Chapter 12

Making the moment last, Riku brought their bodies closer, feeling Mio's grip around his neck tighten. The moon shined brightly, showering its glow upon them. Her touch and soft lips...Such bliss. Lets this be my everlasting heaven….he thought , as they continued to kiss. The moment ended shortly as they separated for a breath of air, He opened his eyes and met Mio's beautiful stormy grey. This feeling only comes when you're right beside me like this. She smiled with small tears trailing down her face before she cupped his cheek ,spoke softly, "You'd risk everything for this" Confused, Riku answered uncertainly, "Risk what exactly?" Mio giggled, brushing the tears away and moving towards the window. "My love, Baka" Mio touched her heart while looking up at the night sky. I need more time to figure out my emotions. Watching the girl, Riku answered with confidence "Risk taking is what loves about" he heard another giggle and smiled. "Ritsu and Riku" She turned to meet his gaze, "Prove to me you're the crazy drummer i fell in love with" He knew this question would come, "I thought the kiss would be enough" he sheepishly replied. Mio blushed and crossed her arms, "I'm not that easy to fall for Ritsu even when you're a guy" She replied shyly. Riku laughed and stood up, standing beside her by the window. "If you want a answer its better if you ask Ricchan" Riku said, empathizing the name at the end.

"Who?"

"Ricchan, my...um..angel"

Seconds later stifled laughter was heard, Mio knew that well, Yui and Mugi had given Ritsu that nickname. Its was ridiculous but to cute. A nickname like that seemed kinda ridiculous, especially for a heavenly being such as an angel, but for some reason it made sense and Mio seemed to like it. Riku would love to see Ricchan's face right about know, he was right that things would work out. So all he need now was for the angel to appear and explain the strange situation to Mio clearly. The couple waited in silence but nothing came and Riku was getting a little ticked off. Why is it that when i need you, you never come, only when you feel like it! Among the silence, a small beep from the nearby clock signalled 12:00pm. Midnight had come sooner than expected. Riku was fidgeting now and his palms were starting to sweat, please Ricchan appear….

"Umm its getting late Riku, maybe we should talk about this in the morning" Mio suggested,moving towards the door, the raven beauty was pretty overwhelmed with everything still. After all the trouble Riku had been through, so they could just go to sleep and pick right where they left off, no he was going to tell her EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW!

"Ricchan please show your self" Riku pleaded, throwing his hands in the air. Mio watched as a ball of glow light appear beside the boy and transformed. An angel. Its small wings stretched and a cute yawn escaped its lips, smaller in size but a spitting image of its counter part. Ricchan stood in all its glowing glory in a white tunic with a gold halo floating above its head. Finally Riku's prayers were heard. Mio dazed, walked back towards Riku and the entity with wide eyes and spoke lower than a whisper. "Ritsu's angel" she poked the angels cheek with her pinkie, earning a small squeak from Ricchan. "Is this really an angel?" Mio questioned finding it rather hard to nodded, smiling when his angel and Mio made contact again. "Wow Mio-sama is very beautiful" Ricchan said with blushing red cheeks. Mio flushed pink and returned the compliment "I didn't know Ritsu's angel was so cute" she giggled. Riku's smile grew while watching the two make small talk. It feels nice knowing Mio isn't too freaked out by this, i'm still not use too it either! lets hope only good things come from now on. Still in his own thoughts, Mio had caught a glimpse of that familiar smile, her heart fluttered at the sight. I guess things were meant to be….you here with me. "Mio-sama I'll explain everything" Ricchan said, finding a comfortable seat on Riku's head. Riku pats the empty spot beside him for Mio to sit, she takes the invitation with a small blush gracing her cheeks. Now seated and having their attention, Ricchan cleared its little throat and began. "As an angel we do our best to protect you and keep you out of harms way. But to do so we need to be apart of your soul. Of course we can't tell the future or change the past, so when danger or death appear we do our best to prevent it." Mio and Riku looked at eachother and then at Ricchan, they could sense the huge responsibility the small entity carried on its small shoulders. Every human on earth was blessed with a guardian by his/her side till death. A fact most didn't know, a fact that could some day save their life. "We don't show ourselves to humans often, theres no real reason to. But when we do its to make sure they can feel secure and safe that someone still cares for those who think they're alone. For Ritsu it was different, death had taken her at the wrong time, which would mess with the spectrum of life for those who knew her . I couldn't change the past but I did have authority to bring her back and start anew with her alive. The reason it was easy for me to bring her back was because Ritsu had a purpose to come back and a reason to be alive." Mio's head was down, Riku could feel something stir in his heart at the words. They hit him deeply, a new perspective and respect for the angel had formed in Riku's heart. "Thank you for bringing her back….I owe you my life" Mio cried out softly, letting her tears fall on her lap. Ricchan flew towards her, lifting her chin with both hands to see her face. "No, thank you for believing in her and loving her" Richhan whispered, smiling softly at the raven beauty.

Riku didn't expect it to be so emotional, so when he saw Mio crying he couldn't hold it in anymore. He let some tears go, letting them flow freely. Since this whole life changing experience happened, he hadn't cried once for the fear of it being a dream. Making new friends, seeing his family and his old friends again made everything a reality he thought vanished the minute he left this world. "Thank you both for helping me and staying by my side" Riku sniffled, looking away, embarrassed for his outburst. "Its ok to cry Ritsu" Ricchan said happily, ruffling the boy's hair. Sniffling, Mio took Riku's hands, intertwining them with her own "Ritsu I can't live without you, so therefore i will stay by your side for eternity!" she whispered in a determined tone, kissing the boy's cheek. A warm hand cupped her cheek, "These tears are a sign that you trust me right?" Mio nodded. "I'll love you as Ritsu, not Riku" He whispered, pulling Mio into a hug. Its me Mio, I never left… .

Morning had risen for the new couple as they awoke to a new day full of hope and love so pure, even Mugi couldn't screw with. After their midnight talk, Riku had returned downstairs to the living room to fell into a deep and pleasant slumber, Mio had also done the same, her heart was now in peace knowing her love was ok. Despite having such doubt about Riku ever being Ritsu, Mio could now only see Riku in his old form. Nonetheless the name and gender was still a little confusing, with time she would eventually get the difference. As they slept an unknown force had awaken to wreak havoc on the boy sleeping comfortable on the couch. Satoshi walked downstairs yawning, already dressed for school, when he turned to the couch scowl made its way to his face, the lump on the couch stirred in his sight. You come into my house and play the good guy but i know you're hiding something. Before coming down his mother had told him to wake Mio and Riku early enough so they could head home and change for school, Satoshi agreed only to 'talk' with Riku. He told Mio the deal before heading down. "Dude its time" he called from the kitchen, while severing himself a bowl of cereal. Once again the lump on the couch groaned and wiggled, "Five more minutes" A groggy voice answered. Satoshi sighed, putting his spoon down "Lazy" he muttered before stuffing his mouth cereal. Riku moaned and groaned as he sat up, stretching his arms. Rubbing his eyes from their sleep, Riku looked at the 15 year old with a smug smile. "You're an early bird" Riku said standing up. Satoshi gave him a look, but ignored it.

"Mom told me too but I also wanted to talk to you"

"Oh, what about?"

"Mio-oneechan"

Eyebrows raised with interest Riku moved closer to the table and sat in a empty chair by the young boy.

"Ok what's up?"

"I don't want you near her" Satoshi stated his tone firm with confidence, his eyes burning into Riku's own.

Hazel could never be like gold.

"Excuse me?!"

"You heard me, I don't need you ruining her happiness after finally getting her back to her old self"

The boy's tone surprised Riku, I never seen you so serious little bro. "I would never hurt her Satoshi" Riku answered his tone serious.

"What ever you say, I was entrusted to protect her by my sister and I'm not planning to break that trust." Satoshi hissed, getting up and putting his bowl in the sink, pouring it down the drain. Before Riku could say his comeback Mio appeared by the stairs, rubbing her eyes cutely. "Good morning" She yawned, making a beeline to the kitchen. Satoshi blushed shyly and Riku stared in awe, Mio didn't notice the tension between them until she sat down. Riku smiled back while Satoshi turned around, turning the faucet on and proceeding to wash his dish. "After we finish eating, we should get going" Mio said, grabbing some toast and jam from the cabinet beside Satoshi. "Do you want me to take you home?" Riku asked when Mio sat next to him, "I was going to walk but since you offered"

"It would be my pleasure Mio-sama" Riku teased, earning a glare from the raven beauty. Satoshi coughed, announcing he was still in the room before sitting down as well. "Why are you guys so serious" Mio whispered in Riku's ear, "Nothing" He whispered back . "If your driving Mio-oneechan then can you drop me off too" The young boy asked, Riku rolled his eyes in response. He knew this was Satoshi's way of 'protecting' Mio, for sure this little promise of his would be annoying but for now he would have to deal with it and hold off any advances on Mio. Things were just starting to fall into place and Satoshi was getting in the way. Don't get him wrong, Riku loved that Satoshi was actually keeping his word but come on! he picked the wrong time to man up! But after all what are little brothers for right!? Riku finished his meal first "Ok after Mio's done will go, in the meantime I'll get ready" he said getting up. Mio and Satoshi nodded, then appeared "And here i thought is was going to drive you guys but I had forgotten that Riku-kun had a car." The woman laughed, preparing herself a cup of coffee. She sipped the beverage before adding some sugar, "You three should get going already, so leave the cleaning to me" She said, looking at Riku. He smiled and a small weight dropped on his heart at his mother's expression, If only I could tell I'm your son but really your daughter. Riku grabbed his stuff and bid his goodbye, "Thank you for letting me stay" Riku said, giving a hug. It was nothing special but what she said back, "Your always welcome here Ritsu" She whispered for only Riku to hear. winked at him and smiled, "How did you know?" He asked releasing her, "A mother knows her child even in disguise" Mio and Satoshi watched they looked at eachother for any clue if the other knew what was going on. Satoshi looked at his watch, it was getting late. "Alright shows over, momsee youlaterI'llbeontimefordinnerBYE!"Satoshiblurted,draggingMioandRikuwithhimoutthe door.
