Please! I beg of you, don't hate me for this chapter!

I have no idea where this came from!

Warning! This chapter has some slight sensitive material so, just a warning.

I only own my OC's: Patria and Pith!

The Lost One

Kairi opened her eyes and stretched. She smelled bacon and eggs cooking in the kitchen. Standing up, Kairi suddenly gagged and covered her mouth.

The woman could do nothing but run to the bathroom and throw up in the toilet. Sora came running around the corner and knelt by his wife. "Kairi…"

"I… I'm fine… I don't know what just happened."

"Would you like me to call in to work and stay home with you?" She shook her head. "You sure?"

She huffed. "I'm fine!"

"Ok…"

Sora reluctantly left for work. Kairi, who had thrown up twice more, already, was alone. Her husband may have had no idea what was happening, but Kairi had a pretty good idea.

She took a purple box out of the back of her bathroom drawer and opened it.

A ten minutes later, Kairi stared at the little object in her hand, a hand over her mouth and utter amazement in her eyes.

"Hey Kairi!" Sora came back into the house. "I know you said not to take off but, I called my boss and he said I could come home. I was worried about you… Kairi…?"

She turned around to him, tears filling her eyes, but with a bright smile on her face. "Oh Sora!"

"What? What happened?" Standing up and coming towards him, he could see that pregnancy tester in her hand. "No… you're kidding…"

She wrapped her arms around him. "Sora! I'm pregnant!"

Sora looked from the tester to his wife. "I'm gonna be a dad… I'm gonna be a dad!" Wrapping his arms around her waist, he lifted her up and spun her around. "We're gonna be parents!"

The two, in their joy, didn't notice the raven sitting by the open window, listening to their entire conversation.

Sora was just too excited about the news; he had always wanted kids and now, he was gonna be a dad.

"Is it too early to be picking out names?" Kairi asked him.

"Who cares! We're gonna be parents! That's all that matters right now!"

His wife smiled, "I should probably schedule a visit to the doctors so we can get more information."

"Good idea…"

Out of nowhere, a strong burst of wind shot through the room, knocking them into the wall. "What..?"

"Huh?" Kairi looked up. "Maleficent!" The witch stood before them with Pete and Diaval at her side.

"What are you doing here?"

The witch looked between the two of them. "Isn't this wonderful? A happy ending for the both of you... married and expecting your first child." The two gasped, she knew…

"What do you want?"

"Why nothing," her eyes swept over towards Kairi, "except to make you both suffer!"

Sora jumped to his feet and pulled Dawn's Might off its place on the wall. "I won't let that happen!" He charged only for Maleficent to summon a number of Neo Shadows; Diaval and Pete began fighting him as well.

He could do nothing as more Heartless appeared to block his path; Kairi got up to help her husband but, chains of darkness rose up from the ground and restrained her. "Let me go!"

Maleficent held up two fingers as a dark magic swirled around them. "You and your husband have done nothing but get in my way and now, it is my turn. You wish for children and a perfect life but, I will never allow that to happen." She closed her eyes, "The joy you want, you will never have. The child you carry will die and I curse your womb to be barren for all days!"

"NO!" Sora pushed through his opponents and ran towards his wife… but he was too late. Maleficent touched Kairi's abdomen and dark magic seeped into her body.

The witch, the Heartless, and her minions vanished into darkness. Sora cut the chains off his wife and caught her in his arms. "S…Sora…"

"Kairi… I'm sorry… I… I didn't protect you…" he began to sob, "I couldn't protect you, or the baby…" He dropped the sword in his hand. "I'm sorry…"

Kairi began to cry as well, hand on her abdomen. "Sora… don't blame yourself… there's still hope... maybe the spell failed…" Even she doubted her own words; she felt the dark magic enter her body and could almost feel the moment it took effect. "Maybe it failed…"

Sora hated explaining to Kairi's great uncle that he hadn't protected Kairi like he promised. Ansem the Wise listened to him and his response was, surprisingly calm but, all could see the pain and sorrow in his eyes.

"We can see if the baby survived…" he hugged his great niece, "I'm sorry this happened…"

Kairi silently followed him into the medical lab, hoping for the best but, preparing for the worst. Sora followed, tears falling from his eyes.

Ienzo scanned Kairi with a machine as Even looked at the screen. He turned, face solemn, "It seems that Maleficent's spell was successful… I'm so sorry…"

"No…" Sora fell to his knees; Maleficent won… all the joy in his heart vanished in one moment, leaving only despair.

Kairi wrapped her arms about herself and cried. Ansem hugged her close. "Not all is lost, my dear Kairi. There is still hope for you to have another child."

"No," the tears came stronger, "Sh… she cursed me… she cursed me so I could never have kids…"

"That didn't happen…"

The couple looked at Ienzo in confusion. "What?"

"That part failed," he came over to them. "Kairi is a Princess of Heart so, her body dispels most dark magic. Yes, the baby died, but her light kept the spell from harming her further. She can still have children…"

Sora's eyes widened as more tears came to his eyes. "There's still hope…"

"Still hope…"

(A year and a half later)

Sora held his wife's hand, wincing at every painful cry she gave; fear clouded his mind. Was he ready? Would he do well? His attention switched back to the moment as a different, a newer, cry entered the room.

The doctor, at the other end of the table, soothed, "There you go, Mrs. Kumo, almost done. Just keep pushing…"

Five minutes later, a second cry filled the air. Sora stared in awe at what the doctor and nurse held. The nurse came over to him and handed her bundle to him. "The girl came first." Sora's heart melted at the sight of his daughter.

"Here you are, Mrs. Kumo," the doctor handed the other baby to her. She gasped and began to tear up at the sight of her son.

The door to the hospital room opened and Ansem the Wise came inside. All the friends and close relative had already come and gone. "Hello…"

"Uncle Ansem!" Kairi gave him a bright smile, "So glad you could come!"

"I wouldn't miss this…" he came over to the couple, a smile spreading across his face. "This is truly a blessing for you. Not one, but two children."

The twins lay sleeping in their parent's arms; Sora now held the little boy, while Kairi held the girl. "Yea… a girl and a boy."

"May I?" Kairi handed the girl to her great uncle. "Is she the oldest?" The new mother nodded. "What is her name?"

"Her name is Patria Naminé Kumo and her brother is Pith Ventus Kumo." Sora nuzzled the baby in his arms.

Handing the child back to her mother, he looked to Sora. "I told you there was hope…"

"You were right, Ansem," Sora gave his trademark grin, "and I've never been so glad to be wrong."

Ansem looked down at the boy in Sora's arm, smiling at the little child. "You both deserve happiness, especially after all you went through."

"Thank you, Ansem."

The scientist nodded and turned to leave; he stopped in the doorway. "Sora, since you are now a part of our family, you may call me Uncle Ansem if you wish."

"Ok, Uncle Ansem…"

*ducks and hides*

I have absolutely no idea where this came from!
