Chapter 11:
We sat in the woods for a while, watching through the trees as the sun went down. It reminded me of one of my best memories when I was about 14.
"Seb! Wake up!" I said, pushing on the curled up lump in the bed before me. I heard a muffled groan as said lump curled even smaller and I giggled.
"Come on," I whined, "You're gonna miss it!" Soon enough I heard another groan and a mop of light blonde hair appeared out of the bed, piercing blue eyes staring at me.
"What time is it?" he said, his voice still rough with sleep. He glanced over to the clock on his bedside table and tried to bury himself back under the covers after he read that it was about 5 o'clock. I laughed again, grabbing his hand and pulling him up. Eventually I got him standing up before giving him enough time to change out of his T-shirt and shorts into some day clothes. Without another word I pulled him towards the window, ignoring the sound of protest he gave me. Soon enough I had swung myself up off the window ledge and onto the roof, holding out my hand for him to take. Seb simply looked up at me in shock, before shaking his head and coming up, just a lot more carefully than I had done. I helped to pull his lanky frame onto the building before we ran across the roof tiles, him muttering under his breath about how his parents were gonna kill him. I simply ignored him and carried on till we got to the top, with a perfect view of the sky above us. As I settled myself down, sitting next to him we looked at the sky, feeling its peacefulness wash over us. I balanced my head on his shoulder as the sun appeared over the hills, its bright colour shocking the rest of the sky into action. We didn't say anything, just sat hand in hand and watched as the sky got itself ready for the day ahead. Neither of us noticed how long had passed as we sat and stared at the sky, finding the peace in it, that is until we heard the shrill cry of Seb's mother as she realised the room below us was empty.
"SEBASTIAN O'CONNOR! YOU BETTER GET YOUR BUTT BACK DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW OR SO HELP ME…" she started, but we didn't hear the rest as we were too busy laughing. Soon enough Seb stood up, holding out a hand for me, his warm blue eyes shining down at me. I took the hand in mine and stood up, cuddling myself to his warm body in the winter chill that had begun to settle.
I can't remember a more peaceful scene before or after that. But that was a long time ago before my life went down the sinkhole that is death and responsibilities.
Soon enough I was interrupted from my reminiscing by Castiel lightly shaking my shoulder, a kind smile on his face.
"I need to go to a meeting. Wanna tag along? Your Dean will be there so…" Cas said, looking quite awkward after realising what he said. I simply laughed lightly.
"Yeah. And so will your Dean." I replied, making him smile before stopping, realising that probably meant I didn't want to come.
"Yeah I'll come too. It would be boring without me and I can't let you go through that." I finished, nudging Castiel with my shoulder. His face lit up into a grin and he jumped up, full of solemn energy again, like he was when I first saw him. We walked back to the hut I had ran out of to see not only the two Deans but Risa as well. Ooh this was gonna be funny, especially if she mentions what she said earlier again. I grinned at her and she simply stared flatly at me. All right then I won't try to be nice then. She probably still thinks I'm sleeping with Dean. Yeah right. My inner monologue made me start grinning again and Dean had to nudge me to get me to stop looking like a maniac. Once Castiel and I had settled down, as in Castiel collapsed into a creaky old chair with his legs resting on the table, much to Future Dean's annoyance and I leant on the wall next to Dean, future Dean began. I saw a small thud and looked to the table to see future Dean had placed a gun with strange markings on the table. All the people around me stared in awe at the gun and I simply stood there. To me it didn't really look like much, but I guess to them it was pretty damn important.
"So that's it? That's the Colt?" Risa said in awe, staring at the foreign object on the table. The what now? Yeah sure it's a damn fancy gun and it has a cool name but what makes this so important? I looked to Dean or Castiel for answers, but they were too transfixed on the gun. I just slumped and rolled my eyes, hoping someone would explain.
"If anything can kill Lucifer, this is it." Future Dean said. Ahh, that's what's so special. The gun to end the war against the devil. Fantastic. Things were beginning to come together now. I'm sure you can't get one of them very easily.
"Great. Have we got anything that can find Lucifer?" Risa said in a sarcastic tone. Well isn't someone a happy bunny. Future Dean fixed his questioning gaze on Risa and looked at her as you would a deer or a rabbit. Or a lion. Obviously he was scanning through his brain to see what he had done wrong. I doubt he's gonna work it out without a little help. Honestly I just wanna see what this argument is gonna be like. I looked over to Dean next to me and he just grinned lazily, thinking the same as me.
"Are you ok?" Future Dean asked warily. Risa just sent him a look that stated everything plain and clear to see. She looked so unimpressed I'm surprised her face didn't break into dust from the intensity of it. I turned to Dean and gave him a shit eating grin that could rival the smirk on his own face. Dean winked at me and cleared his throat loudly, turning all the attention in the room to him.
"Oh, we were in, uh, Jane's cabin last night. And, apparently, we and...Risa have a connection." Dean said, trying his best to be serious and failing miserably. I was only just keeping myself on my feet next to him, leaning on the wall for support so my knees didn't buckle from my supressed laughter. Risa let free the smallest smirk and I looked over to Cas to see him flat out grinning. The only one who didn't look as impressed was Future Dean. Probably because he had to think of a good excuse to tell Risa. I could tell that Risa really wasn't as wound up about it as she let on.
"You want to shut up?" Future Dean said, his pissed off mood seeping into his voice. Dean just widened his eyes and held his hands up in mock defence. Future Dean just shook himself away as if telling himself it wasn't worth it. I guess it wasn't cause he would only be hurting himself (hah I'm so funny). He turned back to the Colt, rubbing his hand along it gently like it was the most precious thing in the world. To be fair I guess it is.
"We don't have to find Lucifer. We know where he is. The demon that we caught last week, he was one of the big guy's entourage. He knew." Future Dean said, finally giving a reply to Risa's question. I looked up at that. How did he find out? I highly doubt he just overheard a couple of demons talking about it. Unless he got it by force. I had to compress a shudder at that thought. With a glance over to Castiel and the grave look on his face I realised my idea was probably true. Well, isn't that just fantastic?!
"So, a demon tells you where Satan's gonna be, and you just believe it?" Risa said, obviously knowing completely zilch of Dean's past.
If possible Future Dean's look got even more sour and grave and I didn't even dare taking a peak at the man next to me for fear he would throw something. I can only imagine what it is like knowing your future contains none other than this guy.
"Oh, trust me, he wasn't lying." Future Dean said and if possible I tensed up even more. Well that confirms my suspicions. Well that's just freakin' dandy. I chanced a glance over at Dean to see him tensed up as well, his hands in fists at his sides. I moved closer to him to nudge him in the shoulder, a silent communication to calm down. He relaxed the tiniest bit and his hands unclenched.
