Haven't updated in a while… oops. I apologize, and thank my readers for keeping up with this fic regardless. Love ya.

Warning: there is mention of "mature" content, but it's barely there. Things happen, but it's not explicit.

There are some mentions of homosexuality in this chapter, but I'm not trying to make fun of anyone, I swear. Although I am not lesbian myself, I still support gay rights, so... yeah.

Disclaimer: Ha.

Oh, and here's a flashback since it's been awhile.

"So he continued dating you in order to help your spirit grow." I gulp as she gets up. "Listen, I'm not trying to be the antagonist here. I'm just saying that you should break up with him now, so that he doesn't get hurt later."

"That doesn't make much sense. You say that our relationship was fake, yet you want us to break up in order for Rin to not hurt me on her oncoming time to move on." Both of our heads snap to the doorway, shocked to hear his voice. We were so involved in our conversation that he hadn't even noticed him.

"Len!"

There a sudden giggling that seems to be coming from Len, even though his mouth isn't open. "Len?" I ask, hesitant.

"Honey, I'm a billion times better than him." A loud, female voice. From behind Len comes a female with long red hair, a hat on top of her head. She's dressed in what seems to be cosplay- a gothic style tube top and a long, flowing dress. Her eyes are a starting shade of green. "What's up with this catfight, anyways?"

"Ritsu?" Aoki says, and I immediately feel a surge of some sort of jealous since she knows more than me. Childish.

However, neither answer as Len walks up to me and grabs my hand. "I'm sorry, Aoki, but I'm staying with her. Till the very end, still whatever comes after."

"Awwww," the female, Ritsu says. Aoki opens and closes her mouth several times before spinning on her heels and leaving the room.

"Was she always like that?" Len asks, sinking into the chair right next to my bed.

"Yes. You never noticed how protective she was, Len, because of your infatuation. You've only ever dated her, and she liked that, being the only one to date the genius-"

"Don't call me that."

"-So when another girl comes in, it's got to be trouble," Ritsu finishes. "And with such a high IQ and all those legal documents to prove it, of course you're a genius!"

"Urg, get him away from me," Len groans, burying his face into his hands. Why does he say 'him'?

"Who are you?" I ask in amazement. Ritsu grins at me and makes a peace sign.

"Why, Ritsu of course! Len Kagamine's best friend from high school… we're bffs for life, nya!" Ritsu says while dramatically spinning around the room. "So, when I heard that he had a girlfriend, I just had to see her! And, to think you're so adorable… I mean, first Aoki then this chick? Len, you pimp!"

Such a handful.

"My name's Rin," I say, slightly fearing my life. Ritsu grabs my hands and leans in real close- close enough to share breathing space.

"You're like a little bunny," she whispers, her voice quiet. "Those are always the best to devour."

Suddenly Len's standing in between us, and he's glaring at Ritsu. "Stay away from her, freak," he growls.

"Is that anyway to treat your best friend?!"

"Trust me, Rin. We're not friends," Len says, although I can obviously see how close they are. Aw, little Tsundere Len.

"But Lenny! I know evvvvverything about you~! Like, your three sizes!"

"I DON'T HAVE THREE SIZES!"

"And remember when everyone thought we were dating?"

What.

"That was the worst," Len moans.

"Agreed. I'm a lot of things, but I'm not a homo, not that I have anything against them," Ritsu says cheering.

I stare at Len in shock, a hand going up to my mouth. "Len, you really are a girl!" I say in surprise.

"IT'S NOT THAT!"

"Love, you've misunderstood," Ritsu says, grabbing my hand. She suddenly grabs my hand and begins pulling it down, almost till the her pelvic area.

"W-What?" I ask, not sure what she intends to do with my hand.

"NO! RIN, YOU MUSTN'T!" Len screams, running and jumping between the two of us so that our hands fall apart. Len falls onto the ground, but quickly picks himself up and turns to me. "Did you touch it? Did you touch anything?"

"What are you talking about, Len?" I ask, dread creeping up.

"Why, he's talking about my Pee-Pee of course!" Ritsu says cheerfully.

What.

"H…uuuuuh?" I ask, totally confused. But now I can see it… her, no his jawline is more masculine than a female's should be. That would also explain why Len refers to Ritsu as a "he."

"She's a he?" I ask.

"Yup. And his reasons are completely messed up, too," Len said shaking his head. I look at Ritsu, not bothering to ask the question when it's written all over my face.

"Ah, I do this to mess with people! People are so funny, just look at your reactions! Hohoho!" Ritsu says, laughing evilly.

What a scary person.

"Are you sure she can leave?" Len asks Kiyoteru frantically as he hands me my medication refills.

"Eh, it's happened before, Len," I say, but he ignores me.

"She will be fine for about five more days. Use it well, and remember that you are getting weaker, Rin. Don't do anything reckless." He glares at me, but then wraps his arms around me.

He doesn't smell like medication, or even blood. More like… lemon grass.

"I'll miss you, Kiyo," I say. And, as weird as it may seem, I've always thought of Kiyoteru as my second father.

"Silly, we'll see each soon!" Kiyo says, sounding upbeat for my sake. "And, in that week, I'll work my ass off, don't you worry." I smile, but it's a sad kind of smile.

"It's fine. It's too late, so I'll see you in a week." I pause for a second before leaning in and giving him a quick kiss of the cheek. "Thanks for everything."

We leave the hospital shortly. I'm not entirely sure where we are going, but I believe that it's close to the direction of the hotel, so I follow Len without asking any questions.

However, when I notice that we're walking past the hotel, I can't help but to get a little worried. "Where are we going, Len?"

"The beach."

"Again?"

"We have fireworks to set off."

Now that I think about it, that was on the list.

"Rin." Is it just me, or does he sound angry?

"Is something wrong, Len? Don't tell me about Kiyoteru," I say, almost rolling my eyes. He can't be jealous because I gave some other a guy a hug. That would be stupid, not to mention lame.

"No, I understand your feelings for that. He's a good man, and, not only that, you told me he was married." He hesitates before stopping altogether. I walk one - two- three steps, before realizing he's not next to me. "Len, what is it?"

He suddenly surges forward, grabs me, and then presses his lips against mine. I don't resist, but I don't respond- I'm completely confused. What's with him?

"Len?" I ask, breaking away.

"I swear, what Aoki isn't true. I promise," Len says frantically, and I realize that I probably misunderstood his anger for desperation. "I really, really like you, it's not out of sympathy."

I pause for a second before giving a long and tender kiss on the lips. "It's fine, I understand," I reply, but he shakes his head.

"You don't understand, Rin. True, I feel a bit of desperation, not to mention uselessness, due to the supposed upcoming event, but, as twisted as this may sound, I don't think I'm ever as happy as I could be when I'm with you."

And, I do understand, because it's the same for me. My death is coming up, but I'm so happy around Len….

Somehow, twenty minutes later, I find myself in the hotel room with Len. He's on top of me on the bed, and it's almost like we're glued together. Hands begin to roam, noises that have never come out of my mouth before are being made.

There's no lust in his eyes.

And, I swear, if I had meet him before, I would be completely in love with him. There hasn't been enough time right now, and there never will be.

So, when he asks me if this is okay, if I'm sure, I nod my head. I want him to be my first and last.

Later in the night I suddenly find myself awake. His arms are wrapped around me, and he sleeps peacefully. And although neither of us has clothes on, there is a body warmth shared between us, so I don't feel cold.

I smile as I stroke his hair, accidentally waking him up. However, Len doesn't get up. Instead he asks, "Are you okay? Does it still it hurt?" I just smile a response. "I'm happy right now," he says.

"I am, too." There's a slight pause as we just stare at each other. I can't stop staring at those beautiful eyes - they're too captivating. He smiles gently and kisses my nose gently.

"We should get some sleep soon." And even though I rely yes, neither of us close our eyes, let alone fall asleep.

Thirty minutes slip by, and then an hour.

Bye this time I am drowsy, so tired that I almost don't catch the words he utters to me when he believes me to be asleep.

"I love you."

BOOM!

"I forgot how pretty fireworks could be," Len says as he sends up another one. I laugh as Len smiles mischievously at me, and then slips his arm around my waist. "You look so beautiful when you smile," he whispers into my ear, and then laughing when he sees my blush.

"H-Hey, what's that?" I ask as a weird, red blob moves closer and closer to us, coming from inland. Len looks at it for a second before face palming and muttering some inappropriate things under his breath.

When the blob is close enough, I can see that it's Ritsu.

"RIN KAGAMINE! YOU'RE STORY IS TOUCHING!" He screams, and then runs to hug me. Len steps in before Ritsu can touch me.

"Beware. There seems to be a pervert in the area," Len jokes, turning his head to stare at me. I smile gently at him. There's this unbelievable amount of joy that I feel every time I see his beautiful azure eyes. Cloud Nine, they call it?

Ritsu stares at me, and then smirks at the two of us. "Oh-ho, so the young kiddos were busy last night? Did you have-"

Len quickly covers Ritsu's mouth. "Please don't ruin everything I love in my life," Len says while Ritsu rolls his eyes and then licks Len's finger. "Ew. Ew, ew, ew! Rin, come disinfect it." He holds his finger out to me, so I give it a quick kiss. "WHY?!" He demands to Ritsu.

"You were seducing me, Len, what can I say?"

"What happened to not being gay?"

"For you I would turn into anything... a monster, a creature of madness, a homo."

"How did you know, though?" I ask, curiosity bubbling through me. "What we... uh, did last night?"

"Your neck. If you're going to try hiding hickies with a scarf, at least do it properly." I blush a deep red and quickly fix my scarf. I guess it's true that curiosity killed the cat. "Anyways, back to what I was saying before," he says, becoming serious for once. "I'm so sorry about how I treated you before, I didn't know that-"

"I liked how you were before, so keep acting like that. I don't need any sympathy," I say while stretching my arms, trying to be the picture of calm.

"Oh-ho, we have a strong girl here," Ritsu says while snapping his fan open to cover the bottom of his face. Where one earth did he get that from? "I like it."

"Did you feel the shivers, too, Rin?"

"Hey there, blondie. I'm not talkin' to you."

"Thank Kami-sama. You never shut up."

"Nevermind, I will talk to you. Lalalalala, Lenkins is a piggywiggy, laaaaaaaaaa~!"

"You aren't talking, you're spurting gibberish. So shut up, will you?"

It's so weird seeing Len like this. Usually he acts like a player while indirectly showing kindness. But, I like this side of him, too. And, I like Ritsu, despite being terrifying, not to mention weird. They're both good people.

"Rin, you're on my side, right?" Ritsu says, leaning in close.

"BACK!" Len screams while karate-chopping Ritsu's head. Ritsu glares at him, but whines to me, "Rin, he's bullying me!"

"Liar!"

"Rinny, hellllllp me!" Ritsu screams while running away, Len chasing after him.

"Len, stop it," I scold playfully. Len stops in mid-motion and turns and storms his way to me.

"RITSU YOU STUPID, STUPID BAD INFLUENCE!"

"You used stupid twice, Lenny! I guess you're not really a genius, are you now?"

"That's what I've been saying all along, right?"

"But it's been proven! You've taken tests and done long, complicated, boring things to prove it!"

"Ritsu just shut up already." I laugh long and loud. It's cute seeing this side of Len- a side he's never shown me before.

"He's... he's so mean!" says Ritsu with a false sob, dramatic sob. "I've cried this much since Zack died. Now, every time I hear 'The Price of Freedom'(*) I burst into tears."

"Hey, Zack isn't someone to joke about. He was a hero, and he deserves to be treated with respect," I scold, and Ritsu looks at me in surprise.

"You know what I'm talking about?"

"Yes. I've played through a lot of games, as there is only so much that can be done in a hospital."

"Marry me, love," Ritsu says, perfectly clear, in front of Len.

"DIE!"

To clear up the any confusion:

(*) "The Price of Freedom" (and Zack) Are both from Final Fantasy Seven- Crisis Core. That song... well, I'm the same as Ritsu. It makes me want to cry every time I listen to it. Look it up, it's beautiful, especially if you've played the game. I say "He was a hero" because, well, the entire game that's what Zack's aiming for, and the last words of the game are "Hey, would you say I became a hero?" (Ah, and now I'm crying. No game quite like the ff7 series)

Yes, Ritsu is the official cross-dressing Vocaloid. His personality isn't described to be like this, but I like it more like this.

Yes, Rin and Len had sex. I know how some people are like "ABSTINENCE! NO, SHE'S NOW A SINNER!" or whatever, but give Rin a break. She's about to die.

And, yes, that was a short chapter. However, I've only gotten three hours of sleep per night this entire sleep, and I can feel my eyes closing as I write this. I'm barely hanging on, so I had to stop writing, and I won't be able to write till next week, so I figured I should keep it short.
