DsaChapter 10
Emily's POV
I had called Alison, it was late. Maybe about 2:30 am. The dinner tonight had brought up a lot of stuff for me emotionally. "Hey you okay Em?" She asked in a groggy voice. I thought about hanging up, pretending that it could have been a butt dial, but she would ask why I was up so early.
"Can I come over? I'm not doing too well." I admitted. I was already outside of her house in my car. I saw the light in one of the rooms turn on. "I can climb up through the window." I joked, she laughed softly. I smiled lightly at that. I saw her window open and she stuck her head out of it. I got out of the car and waved at her. She smiled. She held out a piece of paper that read:
THE DOOR IS OPEN
I smiled at her before hanging up the phone, and quietly heading inside and then upstairs, not wanting to disturb her parents, or her brother. I made my way into her room and closed the door behind me. She was sitting on her bed. I laid down next to her. "I don't think you understand how important it is for me to hear the sound of your voice every day." I spoke softly.
"What did you do Emily?" She asked, I knew she would be able to sense my guilt, my inner sadness and anger within myself. I sighed heavily, contemplating how to answer the question.
"Have you ever seen someone...who was just broken, someone who looked like their soul had just been destroyed, someone whose heart looked like it had shattered in a million pieces?" I asked her. She looked at me with one of her signature looks.
"Yeah, why?"
"Now, imagine seeing that person...How would that make you feel if you were the reason why that person was so fragile and empty?" I asked vaguely. I snuggled up into her chest. Usually, I was the supportive one. Now, it was Alison's turn, and so far she was doing a pretty shitty job.
ALISON'S POV
I was doing a shitty job of comforting Emily, she was good at it. I was good at giving advice, but this subject was fairly new to me. Instead of focusing on Emily's hardship at the moment I was trying to figure out who she was talking about. Maybe Spencer? Hanna? Then it hit me, Maya. She was talking about her.
"I don't know what to do Alison, I'm scared. I've never seen Maya like that." I sighed heavily. I didn't know what to do either. I didn't know Maya, I didn't know her struggle, it was impossible for me to accurately give Emily advice.I decided to go against my judgement.
"You should go check on her, she needs you Emily." She looked surprised with my advice, but pleased at the same time. "You didn't come here for advice, you came here for permission to help someone you care about. You don't need my permission, help her Em." I finished. She got up from the bed.
"Thank you...And we're still gonna talk today." She stated. She walked over to the window, opened it and then bolted out of it. I shook my head in disbelief. I got up quickly to check if she was okay. All I saw was her car drive off into the night.
"She just jumped out of the window." I heard a voice behind me say, startling me a little. It was just Jason.
"At least it wasn't a bridge." I said cryptically.
"What?"
"Nothing Jason, go to bed kiddo." I said. He nodded and left.
EMILY'S POV
I walked up to Maya's apartment, and opened the door with my key. I slowly walked in and closed the door. I smiled, thinking about when she gave the key to me.
(Flashback)
I rolled over on Maya's bed, and smiled at her. "How was your nap?" She asked with a cute smile.
"Good, I'm glad I woke up to the sight of you." I purred. I leaned over and kissed her softly on the lips. She smiled.
"You know you have the key to my heart right?" She asked, I nodded. She went into her pocket and pulled a key out. I gasped. "Since you have the key to my heart I was hoping you might want the key to my...well our little place." I smiled and kissed her once more. "I lied when I said you were my princess." She suddenly said
"What do you mean?" I asked her confusedly.
"You're my queen."
"What are you doing here Emily?" Maya asked me, snapping me out of my flashback. She took her desert eagle out of her pants and sat in on the coffee table. It had been a gift from my dad to her. My family always loved Maya, she was almost like a second daughter to them.
"I came to check on you." Maya rolled her eyes and plopped down on the couch.
"Just go Emily, I don't have the energy to deal with your bullshit." She spat.
"If you really didn't want me here you would have shot me with that gun." I stated, looking at the desert eagle on the glass coffee table. "I'm here because I care, despite everything Maya, I still care about you!" I yelled out of pure frustration.
"Stop lying to yourself Emily! You don't care, if you did care, you wouldn't be here! You'd just leave me the hell alone like I asked you too!" She stood up from the couch, she was now in my face. I wasn't scared of her, I could take her easily if she tried anything.
"Why do you always have to be so fucking difficult?!" I yelled at her. She scoffed.
"Really?! I'm difficult?! I think you're confusing me with yourself!" I shoved her hard, making her stumble back a little, but she ended up right back in my face.
"You left!" I yelled. It was true, she had left Rosewood. She left me all alone, it took me months to finally manage to come out of the house. She had broken me. I remember each night I buried my head into my pillow telling myself I was strong because I had gone one more day without her. That was what really got me through those tough times.
"You tried to make me choose between you and the club! The two things I care most about in this world! I could choose Emily, and I'm sorry that I chose the only family I've ever had over a relationship that I wasn't even sure where was going!" I could feel her rage. "You moved on...You got the easy part." She rubbed her temples in frustration and sat back down on the couch. I sat next to her and sighed heavily.
"Moving on; it sounds easy...But I died a thousand times in pain just to appreciate that phrase." She looked down at the floor, obviously avoiding my eyes.
"I could get punched by the strongest man in the world, but it still wouldn't hurt as much as knowing someone else is making you happier than I ever could." That statement alone was enough to shatter my heart. She picked up the gun from the coffee table. She handed it to me. "You should take this...I might be dead in the morning if you don't." She looked so...dead. Inside and out, she was so pale. Her normal light brown eyes had darkened significantly, they just looked black now. Her cheeks were dark and hollow. She kept her eyes closed longer than they were open. She got up from the couch and walked back into her bedroom and slammed the door, making me jump slightly.
I put the gun in my belt and walked outside to my car.
LATER THAT DAY...
I went over to Alison's house for the second time today. I went up to her bedroom after her brother let me in. I leaned on the door frame as I watched her read her book. She wasn't wearing any makeup, and that made me smile. Alison wasn't beautiful because of her looks, she was beautiful because of how she was. The way she smiled at kids on the street, how forgiving she is, how supportive she is, how incredibly amazing she is. "Ali," She looked up when I started the sentence. "You don't know me, at all. I'm in an outlaw biker gang, I'm a spoiled little rich kid, and most of all I'm bad, really bad." Alison got up from her bed and walked over to me. She put her hands on my cheeks and wiped my tears away with the pads of her thumbs.
"Stop trying to scare me away, because I told you I'm not going anywhere," She kissed my forehead softly before looking back into my eyes. Her eyes were a piercing blue, almost like those found when peering at the shudders of the sun from beneath the ocean's surface, or from the pulse of a heartbeat, magnified beyond all comparable words and leaving you blinded, awestruck and amazed, even if only momentary, blue like fragmented crystals or displayed ice; shattered like a mirror almost to the extent that maybe she too saw the world through a shifted and unnatural gaze. "I know you Emily, I know about your fears and dreams, I know that when you're nervous you crack about every single bone in your body," she laughed slightly at that. "I know when you're worried because you always have that adorable look on your face, I know that you keep all your true emotions bottled up because you don't want to worry anyone...I know you Emily. I love you, and all your little things."
It took some time for what she said to sink in. But when it did, I slowly took her hand in mine and kissed her palm, breathing in her vanilla smell I shivered at the addictive smell that I had grown to love over my time with her. Alison grinned, and then she kissed me gently. Her hand was still on my face, I leaned into her. I could tell she had just finished chewing her favorite fruity gum. This is what a kiss is supposed to feel like, magical and passionate, never wanting it to end. She broke away and looked into my eyes intensely once again. "I need to hear you say it...Three words, eight letters." I rested my forehead against hers.
"I am permanently in love you Alison Dilaurentis, always and forever." She smiled and leaned back into me. Her lips were so soft, so perfect. She wrapped her arms around my neck pulling me closer into her. I was so in love with the blonde, even after only knowing her for a short time. I think I really fell in love with her the day she dropped her books in the hallway. I loved how innocent and shy she was. It was different from other girls. She noticed the little things, and that was what I loved the most about her. Her hands inched her way down to the end of my shirt. She slipped both of her hands under my shirt, touching my toned stomach. Her kisses slowly moved to my neck, causing me to emit a soft moan. We had never gone this far before, I didn't want to pressure her. But in this moment I couldn't focus on anything other than how amazing she was making me feel.
She pulled her hands from under my shirt, making me pout slightly. She laughed, "Someone's a little eager" She whispered into my ear, her hot breath making me shiver. I smiled and leaned into her, kissing her jawline and moving down to her neck. She laid me hands on my head, leading me where she wanted me. She lead me down to her collar bone. She pulled away from me and grabbed my hand, leading me to her bed, she suddenly pushed me down onto it, then she climbed on top of me.
I decided that I needed to get out of this situation, I really wasn't ready to sleep with Alison, and I don't think she was ready to sleep with me either. Out of no where my phone started vibrating. "Ali, my phone." She got off of me, only to start kissing my neck. I answered the phone, trying to hold back my moans.
"Hey Ha...ana." I stuttered out.
"Emergency meeting at your house. We have to lock up all the families and friends. Lockdown protocol. War has started." She reported seriously.
"Shit, okay." I hung up. "Ali, you have to come with me, bring your brother...A an outlaw war has started." She instantly got off of me. She rushed into her brothers room to get him.
Maya's POV
Everyone was on lockdown at Emily's huge house, but not me. I was in Rosewoods local bar with a half empty bottle of whiskey I had bought off the bartender, I took another chug of it, the liquid burning my throat. "You're the only one who loves me." I said to the bottle, caressing it like it was Emily. The bar doors opened and I saw the love of my life waltz in.
"C'mon..." She spoke other words but they were in inaudible.
"I still love you," I slurred as she put one of my arms around her shoulders. "But you don't care." A flash of hurt and guilt appeared on her face, as much as I wanted to be happy that I was hurting her, Aaron I couldn't be...because despite everything...she was still my person.
