Chapter 9
EMILY'S POV
Alison's doctors appointment had gone fairly well today, it was about 15 minutes until the big dinner started. "Cole I can't believe you dropped it!" I heard Hunter yell. I rolled my eyes, Cole was always clumsy.
"Sorry mate! Lets just go get a new one!" Cole yelled at Hunter. I didn't hear Hunter say anything so he must have done one of his signature shrugs. I didn't even have to ask where they were going before they left out of the house quickly. I sat back down on the couch after finishing the table setting. Maya plopped down right next to me. Her brown hair and brown eyes seemed lighter than they had the last time I saw her.
"Meeting at eight after the dinner." She said to me. I nodded. "You nervous about anything?" I smiled, she knew me well. Suddenly Tiggy made an abrupt exit out the door as well.
"Where's he going?" I asked her, ignoring the question she had asked about me being nervous. She just shrugged, as if to say 'your guess is as good as mine'.
"I'd like to really talk to you after dinner." She stated. I just nodded.
Hanna's POV
Spencer and I were eavesdropping on Maya and Emily's conversation, after deciding we had heard enough we finally headed back into the kitchen. "Shit, what do you think their gonna talk about?" I asked Spencer.
"Maybe they're gonna talk about their relationship." Spencer suggested.
"What fucking relationship, that ended a year ago Spence! Emily is happy with Alison happy now, I'm not gonna have Maya fucking that up for Emily now!" I yelled. Spencer cocked her head at me.
"Are you jealous that Maya is getting Em's attention instead of you?" Spencer asked with a smirk and an amused look on her face.
"No! Jealous is when you want something thats not yous, territorial is protecting what's already yours. And Emily is my best friend!" I yelled a little too loudly. Spencer laughed. The doorbell rang, Spencer went to go get it. Tonight was going to be...interesting.
30 Minutes Later…
ALISON'S POV
"I was super into Soccer Mr. Fields', I was captain of the Rosewood High team." Everyone at the table smiled. I took another gulp of my soda. The atmosphere was great, and Maya hadn't even done anything douchebag worthy...yet. Emily was holding my hand under the table, making me blush. The brunette was drawing little circles on the back of my hand, making my insides turn upside down. I looked over to see Cece laughing at a joke that one of the guys had told, she had decided to forgive Maya for attacking her, and I was proud of her for it.
"Wow, I always want Emmy here to join a school sport but she just refuses." He said jokingly, the whole table laughed light heartedly at his joke. "So how long have you two been together?" He asked me.
"Dad, stop." Emily said, already embarrassed. her cheeks were flushed. I just laughed. "We've been together for about three weeks." She finally said, after a load of teasing from the entire table.
"You know, Emily still sleeps with a teddy bear." Cole suddenly said, causing the entire table to eject in yet another fit of laughter.
"Excuse him Alison, he is kind of a douche." Ivy stated. Causing Cole to smile her way, Ivy winked at him. No one else noticed, it was the type of thing only I noticed. He looked happy, the type of happy everyone wished to be at some point. The best thing in life is finding someone who knows all your flaws, and you're mistakes but still thinks you're absolutely amazing. That thought caused me to tear my eyes away from Cole and Ivy, and then look at Emily. I discovered she was already looking at me. I looked down in embarrassment, then looked up again to discover she was still looking deep into my eyes, making my soul shiver. Everyone else seemed to fade away, the only thing that caught my attention right now was Emily's chocolate orbs.
It was in that moment that I realized that I was in love with the girl, everything from how she texted me good morning, and good night. She held my hands in the hallways, she carried my school stuff for me, she took me too my doctors appointments, she tied my shoes for me...everything about Emily Fields drove me insane. I could tell it was a moment of realization for Emily as well.
The rest of the night flew past us, Emily and I kept glancing at each other throughout the whole time. Cece was waiting in the car, I was standing right outside of the door talking to Emily. "You know we gotta talk tomorrow right?" She asked me. I nodded.
"Em...I love." She put her index finger on my mouth.
"Not yet. Tomorrow." She said. I decided to trust her judgment. We both starred into each others eyes and leaned in painfully slow pace. I looked at her warm luscious lips begging for them to be on mine. I could smell her minty breath as it brushed along my lips. I couldn't fight the urge and pulled her to my lips. Her warm lips felt like heaven with their warmth and softness. She kissed back with so much intensity, and I felt like I would burst. It was the best kiss we had ever shared. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders, pulling her even closer. For a moment my brain shut down, and the pure ecstasy of our shape-shifting mouths swirling and puckering with each delicious smack of escaping air overcame my entire body. The sweat on my brow cooled; the hairs on my skin stood vigilant, waiting to shoot off into space at any moment. She finally pulled away. "Goodnight Alison." Emily said, kissing me softly on the lips one more time.
"Goodnight." I breathed, still catching my breath from our passionate kiss. Emily smiled at me and retreated back into her house. I got back in the car with Cece.
"That was one hot kiss." She commented. I smiled to myself. "So, you gonna bang her or not?" She asked, I rolled my eyes at my blonde best friend. But, I considered her idea. Emily and I had never talked about sex, she was an expert at it, and I was...not. I had only done it once, what can I say? It was a drunken night at a party with my ex girlfriend. It wasn't right, and if I could take that back I would. But, I couldn't live in the past, I had to move on with my new life.
"I don't know." I simply said before resting my head against the window. Cece sighed and drove off.
Emily's POV
My night with Alison was amazing, everyone had a good time. Tonight was when I realized I was in love with the blonde. I was scared though, I kept thinking about the moment of intense eye-contact we shared earlier at dinner time. The moment kept running around and around in my head, for what seemed like the 1000th time. "You know, sometimes you gotta quit thinking so much. If it feels right, it probably is. So just go with it." I heard my sister say to me, I looked up at her.
"What if things don't go right? What if I get hurt again?" I asked her.
"You will get hurt again, Alison will hurt you. You're also gonna hurt her. The couples that are meant to be, are the ones who go through everything that is meant to tear them apart and come out even stronger than they were before. That is gonna be you and Ali, I can feel it." She smiled at me before making an exit. Maya sat next to me on the couch.
"You know, I really thought you and I were finished business." I commented. Maya rolled her eyes at me, a sly smile appearing on her lips.
"You and I will never be finished business." She got up, and I followed her. She went out into our backyard and we both climbed up to the treehouse. We sat down against the wall. "I'm starting to realize you were never truly in love with me. You loved the idea of being with me...The badass biker girl." Maya scoffed, I just let her let all those emotions out. "But you never loved me, you destroyed me. Since you did that, I'm sure that you never loved me." I looked at her and a single tear was running down her face. She quickly wiped it away.
"Maya…" I was going to continue but I couldn't find the words to say.
"It sucks because...you were, and still are my person. But, I realized that I was never your person. When I first left, did you miss me? Be honest, I can't take anymore lies in my life right now." I breathed out heavily.
"I don't think I missed you really, just the feelings you gave me. But now, its all a faded memory. Its really weird how these things work." Maya smiled in such a tragic way that I thought it would destroy me. "I'll always care for you Maya, even if we aren't together, and even if we're far, far apart from each other." I stated. Maya stood up from the wall slowly, she walked towards the exit door of the tree house. She just looked out into the starry night.
"You weren't just a star to me Emily, you were my whole damn sky." She continued staring out into the dark sky, only illuminated by the trillions of stars out there. "I poured everything I had into you and you still turned out empty." I closed my eyes to keep the tears from falling. Maya looked so tragic, and she sounded so broken."I'm rotten to the core, and I don't want to be here anymore." She said before climbing down to the ground. I wiped one of my tears away and just laid there.
So, I've gotten a lot of questions about Maya. So this is what I'll say. She is the most tragic character I've ever made. She is someone who is struggling a lot, she just wants to find color in a black and white world. She is really a big representation of me I think. Drop a review.
