Hey there sorry I haven't uploaded lately I took a small break to look at other stories and relax. I'm posting the tenth chapter soon after this one. So happy reading and find out what Ceasar's hiding!
:~)
Jewels POV: I hurriedly walked off stage and into the backstage area. I asked one of the peacekeepers if they could show me Ceasar's dressing room. The guy looked at me weirdly and shrugged. I did hear him say though " Probably likes the older types..." Ewwww! That's gross! Ceasar's like 40+ years older than me. Besides that he's not even the real Ceasar! I mean nobody can be that old, even the capitol couldn't make you immortal. Could they?Worried about what the possibilities were I didn't notice that we had stopped in front a a door with the name CEASAR FLICKERMAN on it. "Thanks." The peacekeeper nodded and left. Anxiously I reached up and knocked on the door. No one answered, so I opened it up a crack. I peeked through and saw nobody. I guess he's not here yet. I whipped around hearing footsteps coming down the hall. Crap! I snuck inside the romm and quietly closed the door. Where to hide, where to hide?! Bingo! I spotted a closet in the corner of the dressing room and ran to it. Just as I closed the closet door the other door opened. I heard footsteps as Ceasar walked across the floor. I could hear him walking towards the closet and stand right in front of it.
Trying to not breath I waited to see what he was going to do. His footsteps were heard again as he walked away. Letting out a silent breath of relief, I looked through the crack in the closet to see what he was doing. Oh my god! He is wearing a mask. I started to watch him grab the side of the mask with his fingers and then saw who he really was...
HGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHG
I suddenly realised what was surrounding me. Scarves. Fluffy, feathery, itchy scarves. Oh no. I could feel myself wanting to sneeze. Oh please don't! I stopped myself in time by pinching my nose, but unfortuneatly in the process of swinging my arms I lost my balance and crashed through the closet door. *CRASH!* Ceasar or whoever he is alarmingly looked at me. Crap. I'm caught. If this were a spy movie I would definetly be the one they send on coffee runs instead of the mission. We continued to stare at each other in silence. That was until he started laughing. He just laughed and laughed and I looked at him like he was a nut. I kind of think he is one.
I got very afraid at that moment because he could do anything. Call the peacekeepers, blackmail me, kill me right now... Instead he just stopped laughing and wiped a tear away. "Well are you going to tell me why you are hear?" he asked. " If your going to kill me then no." "Ha, ha! Why would I kill you?" " Because I just found out you're not who you say you are." "Dosen't mean I have to kill you." I didn't do anything except give him a questioning look. He fully took off his mask. Underneath was a flawless, makeupless, young face. I opened my mouth in shock. There standing in front of me was President Clara's son. He was supposed to have died in a tragic accident two years ago. "What? How..." I just started to mumble incoherent words. "As you see I'm not dead, and I'm not Ceasar Flickerman. Now he is long dead." "President Thornsby." I quickly bowed my respects. Everyone in the districts liked Thornsby. He was kind, gentle, and made it clear he hated the Hunger Games. That's why everyone knew the "accident" was made by his mother so when he became president he couldn't stop the games.
" Please stand up." I quickly looked up at him. He looked at me with gentle eyes. "I'm sorry about having scared you, ut can you promise me you won't tell my secret." "Of course I wouldn't." "Thank you." "May I ask why the charade?" " Well it's kind of complicated... but I trust you so here goes." I sat down and listened to every word Thornsby told me. "So you're telling me that you're hiding yourselff and are planning a scheme to get C. Snow out of business?" "Exactly. If all goes well while you're in the arena we'll have my mother out of power and you going home." " I hope everything goes well then. It will mean so much to all of Panem. Especially the districts." " Of course don't worry Jewels you'll be fine." We talked for a short time before I had to get back to the penthouse. All the way back I couldn't believe it was true.
As I walked into the penthouse, I knew something was wrong. The air was too heavy, and the silence too loud. I slowly, cautiously walked into the living room where everyone was sitting. Nobody even turned when I came in, they were all staring at something. I stood behind the sofa and looked at the t.v screen. They were watching the interviews. We watched in silence until ten. The t.v. shut off and Morgan announced," Off to bed you need a lot of sleep." I went off to bed but two hours later I still couldn't sleep. I walked back into the living room and set my blanket ont the floor. Five minutes later Alex came in and layed next to me. Then Morgan came out. Soon Jeff followed. That's how I fell asleep with my loved ones all around me. What else would you expet before a funeral?
