Gosh, finally got this update (CURSE YOU SCHOOL!) (oh, and LACK OF IDEAS!). Sorry for not updating sooner, but you know… life…. Yeah….

Anypoo, special thanks to the people who gave me some of their ideas (if I did, and didn't credit you directly, which I haven't, please tell me and I will do so in the next chapter). Also, I haven't said this in a long time, but thank you to my reviewers! I love you all, and you are very dear to me.

Disclaimer: Vocaloid isn't mine.

"What are we supposed to do now?" I asked while getting out of the car and stretching, Len doing the same. We were the only people at the beach, and in either direction all we saw was a long strip of snow. I could kind of make out a few cabins, but they were a far way off.

"I don't know. I didn't think this through," Len said with a sheepish smile. I slapped his arm, but didn't say anything as he let out a pitiful, "Ow."

"Shouldn't there be more people?" I asked, looking around to see no one. Although it was wintertime, I'm sure that there were still some things to do.

"Oh, yeah. We're on private property."

"Isn't this trespassing?"

"I know the owner."

I shrugged, and didn't say anything, instead choosing to walk towards the water. There was a slight breeze, but the sun was out, making it actually kind of nice.

"We should fly a kid," Len said like a little kid, sparkles in his eyes.

"We didn't bring a kite."

"I did," Len said, producing it out of no where. "I got it just in case there was a zombie apocalypse."

I didn't even bothering asking.

"Oh my gosh… is that a Kaito Kid kite?!" I asked frantically. No, not Kaito Shion, as in the popular singer, but Kaito Kid as in the awesome, hot phantom thief from Detective Conan.

"Yeah. It costed me about one fifty, because some people just don't know when to stop auctioning," Len said, mumbling to himself in annoyance. I giggled, but didn't say anything. "Yosh! Let's do this," Len said. He quickly tried to untangle the red string, but ended up failing, and instead wound up the string wrapped around him. "Help me, Rin!"

"What?" I asked, watching him in amusement. "I've never flown a kite before."

"Neither have I! I thought you would have," Len said. I tried to think about it- perhaps I had once, but forgot- but drew up blank and shrugged my shoulders. "Just get me out of here," Len said. I nodded my head once before taking my phone out. "W-What? No… No photos!"

"Too late," I said with a smile as I set it as my wallpaper. "Aw Lennykins, you are just so cute," I said with a laugh. He give me a little look that ended up making him look like a kitten that wrapped itself in red yarn.

"Just help me, women."

"On it."

However, ten minutes later I ended up somehow being wrapped about against Len, back-to-back.

"You suck," I mumbled.

"You know you love me," Len responded. "Look, the Red String of Fate is connecting us!"

I turned a deep red, and face palmed as well as I could, which didn't work. "I don't think this applies for us."

"Why not?" It sounded like he was generally pouting.

"Well, it's supposed to be around our ankles or little fingers…."

"So? Variety man! Look at us, mixin' it up!"

"..."

"That's all you can think of?"

Well, of course I could think of much, much more, the main reason being rather obvious.

"Well, I'm-"

In that moment, I realized how much Len was trying to make me feel better, and how I kept on bringing us back down by saying melancholic things like "I'm going to die." It really didn't make sense- we are complete strangers…. Although maybe he's doing this out of sympathy of pity.

The thought makes me want to throw up.

"Rin? You still there?" Len asks me gently, and I realized I still haven't responded.

"Yeah, I can think of more reasons!" I said. "No turd cake would ever want to be soulmates with you!"

No turdcake except for me…

...plus another hundred thousand fangirls and such.

"Ouch!" Len gasped in mock-hurt. "You, Rin Kagamine, are truly cold hearted."

"Well it's true," I said with an air of superiority.

"You little-" Len started off, and then reach over and tried to tickle me, I suppose. I tried to move out of his reach, but neither of our actions worked, due to the string that held up together. However, Len kept on persisting, which somehow lead to us managing to untangle. .

"YOU'RE IN FOR A WORD OF PAIN, RIN KAGAMINE!" Len screamed as he chased after me. We both sprinted farther and farther away from the car. There was tightening in my chest I hadn't felt in years, along with a shortness of breath. It was exhilarating.

"WORD?" Len cursed under his and increased his speed. "WELL, COME AT ME, BRO!" I screamed, trying to increase my speed. My legs really hurt, but I didn't mind. It was oddly fun.

"Got you!" Len mumbled into my ear before lifting me up into the air. I let out a shriek, and protested for him to let me down, laughing as I said them. Len said nothing, a smirk simply planted on his face, and drew me closer and closer to the ocean.

"Len Kagamine! Don't you dare-" He got ready to through me. "LEN, DON'T!" I screamed, closing my eyes and waiting for impact.

It never came. Instead, I heard loud laughter coming from right above me. I peered one eye open to see Len cracking up, for reasons unknown to me. "Jerk!" I screamed.

"What's the big deal? It's just water."

"Just freezing cold water. Sorry, boya, but I don't want to die. Not today." His smile falter a little, but I kept my on, ignoring the rush of heat that flooded my body due to my choice of words. He let me down and then swooped in for a small kiss before pulling back and asking me to sing for him.

"What song?" I asked.

"A good one. I like your voice." I thought about it for awhile before launching into one. "Sanman dena kono sekai…." It was supposed to have sort of a rock tempo, although it was hard to tell without anyone instruments accompanying me in the background.

"Pretty song," Len said after I finished. I smiled at him, unable to say anything due to the lack of breath. "What's it called."

"D-Dying… Message," I managed to wheeze out with a smile, before collapsing into the snow. "Do… you mind getting me… water?" I asked Len. He looked a little unsure, but told me that he would be back in a jiffy, and then raced to the car (which we had come a long distance from).

I finally caught my breath and then looked at the ocean, smiling at the scenery in front of me. It was nice and quiet until a hail of coughs suddenly erupted from my throat.

With trembling hands, I quickly cover it with my gloved hands, coughing viciously into them. When I drew them back, they were covered in blood, although it wasn't really liquid.

"I GOT IT, RIN!" Len called from the car.

I should probably tell him that we should go to the hospital. Instead I quickly took my gloves off and threw them into my pocket, then grabbing some snow and wiping my mouth the best I could. The end result left me shivering, but at least Len couldn't tell that I had been bleeding from my mouth.

I suppose I should be panicking, but I've been expecting this. Probably due to my sudden large amount of strenuous activities did this happen (well, strenuous to me).

"Why did you take your gloves off?" Len asked while through me the water bottle and then joining me in the snow dunes.

"There was an ugly stain that I hadn't noticed before," I said after taking a long sip of water, which seemed to make everything feel much better.

"What? That's no need to freeze to death."

"Hel-lo," I said while snapping my fingers. "Fashion." I honestly couldn't care about fashion, but it was the best excuse I could come up with.

"Girls," Len said with a sigh before taking off his awesome panda hat and putting it onto my head. He then stripped himself of one of his gloves and passed it to me, and then held onto my other hand, much as we had done in front of Piko's school.

"We're a stupid couple," I said with a laugh.

"You especially," Len said. "Now… let's warm you up." He then began leaning in.

Uh-oh.

A couple of minutes later, I pushed him back, completely out of breath. "G-Give me a s-second," I managed to wheeze out.

"Are you okay?" Len asked, passing me the water. I nodded my head while taking a long sip. "Warm now?" He said with a mischievous smile, making it to sound more like a statement than a question.

"...Yeah," I said while looking the other way. Len laughed and tried to lean in again, but I decided to then just lay back down instead, staring up at the sky. A couple of clouds had covered the sun, making the day seem darker. I took and a deep breath in, and then exhaled, trying to slow down my rapidly beating heart. Len was staring at me, I could tell, but I didn't look at him. Instead I choose to stare the the ocean, which went out as far as the eye could see.

"Sing another song," Len said. I shrugged before flipping on my side so that I would now look at him.

"I already sung you one before," I replied, even though I secretly really did want to sing a song for him. "Why don't you sing?"

"I don't know any songs." I sighed.

"Fine. Here's how it'll go: I'll sing first, and then you will, after listening to the lyrics. Okay?"

"Wait, I can't memorize-"

"You won't, okay? It's starts the same, but then I'll have to mouth everything to you." He gave me a scared look, and I laughed before beginning. "Watashi wa, utau no ga suki…." I sung, smiling at him energetically as I sung. He stood up, and then extended his hand to help me. The chorus hit, and then my turn was done.

"W-What?" Len said, trying to remember the lyrics.

"Sing, shota boy!"

"Rin, I- Fine. Uh, Watashi wa…." He stumbled on the lyrics half the time, and I had to mouth them to him (as expected), but his voice… it's beautiful. A warm, tingly sensation overtook me- I could feel it everywhere, from my nose to my feet- and then when the chorus hit, I could feel chills go down my spine. After he finished, we both sang together, sounding pretty good, and then it was over.

"What song was that?" Len asked, slightly out of breath.

"Electric Angel. I wrote it when I was younger," I replied.

It's a beautiful song." I shrugged, although I felt another surge of heat flow through me when he said those words.

"You're nice, Len," I replied. "I don't understand why you would want to hang around me, but I'm glad that you do."

"There plenty of reasons, Rinny. You're sardonic, which makes me laugh. You're lyrics are amazing. You're my uber-cute girlfriend…." On and on he went, listing off things I hadn't even noticed about myself. "You're complex to always be r- You're crying," Len said.

"Eh?"

In response, he wiped my cheek with his finger, and then showed it to me. True to what he said, his finger was wet.

"Sorry," I said, wiping my face with the sleeve of my jacket. "It's just that I haven't ever heard anyone ever say things like that about me before." I took a deep breath, still sniffing slightly, before forcing myself to stop crying. It's a trick I somehow managed to learn when after my parents death. On nights when Piko would seek comfort, and ask about where Mommy and Daddy were, I couldn't exactly start crying, right?

"I don't understand why," Len said, smiling gently.

"Well… thanks," I replied, a smile on my face. "Although, truthfully, Len, you should be the one getting all the praise. You're too… I don't know how to describe it other than-"

And suddenly my vision turned black, and I could feel myself falling.

"...Yes, we got her records from Dr. Kiyoteru."

I kind of registered the words, but in truth, I just wanted to turn around and go back to sleep.

"I've never seen a case like her's, though. I mean, yes, teenagers die from disease, but this is just…."

Hmm…. Whatever it is, it must not matter. I think I'll sleep for a little bit longer."

"I know. Anyways, are you her legal guardian?"

"No. We came to the beach for a day."

Wait. That's Len, right?

"Contact information? Her medication?"

I want to see him, which means that I'll have to get up, right?

"Uh, there's some in her car."

My eyes flutter open.

"I'll get it," a high pitched, female voice says, right before the door opens and slams shut.

"Rin! You're awake!" Suddenly a pair of warm arms wrap themselves around me, and although I don't reciprocate the hug, they refuse to move. My heads throbbing, and I feel like throwing up.

"Hi, Len. What's going on?" I asked, rubbing my eyes tiredly. I'm in a small, hospital room.

A female doctor along with a nurse stand near by bed, and Len hovers directly above me, peering down with wide eyes.

"You collapsed onto the beach. They called in your doctor, Kiyoteru. He should be here in a little bit." I nod my head, but don't question anything.

The door slides back open, and a small, petite figure walks in, shorter than me (which is saying something). She doesn't seem to be from this planet- her hair is a hue of colors, falling down in strands of blue and violet, her eyes matching. A small, cute round face, and her outfit is perfectly matched. We're complete opposites.

"Len, I got the medication," she says, handing it to him. She knows Len, meaning that they must be friends. I observe their interaction dully, not saying anything. Len gives her the tiniest of smiles before turning to me, all business once again.

"What do you need?" He asks, handing me my Fullmetal Alchemist drawstring that contains my medication and yellow notebook. I quickly open it and take out all my different prescription bottles.

"Let's see…. I would probably need this, this, this, and this," I say, more to myself than anyone else.

"Rin Kagamine, are you self prescribing your own medication bottles?" A voice from the doorway says. There stands my doctor, Kiyoteru Hiyama, and my once-personal nurse Momo Momone. "You know you aren't supposed to take anything after these attacks without my permission.

"Kiyo, I know exactly what to take, since it never changes," I say with a sigh as he walked to my bedside. Momo bounces over to me and gives me a long hug, pulling away reluctantly after a long moment. The other doctor and nurse say something I don't catch, and then leave the room. Len stares at practically my doctor and nurse while the girl stares at Len.

"What, I don't get a hug?" Kiyoteru asks. I smile sadly before reaching him and giving him a quick hug. Our relationship exceeds the normal doctor-patient one, on account that he's been treating me for four years. Now, to me, he's more like an uncle.

"How's Lily and Yuki?" Lily is his wife, while Yuki his daughter. He got married in the years he treated me, and his wedding was one of the few occasions I got to leave the hospital.

"They're fine. A little worried about you, but they're fine."

"Tell them that I'm perfectly okay, especially Yuki." She's young, only two years old. Kiyoteru nods his head, a depressed look on his face.

"Neh, I brought you an orange drink," Momo says before handing it to me. I smile at her before taking a sip, avoiding everyone's eyes in the room. I know that they're all staring at me with the sympathy, and I just don't want to see it. I don't need their pity.

"Who's this?" Kiyoteru asks, gesturing at Len and the girl.

"That's Len Kagamine and some chick I don't know," I say before taking another sip. "Len and I are dating?"

"Why did you phrase that like a question?" Len whines, although I can tell it's more of for my benefit to make me laugh than anything else.

"My name's Aoki Lapis," the girl says with a bow before I can answer.

Aoki… she used to date Len, yeah?

"Why is she here?" I ask, before realizing how rude that sounds. "I-I mean like, not in the rude way, but more of curiosity….?"

"I called her and told her that I would be staying at the beach a little bit longer than expected. She came down to pick her car backup," Len said. I nodded my head and stared at the ground, feeling guilty that I had caused several people to have to take time out of their day to come all the way down here due to me. An awkward silence engulfed the room, and I took another sip of the soda in order to distract myself from my guilty thoughts.

"Listen, Rin. I'll be back in a second, I just need to fill out some papers for you. Um… Len, was it? Come with me," Kiyoteru said before leaving the room, Len giving me a strange look before following him.

"Urg, now he's going to go and integrate Len about your relationship. I'll go stop him from killing Len if he says a wrong answer," Momo said, face palming as she walked out of the room.

This left Aoki Lapis and I alone. She shifted slightly, moving her purse from one arm to another, before taking a seat by my bed. We sat in silence, not really knowing each other enough to make actual conversation.

"So, you're Len's… uh, friend, from high school," I said. He's truthfully the only link we have, so let's just talk about him. "Has he changed much?"

She doesn't answer.

"Um…." I say awkwardly.

"Listen," she says, finally, breaking the silence. Her voice is high pitched, higher than mine. "Len's a good friend of mine, and… how should I say this….?"

My heart sinks down to my stomach, and I feel nervous for reasons I don't even understand myself.

"Len, he's a really good person." She waits for my confirmation, so I nod my head slowly, not sure where this is going. "And, you're… you know, about to…."

"Die, pass away, yeah, yeah," I say with an amount of nonchalance I don't really feel. "Just get to the point already."

"I don't want him to get hurt. If you two are dating, and if you die on him, he's going to be devastated."

"He knows what he got himself into. I tried to reject him, but-"

"What if he's just dating you out of sympathy?"

Silence. She sits patiently for a moment, waiting for the words to fully sink it.

It would be such a Len thing to do. Because he's such a nice person, because he probably doesn't feel nothing for me. I said so myself, right? "I don't understand why you would want to hang around me, but I'm glad that you do." Why would he, other than he feels bad for me, and is doing this to keep me happy for the short time I have left.

"He...he, uh… asked me out before he knew," I manage to say.

"Why didn't you reject him if you knew you would cause him such pain. What gives you such a right to do that to a person?" Her voice keeps on rising in volume, and I feel myself going numb, hearing the words but not really registering them.

"I-I tried to," I say, the words coming out in such an unconvincing way. "I told him afterwards, and yet he still wanted to date me."

"Okay, how about this? What if his original asking was just a joke? He's done it before, something that everyone could laugh at. You understand what I'm trying to say?"

I do. It could have been meant to be one of those relationships not to be taken seriously, or a Shojo-manga style relationship where the girl always rejects the guys advances with violence or crude language.

"So he continued dating you in order to help your spirits grow." I gulp as she gets up. "Listen, I'm not trying to be the antagonist here. I'm just saying that you should break up with him now, so that he doesn't get hurt later."

"That doesn't make much sense. You say that our relationship was fake, yet you want us to break up in order for Rin to not hurt me on her oncoming time to move on." Both of our heads snap to the doorway, shocked to hear his voice. We were so involved in our conversation that he hadn't even noticed him.

"Len!"

Okay, I'm going to end it there cause there is a new Legend of Korra episode I want to watch, and it's already 1:30am. Oops.
