I feel really bad about sort of abandoning this story. I have gotten quite a few messages to update and I finally decided to update.

I just stopped updating this one because I felt like no one liked this story and I personally thought that it wasn't my best. Plus, I had just started a Rosex11 fic and it is currently my most popular story.

Ever.

So thank you to all those who still stuck with me while I was gone, and without further ado, I present to you the next chapter of "A Life Together."

Chapter 14

Rose Tyler- 3rd person

Rose put her face in her hands. Jack, Jack Harkness, her best friend and the man who saved her life on so many occasions, was dead.

Suddenly there was a gasp, and then a scream. Rose slowly looked up and saw Jack, sitting up, and gripping Martha's shoulders.

"Oh, so much for me!" Martha yelled, staring at the Doctor, who remained expressionless.

Jack and Martha locked eyes. "Captain Jack Harkness." He said seductively, almost making Rose smile. "And you are?"

Martha smiled. "Martha Jones."

Jack flashed her a flirtatious smile. "Nice to meet you Martha Jones."

The Doctor rolled his eyes, sighing in annoyance. "Oh don't start."

Rose could've slapped him again.

"I was only saying hello!" Jack countered.

Martha smiled and faced the Doctor. "I don't mind." Martha helped Jack up.

Rose stood out of Jack's view as he faced the Doctor. "Doctor." Jack said.

The Doctor met his gaze. "Captain."

"Good to see you." Jack said, not breaking eye contact with the Doctor.

"And you. Same as ever." The Doctor said, finally showing a smile on his used-to-be expressionless face. "Although, have you had work done?"

Rose mentally facepalmed. The Doctor could be really ignorant sometimes. "You can talk!" Jack said, voicing Rose's thoughts.

The Doctor looked very confused for a few seconds before his mouth dropped open. "Oh! The face! Regeneration!" The Doctor said, finally realizing the obvious. "How did you know it was me?"

Jack rolled his eyes. "Well, the police box kind of gives it away." Jack's eyes darkened suddenly. "I've been following you for a long time. You abandoned me."

The Doctor went back to expressionless. "Did I? Busy life. Moving on."

Oh yes, Rose could really slap him.

Rose looked at Jack, who still hadn't noticed. She was thinking of trying to get Jack's attention, but then decided that it would be better to wait for him to notice her.

"Just got to ask. The Battle of Canary Wharf." Jack said sadly. Rose was about to intervene, but Jack started talking again. "I saw the list of the dead. It said Rose Tyler."

"Oh no! Sorry, she's alive!" The Doctor shoved Rose forward. "She's right here!"

Jack's face broke out into a huge grin. "Rosie!" He said, sweeping her up into a hug.

"Jack, it's so great to see you!" She said happily, hugging him back.

Rose pulled away and smiled, before turning to face the Doctor. She smiled at him and, without breaking her grin, slapped him as hard as he could. "Ow!" The Doctor yelled, rubbing his face.

"That was for leaving Jack and being extremely rude." Rose said, still smiling. Jack laughed as the Doctor frowned and flashed Rose big puppy-dog eyes.

"Forgive me?" He asked.

Rose hugged him. "Course I do." She mumbled into his chest.

They started walking, just chatting while the TARDIS recharged enough to get them out of there. "o there I was, stranded in the year two hundred one hundred, ankle deep in Dalek dust, and he goes off without me. But I had this" Jack was saying to Martha, showing off his vortex manipulator.

Rose punched the Doctor in the shoulder, not hard, but hard enough. "Sorry?" He said.

Rose rolled her eyes and backed up to stand next to Jack, not saying anything.

"I used to be a time agent." Jack said, slightly bragging. "It's called a vortex manipulator. He's not the only one who can time travel." Jack nodded to the Doctor.

The Doctor rolled his eyes. "Oh, excuse me, but that is not time travel." He said defensively, causing Rose to roll her eyes once again.

"It's like… I've got a sports car and you've got a space hopper." The Doctor continued. Rose kicked his shin.

"Oh." Martha said, laughing. "Boys and their toys."

Rose laughed, giving Martha a high-five.

"All right, so I bounced. I thought 21st century, the best place to find the Doctor, except that I got it a little wrong." Jack said. "Arrived in 1869, this thing burnt out, so it was useless." He tapped his vortex manipulator.

The Doctor raised his eyebrows. "Told you."

"I had to live through the entire twentieth century waiting for a version of you that would coincide with me." Jack said, addressing the Doctor.

"But that makes you more than one-hundred year old!" Martha said, and Rose gasped a bit.

"And looking good." Jack said, smiling.

"Bad Wolf." Rose whispered, and Jack looked at her. "That was me, wasn't it?"

Jack put an arm around her. "I don't blame you. It's saved my life multiple times."

Rose smiled sadly. "At least you weren't the only one."

"You too?" Jack asked, giving her a sad look.

"It's not the same; I've got two hearts now. But yeah, me too." Rose said.

Jack raised his eyebrows. "Oh, so now the Doctor isn't the only Time Lord left." Jack flashed the Doctor a smile. "Anything going on between you two I should know about?"

The Doctor pulled Rose forward and put his arms around her. "Nothing that isn't completely obvious."

Rose kissed the Doctor's cheek and Jack smiled. Sometimes the Doctor could be a real idiot, but Rose could never stop loving him. The Doctor smiled down at her and planted a kiss on the top of her head.

Martha glanced at the Doctor. "But the thing is" she said, changing the subject "how come you left him behind?"

Rose sighed as the Doctor said "I was busy."

"You had already saved my life." Rose whispered so only the Doctor could hear. "Why couldn't you have saved Jack too?"

"But is that what happens? You just leave us behind one day?" Martha asked. Rose was shaking her head and mouth 'no' but Martha didn't seem to see her.

"Not if you're blonde." Jack said, and Rose playfully punched him in the shoulder. Jack laughed.

"Oh of course! Rose and the Doctor forever!" Martha said jokingly and Rose smiled, hoping that that was true.

"You two! We're at the end of the universe!" The Doctor said, whipping around to face them. 'Literally the edge of everything! And you're busy… blogging!"

Rose couldn't help laughing at the Doctor's defensiveness. She really loved him, and truly hoped that they had a future together.
