Chapter 11

Tainaka residence

It was now 8:55 pm and Mrs. Tainaka was oblivious to Riku's and Mio's advances upon leaving her humble home once again. Why must she be so stubborn Riku thought deadpanning at the way His 'mother' insisted on him and Mio to stay a little longer. "Tainaka-san I have to get going and so does Riku-kun" Mio explained sitting on the couch by Satoshi, "Mio-chan you know that you can stay the night and so can Rikkun" the older woman said smiling fondly at the two. "But Its a school night!"

"That can be easily arranged, in fact I'll call your mother" and with that she went to the kitchen to make the call. Mio sighed and threw herself on the couch beside Satoshi in defeat while Riku sat on the opposite couch in front of her. Riku wasn't helping much and if he did do something, he wouldn't have a solution for this it seemed and the womans' choices are final. Satoshi just shrugged, he already knew how his mother acted and with Mio bringing Riku just made it worse. "You know this is a great opportunity for you to stay and say hi to my sis upstairs" Mio shivered and Riku frowned at the suggestion, "What are you talking about Satoshi?" Mio asked getting nervous about what he really meant. "Well Ritsu's spirit lingers in the air which in other words, in this house exactly, in her room" Riku's frown deepened and Mio whimpered quietly, Satoshi only did this to scare them and to maybe make Riku leave.

"Really I wanna see!" Riku replied showing no signs of fear whatsoever, while Mio seemed to believe each and every word that came out of the young boys' mouth. Of course Satoshi was just joking and Mio believed him which Riku thought was funny and sad at the same time if it weren't for Mio's fear of scary things. Right when things between the two boys were heating up Mrs. Tainaka made her entrance with a big grin present. "Well everything is good to go so I suggest you hit the hay" Riku nodded yes as also did Mio. "Really mom HAY...were not farm animals" Satoshi shook his head in disapproval and started walking towards the stairs, up to his room, "Goodnight Mioneechan, oh and Riku" Mrs. Tainaka did the same, telling Riku about some clothes he could use for the tonight, already set up for him in the bathroom and explaining to Mio it was no trouble for her to sleep in Ritsu's room. left arguing with Satoshi about Hay, leaving the two in the living, 20 minutes passed "So after all that she forgot to give me a blanket and pillow" Riku chuckled. Mio smiled "Don't worry you can come with me to get some from...Ritsu's room" she whispered the last part, leading the way. Riku was wondering if Mio was more afraid now for what Satoshi said or was being helpful to supply him with sleeping equipment for the night.

Upstairs now Mio walked carefully so she wouldn't disturb the others while Riku made ghost noise to get a reaction from the raven beauty. Mio sighed in annoyance "Please stop" Riku snickered and stopped beside Mio in front of Ritsu's door. "Mio did this friend of yours play in a band?" Mio nodded. Riku grinned "Do you hear that it...sounds like drumming" he whispered still grinning. Mio shivered but kept her cool "I-I d-don't hear anything" she whispered back, finding the door knob to Ritsu's room. She turned it slowly, but surely keeping a close eye at her friend from behind her as she did so, "Open it" Riku whispered softly. Mio soon did and a wave of relief and sadness hit her all at once. Bed sheets in a messy pile, shoes, books, manga and drum sticks were on the floor by a small table. Untouched for days it seemed ,like someone had come in,thrown their stuff and left right after. Mio stepped in, accidentally stepping on a blue book bag thrown near the door, its contents still inside, Riku then entered seeing it to and smiled sadly. I threw it there after mom told me to get some Stuff for dinner. His eyes followed Mio's and they fell upon a picture of HTT, Yui smothering Azusa, Mugi beside them blushing, with Mio shyly trying to hide herself and Ritsu hugging her.

Mio smiled tears beginning to form, such memories they had and now they couldn't make more with her. Pure silence over took them before Riku spoke. Speaking softly "I was right...but at the same time wrong" Mio turned to him, not understanding his words. "What do you mean?" she asked. Riku looked at the picture frame then to her smiling "The noise I heard was drumming but not from Ritsu but from you" Riku moved towards her, "This is what I heard" putting a hand on the girls' chest, were her heart should be. Soft, slow, and clam beats thumped in Mio's chest and Riku could hear and feel them. Mio looked at him and then at the hand on her heart, "My heart belongs to her..." she whispered unknowingly. Riku's hand returned to his side, "I know..."

10:45 blinked in red digital numbers on the clock, Riku and Mio stood close almost noses touching (almost). Mio felt strange at the moment but this person in front of her was different, very different. Why is he so close...My hearts beating faster and faster. They stood in silence, Mio looking at the floor and Riku looking straight at her. Amber eye's wanted desperately to show what he felt and tell her that he is Ritsu, but doing that can jeopardize his connection with Mio and the others. He cared about the future but right now was much more important, Mio was important. It was now or never...what happens tonight will change everything, rejection is a possible out come. "This isn't the first time we've met" Riku whispered grabbing hold of Mio's left hand. Blazing amber met cool grey, Riku continued "I've been in love with you for so long" Mio's eyebrow shot up in surprise, her hand slowly fitting in Riku's perfectly. "I know this sudden but it truly isn't, We've known each other since Elementary" Mio's eye's searched Riku's for an explanation, then a familiar person appeared in her eye's...Ritsu. Emotions everywhere, hearts drumming and hands entwined, Mio let some tears slid down her pink cheeks freely with joy and fear...

Please let this be real...Please...

Closing her eyes she leaned forward slowly, she could feel the others breath mingle with her own, breathing in slightly... she felt a pair of strong, warm arms hug her by the waist.

Holding her by the waist, he whispered something before tilting his head down a little, closing the gap between them. Warm lips, hot cheeks and fluttering hearts filled the room with unexpected light...

Words left in the air...

"Its Me Mio...I never left"
