure, I'll go get them." Ralph stood up. "How about Felix and Tamora? I know Luann's a bit too young to see him yet."
"Yeah she has to wait until she's a teen or so before seeing newborns in hospitals..." Vanellope nodded. "But Felix and Tamora are fine."
"Okay."
Ralph invited his mom and Candiel in. Once they saw the baby they smiled.
"He's handsome, just like my son." Brenda smiled.
"Yup, a real chip off the ol' chocolate cookie." Candiel smiled. "What's his name?"
Ralph and Vanellope told them and explained how they came up with the name. Brenda and Candiel both liked it. Then Felix and Tamora were allowed in and they too admired Reneult.
The next day, after arcade hours, Luann was allowed to meet Reneult too. Fortunately, they liked each other right away.
