"Quiet please! The judges have made their decision!" The rowdy crowd instantly became hushed, eager to hear the winning band. "It seems this year, the rules have changed!" The crowd started murmuring, saying things like "How have the rules changed?" or "Was there a tie?"
"Will Perpetual Souls and Death Acceptance please come up on stage?" Both groups came up on stage and looked at the emcee. The emcee looked at both bands and smiled. "We have this year's winners!" Maka's group squealed and jumped up and down while Kid's group yelled and high fived each other.
"Do you two bands have another song that you would like to perform before your big day tomorrow?" Kid nodded quickly, while Maka gave a thumbs up. "Great! First up will be Death Acceptance!"
Kid and them quickly set up for this song, and started when Kid nodded at Soul. Kid and Soul had a special mic for this song.
Burning Down the House (Kid, Kid and Soul, Soul)
Watch out;
You might get what you're after.
Cool babies;
Strange but not a stranger.
I'm-an-or-din-a-ry-guy.
Burning down the house.
Hold tight;
Wait till the party's over.
Hold tight;
We're in for nasty weather.
There-has-got-to-be-a-way.
Burning down the house. [Kid jumped off stage, and started jumping up and down, causing the crowd to also.]
Here's your ticket, pack your bag:
Time for jumpin' overboard.
Transportation is here.
Close enough but not too far,
Maybe you know where you are.
Fightin' fire with fire.
[Kid started making his way into the center of the crowd.]
All wet;
Hey you might need a raincoat.
Shakedown;
Dreams walking in broad daylight.
Three-hun-dred-six-ty-five-de-grees.
Burning down the house. [Kid started jumping again, and Soul, Crona, and Black*Star, along with the crowd jumped with him.]
It was once upon a place,
Sometimes I listen to myself.
Gonna come in first place.
People on their way to work
Say baby what did you expect?
Gonna burst into flame.
[Kid motioned for everyone to yell the next line with him, which they did.]
Burning down the house.
My house;
Is out of the ordinary.
That's right;
Don't want to hurt nobody.
Some-things-sure-can-knock-me-off-my-feet.
Burning down the house. [Everyone yelled the line in unison.]
No visible means of support and you have not seen nothin' yet.
Everything's stuck together.
I don't know what you expect stare into the TV set.
Fighting fire with fire.
Fighting fire with fire (x4) [Kid jumped back on stage.]
Burning down the house!
The crowd went crazy, and started chanting their names. Kid bowed, as did the rest of them. The emcee came back on stage as Death Acceptance packed up and left. "Let's give it up for Death Acceptance!" The crowd cheered loudly.
"And now, we have Perpetual Souls!" The crowd cheered again as Maka made her way to the center of the stage. Maka made a hand signal and they started.
Renegade (Maka, Maka and Liz, Liz, Patty)
And the grass wasn't green enough here
After watering it with my tears
I'm not sure where you went
Now we are just past tense
And the snakes, they are slithering in
Chasing me to my end
I can't say where that is
I'm running again
And when I get there
It won't be far enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood
If ever I get there
It won't be fast enough
I'm a renegade
I always was [Maka crouched down.]
And, the spark never lit up a fire
Though I tried and tried and tried
The wind came through your lungs
A hurricane from your tongue [Maka stood up and put a finger to her lips.]
And, I'll keep your secrets with me
Right behind my teeth
Your anger, your anchor
But I'll sail much further on, ah, on [The four girls jumped up and down.]
And when I get there
It won't be far enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood
If ever I get there
It won't be fast enough
I'm a renegade
I always was [Maka jumped off the stage and started running from place to place, pausing to sing. Some of the crowd ran with her.]
I'll keep running
I'll keep running again, keep running
I'll keep running
Keep running, running, running
I'll keep running
I'll keep running again, keep running
I'll keep running
Keep running, running, running
I'll keep running
I'll keep running again, keep running
I'll keep running [Maka slid across the stage and crouched down again.]
And, when I get there
It won't be far enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood
If ever I get there
It won't be fast enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood
I'm a renegade
I always was
Maka stood up and smiled at the crowd. She pulled her friends up to center stage with her, and they all bowed. The crowd went bananas. The emcee came up on stage, and gestured for Death Acceptance to come back on stage. When they did, the crowd was deafening. Both bands bowed.
"Thank you guys for coming out to the annual music festival! Hopefully we'll see you all here next year to see what sort of new talent we have!" The crowd was cheering, and then people started to leave. Death Acceptance and Perpetual Souls started to walk off stage.
"Man, that was exciting!" Liz said, smiling like a child as they made their way backstage. Maka nodded, but kept glancing at the raven haired man with the three white stripes. He kept glancing at her too, but they couldn't place each other's faces.
"Ah, there you all are!" said a male voice. They all looked at the man with screw in his head, but decided not to ask about it.
"Franken Stein, how many times have I told you not to walk so fast?!" said a stern female voice. "Oh, here you are!" The group looked at the couple before them: Franken Stein and Marie Mjolnir.
"So, are you ready to start your big, yearlong tour?" Maka and Kid glanced at each other again, going unnoticed to everyone but Marie. "Oh, I see what's going on here." She said, smiling.
"What's going on?" Maka asked, tilting her head.
"You two recognize each other from your duet performance in the 'Finish the Song' booth!" Marie said, clapping excitedly.
Maka and Kid whirled to each other, gold meeting green.
"YOU!" they shouted, simultaneously. Everyone laughed at their childish antics.
"Well, come guys. It'd be wise to choose who's rooming with who now before we get in the tour bus." Stein said, taking a drag from his cig.
"Wait, we're leaving now?!"
