"I'm so sorry...

Mai wiped her eyes.

Mai's heart twisted painfully in her chest. She turned her head slightly, to hide the tears peaking at the corners of her eyes. "Why are you sorry? I know this is something important to you. So please... don't apologize"

"I am sorry for asking something like this of you... but come with me" Naru pleaded. Mai looked at him in surprise. "I need you at my side... I am sure you know, even if I never said it. But I do love you Mai"

Naru's gaze didn't leave the road, but his eyes were clear. There was no confusion or doubt. There was fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of being apart from her...

Mai used the heel of her hand, to wipe the tears in her eyes. She didn't know what to think. Sure she had guessed he had feelings for her. Why else would he have ask her to be with him... but love... She had never considered he felt that strongly for her. She was constantly scared that he one day realise how plain she was. How simple minded she was. But he loved her? Those words filled his heart with happiness.

"I-I love you too..." Mai confessed weakly. "I always have Naru"

"So will you go with me?" Naru asked again, his voice losing some of that confidence. Isn't this the part where the two are split apart? He had seen too many romance films (because of Mai), to know that this was the part that when wrong. Where the 'Summer dreams, where ripped at the seems?', or then Romeo and Juliet die... it only worked well in the end, in fairy tales...

"I will go with you Naru..." Mai muttered weakly, blushing brightly. She turned to her boyfriend of a year, and the sweetest smile spread across her lips. "I would go anywhere with you Naru" And then the tears she had been holding, rolled down her cheek, but her smile stayed. "I thought you were going to leave without me... I was so scared Naru"

"I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to scare you" Naru apologised, pulling up by the lake. "I have just been a little distracted lately"

"Well that's understandable..." Mai shrugged, before leaning to Naru's side, and kissing his cheek. "We can get through this together... Always...

When you love someone, set them free... And if they love you, they will take you with them...
