Chapter 13! Yay :)

Chapter 13

*Endymion's Office*

"Yes Father, I know," replied Endymion blankly, his blue eyes filled with boredom as he tapped his long slender fingers on his large mahogany desk in a very dull and repetitive manner. His father had spent the past hour lecturing him about his "reckless" behavior. He was being subject to constant lectures for rescuing Serena and risking his life and the future of the Earth..blah blah blah!

Sighing, Endymion stood up and went over to the window while his father's voice droned on and on in the background. A small smile danced upon his lips as he noticed Serena sitting on the freshly cut grass beside a large cherry blossom tree. She seemed to be completely enthralled in whatever she was reading, 'I hope she's doing her school work and not reading those comics Mina keeps lending her' thought Endymion amused.

King Elysion let out a frustrated wail and stalked over to the window to see what had distracted Endymion from their conversation. He rolled his eyes dramatically when he saw Serena sitting by a tree. He was finally "allowed" by his son to meet Serena a few days ago, for Endymion had been keeping a fiercely protective eye over her the past couple of days. She seemed very sweet and caring, qualities he never expected Endymion to fall for. She reminded him of his own wife, Gaia, although some might dispute that given his wife's reputation for being very strict and cold at times. But he knew her better than most, and he knew deep down that she was a very sensitive and caring woman, one he loved spending his time with.

'I miss her so much…wait am I supposed to wait another year to get laid?!' thought King Elysion suddenly. He thought about waking her up but he wasn't sure she would approve of Endymion's infatuation with a commoner such as Serena. Gaia herself had been born into one of the richest, most powerful families in Crystal Tokyo.

Feeling mischievous, King Elysion slapped Endymion on his back playfully, causing him to pitch forward and smack his head into the glass pane of the large window breaking it.

Serena looked up from her book quickly and gasped in horror when she saw Endymion's head protruding from a broken window as glass tumbled frantically onto the ground beneath. 'Omg what the hell is he doing?!' she thought concerned.

Endymion just gave her an embarrassed smile, waving at her as he yelled, "I'm alright, just stuck in here with an escaped mental patient!"

Serena giggled and shook her head, deciding it was safe to return to her book. 'Must be his father again, he's such a strange man, nice but very very strange' thought Serena smiling widely.

Endymion pulled his head back through the now broken window pane and glared at his father who whistled innocently while walking away. 'This old man is going to be the death of me I swear!' thought Endymion wiping his forehead with the palm of his hand.

"What's your problem?!" exclaimed Endymion following his father down the seemingly endless carpet lined hallway.

King Elysion just laughed and put his hand around Endymion's shoulder and pulled him close, "I couldn't resist Endy! You are simply too much fun to pick on."

"Ugh! Maybe you should go back to sleep father. You look like you could use some rest," said Endymion hopefully.

"Ohh I see, trying to get rid of your old man so you can have that sweet girl all to yourself eh?!" joked King Elysion, his eyes filled with mirth, "you're just afraid of a little competition!"

Endymion just rolled his eyes, "Eww, you're the oldest fossil on Earth, Serena's not going to fall for your horrible flirting. I'm surprised Mother did…"

King Elysion came to a complete stop and stared at Endymion like he had grown two heads, "How dare you?! I'm in my prime! I can get any woman I want, whenever I want, wherever I want!"

"Whatever, I have duties to attend to," replied Endymion walking away. 'Ha! That should keep him busy for awhile' thought Endymion smiling wickedly.

King Elysion stood in the now empty hallway pouting like a little child, his nose turned up and his bottom lip thrust out. 'I'll show him!' he thought as he stomped towards his chambers, a plan formulating in his devious mind.

A Few Hours Later…

*Palace Kitchen*

"Lita, you don't have to stay, I will be fine," said Luna as Lita tried to loosen the straps of her frilly orange apron. Her stomach was starting to show, and she was having a harder time in general running around as much in the kitchen each day. Fortunately, Lita was around to help and boy did she. Lita would be there bright and early in the mornings ready to help her prepare breakfast as well as prep for lunch. Then she spent most of the afternoons training with Nephrite.

Lita seemed to possess a special skill in combat, and General Nephrite seemed to take pleasure in this fact. For he spent many hours with her, teaching her how to push herself to the limit. A lot of times, other soldiers would come to watch the pair engage in their training, bets would be made and lost on the two. Whatever the case, they never let any competition foil their obvious blooming relationship, well obvious to Luna anyways. She knew about these things after all, she was in no way as keen as Mina in the romance department but having been with Artemis this long, she knew a thing or two about relationships.

Just thinking of Mina made Luna miss her, she had grown so close to the girls the last couple of weeks with everything going on around the palace. But Mina and General Kunzite were away in Venus, the cassanova had whisked her away to his homeland with the promise of romance and adventure. Luna hoped the pair wouldn't get into too much trouble, for they both were equally mischievous at times.

Ami and General Zoisite were also away, though their adventure was more of an academic one. They were studying the Crugis at the Royal Laboaratory on the Eastern Peninsular of Mercury, hoping to find something that would help in the war. It seemed Ami was hardly on earth these days, she seemed to not only have fallen in love with Mercury but also with Zoisite who was always fumbling and sheepish when she was around him.

"Luna you need to relax, you have a baby inside you for god's sake! Just sit and rest, the doctor said that you need to reduce your stress remember?" said Lita shooing Luna away from the hot stove.

Luna grumbled and plopped down on a stool. She dragged a large red jar close and began munching on the warm and gooey chunky mocha bars she had made this morning, "Fine! But add just a pinch of salt to the potato leek soup! Last time it was too salty, some of the soldiers complained. And make sure the crust on the peach pies in the oven doesn't get burnt, it has to be light and flaky! Its one of King Elysion favorites!"

Lita just rolled her eyes as Luna stuffed her face, Luna loved giving her a hard time about the food but she knew she appreciated the help. Plus Lita was a great cook and the soldiers always snuck her compliments when she was on the training grounds with Nephrite. They didn't want to make Luna feel bad because she was always extra testy these days. Some of them had gone as far as to lie about Lita's cooking to Luna to make her feel better as well as to score a few extra pieces of her decadent chocolate fudge cake, which Luna insisted was her most secret recipe and no one was getting access to it anytime soon. Artemis had already whispered to Lita about the contents of the so called secret recipe, it was store bought most of the time, for those rare days that Luna didn't feel like baking in the hot summer.

The truth was that Lita enjoyed spending time with Luna, she looked forward to it everyday. That and flirting with Nephrite. 'I can't remember the last time me and the girls had a sleepover, its been forever! I miss those!' thought Lita tasting the soup. Serena rarely stopped by in the kitchen these days, she was hard to track down, no doubt spending lots of time with the handsome King Endymion who seemed smitten with her. Raye was more occupied than ever with her duties at the temple, she had no time for anyone. With the war surging on, more and more people were flocking to the temples asking for blessings so that their loved ones might return home safe. And with Mina and Ami away on their little adventures, Lita was glad to have Luna's company.

*King Elysion's Chambers*

"Oh yeah this will do just fine," said King Elysion to himself as he admired his ridiculously gorgeous reflection in the mirror or so he thought. 'Let's see the ladies resist this!'

*Palace Grounds*

"I wonder what King Elysion wants," muttered Artemis adjusting the sleeves of the light blue button up shirt he wore. King Elysion had sent a message to him and Andrew, demanding that they not only meet with him but also dress as sexy as possible. So here he was, dressed in one of his finest shirts, his best pair of black slacks and his favorite shiny cobalt shoes. His hair was combed neatly and pulled back into a long ponytail. Artemis hadn't told Luna about the King's message, she was already going nuts all the time because of her hormones. Instead, he snuck out and left her a message saying that he was helping Andrew with some of his work.

Andrew ran a hand through his messy blonde hair and shrugged as he sat on a nearby bench, "I dunno, but I have to admit, I am very scared. This won't be good, he's up to something."

"That's your idea of a sexy outfit Andrew?" asked Artemis teasingly, "Since when are t-shirts that say '2 For 1 Ramen Special' sexy?"

"Listen, I'm still recovering here! There's no way I'm getting all dressed up to be pulled into some crazy scheme by King Elysion! You know how he is!" replied Andrew as he ran his hand up and down the length of his black jeans trying to get the tiny specks of white lint off, "Besides, Reika says I look really cute in this, she got me this t-shirt on our fifth date."

"Hold onto her, don't ever let her go," laughed Artemis, "You two were made for each other!"

Andrew crossed his arms to his chest and pouted, "What's that supposed to mean?!"

Before Artemis could reply, King Elysion appeared right before their eyes causing their jaws to drop simultaneously. 'What the hell!' they both thought at the same time. Andrew and Artemis exchanged nervous glances, both of them unable to speak.

"What do you guys think?" asked King Elysion grinning. He did a little twirl and waited for their response. No one spoke for a few minutes causing King Elysion to grow impatient. He put his hands on his hips and tapped his foot in annoyance.

Andrew let out a loud cough and tried to come up with the right words to express what he was seeing, "Ummm…what? why? what did you do to yourself King Elysion?!"

King Elysion arched an eyebrow in amusement, "Ok first of all from now on, call me Ely. I'm not the king anymore, Endy is. And what do you mean? Don't I look good?"

"Ely?" muttered Artemis weakly as he looked at 'Ely' from top to bottom. 'I must be having a nightmare or something. Maybe Luna was right, I shouldn't have devoured that extra stack of pancakes this morning.' thought Artemis faintly.

"Ugh you guys wouldn't know good style if it hit you in the faces! I saw this look in one of those fashion magazines!" laughed Ely, putting his hands around their shoulders, "Let's go out and have a good time, like single men!"

"Style…" muttered Artemis, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he examined the sight before him.

"Single men?! We're all married!" protested Andrew as Ely dragged him along whistling merrily.

*Lion's Den*

A tall sexy brunette wearing a tiny white top that barely clung to her large breasts and a short red mini skirt that ended not far from her shapely thighs sat on the lap of a neon blue haired young man. She ran her fingers along his tight black muscle shirt smiling seductively.

"Oh Ely, you're so funny!" whispered the brunette in the young man's ear.

Ely just gave her a charming smile as ran his hands up and down her smooth long leg, "I love a sexy woman with a good sense of humor."

The brunette adjusted herself so that she could press her body closer to his, "I get off in a few minutes baby. You want to have some fun?"

"Sure, you got some friends to bring along, Natsumi? I got a few friends looking to have a good time too," replied Ely running a hand along the side of her breast.

"The more the merrier I always say," laughed Natsumi as she reluctantly got of his lap, "I'll meet you out front in ten minutes."

Ely smiled triumphantly as he pulled out his wallet and threw some cash down on the small glass table in front of him. He went to the bar and bought a few bottles of liquor and hurried out of the club to the party bus he had hired.

"Hey guys! I got us some entertainment!" yelled Ely excitedly as he went into the bus.

*Palace Library*

Serena gazed at the photo in her hand, tears spilling silently down her face and onto it. 'I miss you so much Mom and Dad' she thought as she wiped her tears away with the back of her hand. She tucked the photo into the book she had been reading earlier and ventured deeper into the massive library.

In a far dark corner, down some lone dark hallway, she took a seat and laid her head down onto the desk in front of her. She hid here everyday, trying to comprehend what had happened in Largos while at the same time sorting out her feelings for Endymion. He made strong bold advances on her these days, and she wasn't sure she was ready for all that. She loved him, she knew that but whether she was ready to give herself to him completely was another matter. Serena was still just a naive teenager at the end of the day, he on the other hand was much more sure of himself.

Endymion was only the half of her problems, she couldn't stop thinking about what Nuumite was trying to tell them in Largos that day. She had to know what he needed to tell, why he even seemed to know her. Something about the whole situation didn't add up and it was driving Serena crazy not having any answers.

Sighing Serena shook these thoughts from her head and tried to focus on taking a quick nap before dinner.

As she felt herself drifting off, she heard a faint indistinct murmur around her that began to increase in volume as the seconds went by. Lifting her head off the table, she looked down the hallway in front of her but saw no one. Closing her eyes again, she laid her head back down on the table and tried to go to sleep.

'Serena..Serena…' came the murmur, this time louder and much clearer as it called her name over and over again. Serena tensed as she listened quietly, very afraid of what was happening. The voice was coming from inside her head, it sounded familiar but she couldn't pin point who it was exactly.

'Serena…meet me please' spoke the voice sounding rushed and nervous.

Serena closed her eyes tightly and tried to figure out what to do. She tried to answer the voice but found herself unable to let the words ring out in her own mind.

The voice began to whisper the same thing over and over, 'Orphanage tonight…Orphanage tonight…Orphanage tonight…'

Serena tried to ask the voice who it was and what it wanted but she couldn't. It was too late anyways, the voice was gone and she was once again alone in the library.

"I'll go to the Orphanage tonight…I need answers." said Serena quietly in the empty library.
