Hey there guys! I'm hoping that you will enjoy this story. I've been busy lately writing, but sometimes it's hard to get inspired. You know? Thanks for being understanding.
Christine's POV
The knight led me through the thick and damp forest for what felt like ages. My feet started to hurt because I wasn't in appropriate shoes or clothing for that matter. I was dressed for a ball that was supposed to be held that evening, before the attack.
"How much longer will it be?" I asked the mysterious Knight.
"It won't be too much longer now Princess." He replied as I tried to pick my feet up more, he glanced back at me,
"I'm sorry that you have to walk in those shoes. I was going to bring a horse for you, but I didn't know the attack would be so sudden. But at the camp, I have two stallions for us." he explained. I nodded, I appreciated that he was thinking about my feet.
After what seemed to be hours of constant tramping through the forest, the knight finally came to a halt.
"The camp is only a few more minutes, princess. Are you alright?" he asked me, I looked up at him and nodded.
"Yes." was the faint response. He stood there looking at me for a moment before in one quick motion he scooped me up into his arms.
"What are you doing?" I exclaimed, taken aback from his brash move. He started to walk, before chuckling.
"You look absolutely exhausted, despite you saying otherwise. Besides I know a damsel in distress when I see one." his cocky remark made me slightly uncomfortable. 'Does this man think he can possibly get favors from me?' I wondered as he walked with amazing speed and grace despite my weight and the bulky dress I was wearing.
The silence in the air was enough to drive anyone insane, but I didn't dare breath a word. Soon we came to an opening that was actually the shore of a stream, he placed me down back on my feet and led me over to a couple of tents.
"We will be spending the night here, but we must rise early in the morning to leave so we can clear out any evidence that we were here." the knight said very casually as he walked over to two horses that were tied to a tree. 'Those must be the stallions he mentioned earlier.' I thought as I walked over to the dim fire pit that had hot coals in it. Holding myself I gave myself a minute to grieve about the tragic events that had happened merely hours ago. 'Father...' I thought as I felt a tear fall from my eye and land on my shoe.
'Come on Christine, pull yourself together you're a princess. Act your part.' I chided myself as I quickly wiped my eyes and turned to face the knight who was staring at me from the horses. He had taken off his helmet so I saw his face for the first time, he had a perfectly chiseled jawline, high cheek bones, lacked facial hair, slender nose, jet black, and two different colored eyes?
His eye's startled me the most, his left eye was a light blue but his right eye was green. He noticed my intent gaze and quickly looked down as I averted my gaze.
"So, I guess you're not a fan of my eyes?" he asked as he walked over next to me.
"It's not that I don't like them, I've just never seen someone with two different colored eyes before." I responded, crossing my arms over myself to keep myself from shivering.
"There are spare clothes in your tent as well as proper shoes Princess." he addressed the tent to my right. I thanked him and entered the tent to find a sack that had warm and comfortable clothes, they were peasant clothes. I grabbed them and decided to change behind a tree.
As I took off my elaborate ball dress and folded it, I was about to throw the chemise over my head when a small movement caught my eye. I looked to my left and saw him looking at me. I felt my face burning red as I quickly covered myself,
"What are you doing?!" I yelled at him while throwing my ball gown at his face.
