The bell rang at the end of the period, and the students stood up as one and began to file out of the room towards the lunch room. Each conversation became lost in the next until the entire hall was a jumble of incoherent noise.

Blake kept her eyes pointed at the ground and kept walking, trying to ignore the inane babble that assaulted her on all sides. She didn't hear Yang shouting her name until she was yelling directly in her ears.

"BLAKE!" Yang shouted, significantly irritated at her lack of response. "HEY, BLAKE!"

Blake snapped her head up and looked around, finding herself face to face with a very beautiful blond, an irritated frown scrawled across her face. "Attend to me, Blake." Yang said, grabbing her hand and pulling her out of the flow of the crowd and into an empty side hall.

"Sorry Yang, I couldn't hear you over all those people." Blake apologized as she admired Yang for the millionth time; Perfect cascading blond hair, smooth and unblemished alabaster skin, and those curves.

She heard Yang talking, but she wasn't really listening. The sun was coming in through a window directly behind her, and the warmth was putting her in a pit of a standing doze. She snapped out of her daze when she heard Yang calling her name.

"Blake, did you just hear a word I just said?" Yang hand leaned down in front of her, and was looking up into her downcast face.

"Hmm? Sorry, no I kinda dozed off for a second there." Blake blinked a couple times and looked and straightened up. "Can I get that one more time?"

Yang rolled her eyes and smiled evilly at Blake. "I really need to get you to pay attention." At that moment her hand darted out and poked Blake squarely in the chest.

"HEY! WHAT THE HELL!" Blake shouted as blood rushed to her face and everything from her ears to her cheeks turned bright red. Blake spluttered angrily as Yang giggled and blushed almost as hard.

"Do I have your attention now?" Yang asked as her giggles subsided.

"Undivided."Blake said, her hands crossed on her breasts, in case there was another assault.

"Good. Now listen, this is important." Yang shifted her weight and leaned against the wall opposite Blake. "We get off for spring break at the end of the week, and Ruby and I are supposed to go out to the coast to visit our parents, it's kind of a family tradition."

"That's fine, I can last here for two weeks on my own." She would miss Yang of course, but she had a mountain of books to keep her occupied, and the time away from Ruby and Wiess would be a blessing.

"Not what I meant…" Yang looked like a kid about to get a new toy. "Our father has had heart problems lately, so he doesn't want to come out to the coast."

Blake blanched as she realized what was happening. "Noooooo." She said slowly.

"-and so we have an extra spot for a fourth person at our beach house." Yang continued grinning like a fiend.

"Noooo. Uh Uh." Blake backed up, but only hit the wall.

"So I was wondering if I could get you to come along and we could spend our break together!" Yang was so happy that Blake really hated to burst her bubble, but she had to.

"Yang, that's a really kind offer, but I really cant."

"Why not?" Yang looked disappointed, but Blake pushed ahead.

"Three reasons mainly," She took a breath before she continued speaking. "One, cat, water, we don't mix well. Two, sand is the bane of my existence, I can't stand the stuff. It gets everywhere and is uncomfortable as hell. And three, did you ever consider that your parents might not be okay with this?" She gestured at them, and kept talking.

"I think that we should be careful, that's all." She sighed and tried to compose her thoughts into coherent speech. "Society has come a long way, for everyone. I should know too, the Faunus have so many more rights than we did even ten years ago, and the same goes for gays, but the world not perfect and it never will be."

She paused and inhaled. Yang was looking at her, puzzlement written all over her expression. "Look, I'm not explaining this well." She tried to start over but before she could say anything Yang interrupted her.

"I understand what you're going for babe, but you haven't met my parents, especially my mom. She's the coolest parent ever. Trust me, if she had no problem with Ruby building Crescent Rose on out kitchen table and cutting a ton of gouges into it, she'll be fine with me sleeping with you."

"You will not, under any circumstance, tell her that we have ever even slept in the same room, let alone bed." Blake felt panic welling up inside her, conditioned from years of having to beware of every person on the street. "She can know were dating, but you can't tell her we've had sex."

Yang laughed, and sighed as if reminiscing. "As soon as she meets you, we'll both be getting drilled with questions about our sex life." She paused, "No pun intended."

Blake laughed, and her nerves had begun to unwind. "Okay, if your moms as cool as you say she is, I'll come, but only under one condition. You will not make me go to the beach." I'll go walking along a wharf, and I'll go to the fish market with you, but I won't go anywhere near the sand." She was adamant about this and would not budge.

Sand, in her experience, was too hot, irritating, got in her hair, under her nails and suck in her fur and ears. Whenever she can into contact with the stuff she invariably spent the next week picking the stuff from out of every orifice.

Yang lit up. "AWESOME! I'm so glad your coming with us." She ran forward and wrapped Blake in a tight hug, and placed a kiss on her nose. "You'll have fun, even if you don't want to."

Yang pulled Blake into the hall, giving instructions about what to bring, and where they would be leaving from, and what the town was like. Blake let herself get caught up in the excitement, and by the end of the day, she was actually looking forward to spring break for the first time that year.

Ruby ran down the platform, trying to keep up with the train as it picked up speed and left the station. Wiess waved out the window and Blake and Yang waved back until the train car cleared the platform and turned out of sight.

Ruby came trotting up, out of breath from chasing down the train and sat down on her suitcase. The air on was hot and humid, and all three of the girls had opted to ditch their heavy battle cloths and instead had donned light summer dresses, with the addition of a sun hat for Blake.

"Hey Yang, when is our train supposed to get here?" Ruby had collapsed on the ground, her arm covering her eyes and her head propped up on her backpack. "I thought we were supposed to leave before Wiess' train."

Yang checked one of the big clocks on the platform, shielding her eyes from the sun as she spoke. "We should only have a few minutes to wait now." Good thing too, she thought as she turned her back to the sun to spare her eyes the discomfort, it was hot as all hell on the platform and she didn't know how long Blake could hold out in this kind of heat. Her long black hair was already stuck to her back, and rivulets of sticky sweat ran down her forehead, matting her bangs to her face. The air conditioned train would be a relief for all of them.

When the train rolled into the station a few minutes later, the three girls hauled their bags into the cool interior, letting out a collective "Ahhhhhh," As the fans pulled the sweat off them.

Yang lifted her bag and shoved it onto the racks above their seats, then turned to Blake to take hers.

"It's fine I got it." Blake said, lifting her bag above her head and forcing it over the edge of the rack and forcing it into place. As her bag cleared her head, it hit the brim of her hat, and as if in slow motion it was knocked from her head and fell to the floor.

All three girls froze in place, and the other inhabitants of the train car starred at Blake, ears fully revealed. Most of them just went back to their laptops after the unveiling, but a few seemed to have a bit more of a problem with it. Underhanded comments that only Blake could hear were shot their way, and an air of malice seemed to fall over them.

It was abated shortly after when Ruby decided that Crescent Rose was well overdue for a good cleaning. Once the 7 foot scythe was on the table between them, there was much less malevolent glaring.

"This is ridicules," yang muttered under her breath as she exchanged glares with a twenty something in an overcoat on the other side of the train car. "People have no problem with cats, and no problem with girls, so why is a cat girl a problem for them." She made direct eye contact with Overcoat and raised her voice. "THEY'RE JUST INTOLERANT BABISE WHO CAN'T BELIVE THAT SOMEONE DIFFERENT FROM THEM COULD BE A HUMAN."

Overcoat looked like he would have loved noting better than to get up and state his piece, but was deterred by a Ruby who had started playing dominos with fifty caliber shells on the table, lining them up and knocking them down over and over.

"Look, Yang, I'm used to it, just calm down and let's talk about something else. It's only a forty minute train ride, and I'm used to people being asses about me." Blake tried to keep her voice down, in her experience, not getting noticed was the best way to avoid trouble.

"That's what I'm worried about," Yang growled through her teeth, "I don't want you to get used to it, I want to fight it."

Blake's heart was filled with warmth, Yang wanted to care for her, every aspect of her, and knowing this made it a hundred times easier to ignore some racist idiot on a train.

The train ride conclude without Yang killing anyone, and when they left the car, Ruby "dropped" a shell into his lap as she left the train, smiling the entire time.

They climbed the stairs down the platform and walked along a single lane road to a mini mart where Yang's mom was supposed to pick them up. Ruby went inside to buy snacks, and Blake and Yang sat down outside on a low brick wall. Blake could hear the ocean, and the wind carried the smell of salt and fish. She took a deep breath of the fresh air and smiled. If there was anything to like about the sea this was it. That and she would get to see Yang in a swimsuit. She shook her head before she got ahead of herself and readjusted her hat.

She looked over at Yang and blushed. Yang had been watching her, chin in her hands and a shadow of a smile on her face.

"What's up?" Blake asked, cocking her head to the side. Yang was leaning forward towards her and Blake was privy to a very alluring view down the front of her dress. She could she down the dress and between her bra, and all the way to her navel. Hot.

Yang smiled wider and her eyes sparkled. "Its jus that you're so beautiful, and I never get to see you out of your battle cloths, it's nice." She pulled her legs onto the wall and sat crossed legged so she could face Blake more easily. "You always wear dark colors, but that dress if really nice on you."

Blake had worn a dress she had borrowed from Wiess for the trip out. It was a single piece of smooth white cloth, tied at the waist with a crimson sash. She didn't like the way it contrasted with her hair, but if Yang liked it that it was ok by her.

Blake smiled earnestly and leaned her head against Yang's. "Thank you. I'm glad I came."

At that moment they heard an exclamation from Ruby as she emerged from the store, arms full of junk food. "MOM!" She dropped her food on a bench and ran over to a red sports car, parked on the far side of the parking lot. The tinted window rolled down and Blake saw Yang's mother for the first time.

She was barely taller than Yang, but she carried herself completely differently. For one thing she was smoking a cigar, something Yang would have never done. She got out of the car and caught a running Ruby in a hug, picking her up as if she weighed nothing.

"Hey baby girl, it's so good to see you!" She swung ruby up into the air with suppressing strength and caught her again.

Ruby laughed as she was swung through the air. "Put me down! Down!" Ruby was set on the ground and fussed over for a minute before she and her mother walked over to Blake and Yang. Yang smiled as her mother approached and got up off the wall.

They embraced and squeezed each other hard, laughing and smiling. "I've missed you mom, it's so good to see you." Yang had her back to Blake, but she could practically hear the smile on her face.

"It's good to see you too hon," She pushed Yang to arms length and made a show of looking her up and down. "Did you get taller since I saw you last?" She asked, cocking a eyebrow. "Because that's not okay you know. I get to be the tallest until your 18, remember?"

Yang laughed, but Blake was too nervous to find it funny. This was the moment of truth, the deciding meeting that she only had one shot at. She hung back until she was spoken to.

"So, you must be Blake." This was it. "I've heard a lot about you, but Yang failed to mention how pretty you were." She extended her hand, "I'm Aymie." Blake shook it, and immediately found her hand locked in a death grip. She was strong.

"So, what's it like dating my daughter?" Aymie asked as she loaded their bags into the trunk of her car.

"W-wha-! How did you know?" Blake stammered, shooting accusing looks at Yang, who held up her hands in mock innocence.

"I didn't," She smiled, and it stuck Blake how much Yang looked like her mother. "But I do now, so spill the beans, I love good gossip."

"Mom! Stop!" Yang pushed her mother's arm playfully as they got in the car.

"Well, if she's anything like me than you have your work cut out for you, am I right." Aymie tossed her cigar butt out the window and gunned the car.

Blake was embarrassed beyond words. She wanted to crawl between the seats and die, never have to look at anyone again. This was so far outside her bubble of comfort it was almost comical. The only person who she could be totally open with was Yang, and Aymie being related to Yang only made it worse.

"Hey mom, can we put the top down?" Ruby asked from the backseat, sandwiched between an utterly embarrassed Blake on one side and a suitcase on the other.

"Sure, just give me a sec." Aymie pressed a button on the dash and the roof began to retract.

"Blake, hat." Yang leaned around the front seat and tapped her head. She didn't want Blake to feel even more awkward.

Blake was done with it, If Aymie could make her feel uncomfortable than she could try as well. "I don't see why it matters anymore Yang, she'll find our eventually."

"Find out what?" Aymie asked, looking at Blake in the rear view mirror.

For response, Blake took off the hat, flipped her hair and let it cascade over her shoulders. As it was caught by the wind, if flipped and flew in all directions, but her ears were fully revealed. She watched Aymie's reaction carefully in the mirror, cautious for any sign of dissent.

"Holy shit! Are those real? You're a Faunus?!" Aymie was staring at Blake raptly in the mirror, and was only startled back to reality when Yang screamed "CAR!" and pulled the wheel towards her, pulling them out of the path of an incoming car. It honked at them as they passed, and unintelligible, but most likely insulting, diatribe spewed from its windows as it passed.

"Yang, why didn't you tell me?" Aymie asked Yang, her eyes on the road this time, "This kind of shits important." Aymie didn't sound angry, but Blake was still waiting for the outcome.

"Because you didn't need to know." Yang said, as calm as she could be. "This conversation is over, and if there's a problem, Blake and I can go back to Beacon."

"No, no I don't have a problem with it," Aymie sounded a little hurt at Yang's coldness, "I just think these are the kind of things you should be able to tell me."

The moment was intense, but was salvaged by Ruby, who chose that moment to offer chips to the occupants of the car.

The car ride behind them, the four women carried their bags up a hill to where the cottage they were staying in was. Ruby and Yang walked in front, with Blake behind them, with Aymie directly behind her. As they walked up the hill, Blake heard Aymie calling to her quietly. She turned and looked back at her, hoping that she didn't want to talk. Unfortunately she did.

"Blake, can I say something t o you?" Blake approached, and Aymie sat on down on her suitcase. "Mind if I smoke?" She asked, revealing a pack of cigarettes in her breast pocket.

"If you don't mind, I would appreciate if you didn't."Blake tried not to sound aggressive, but she wasn't sure if she had pulled it off. "I have a pretty strong sense of smell, and tobacco kinda makes me sick."

"Oh, that's fine, I'll smoke on the balcony while were here." Aymie pushed the pack of smokes out of sight and looked up at Blake. "I'm sorry how I reacted this afternoon, I should have handled that better than I did. I don't want you to think I'm some kind of bigot, I have absolutely nothing against the Faunus."

Blake smiled. "Thanks, but I'm kind of used to people not knowing how to react." She was starting to warm to Aymie. "I'm sorry I didn't break it differently, I was a little passive aggressive, wasn't I?"

"Well, maybe just a little." Aymie laughed, and Blake smiled, a little abashed. "Look, I have to come clean, I was watching you and Yang in the parking lot earlier, and I saw the way she looked at you." Aymie took a breath and continued. "She was all eyes for you, and I remember when I met their father it was the same way."

"I think I understand," Blake said.

"No, you don't, look, I'm mangling my words, okay, let me try again." She ran he fingers through her salt and pepper hair. "I want Yang to be happy more than anything, and if she's happy with you, it's my job as a parent to make sure that I don't fuck it up."

"Thank you, and I do love Yang. More than anything." Blake had no idea why she was telling Aymie this, but it seemed like she deserved to know.

Yang watched Ruby and her mother from the balcony of the cottage. It over looked the sea and she could see them splashing at each other in the shallows. Yang absentmindedly stroked Blake's sleeping head, nestled in her lap.

She was gently woke Blake from her nap, and slid her over onto her lap, wrapping her arms around her waist and buried her nose in her hair. She really liked that jasmine shampoo she used.

"Hey Blake, I want you to look at that hill over there." Yang pointed off to a flat topped hill, covered in grass and small trees.

"I see it." Blake murmured sleepily.

"Now imagine the sky filled with more stars than you've ever seen before." Yang continued, rocking side to side with Blake.

"Mkay." Blake was barely conscious again, the warm sun and rocking lulling her back to sleep.

"Tonight, I want to go there with you, and we can watch the stars." Yang smiled. "And than, I want to make love with you."

Blake looked up and Yang and smiled. "I'm really glad I came now." Yang laughed kissed her, her soft lips lightly touching Blake's, and the tip of her tongue tracing the contours of Blake's lips, tasting her sweep skin, and reveling in the smoothness of it.

"I'll be waiting for tonight." Blake whispered just before she drifted off.

I know, I know I'm a dick, but his was 3500 words of uncontaminated character development and plot and I didn't want to ruin it. Don't freak, I promise the next chapter will have more sex than The Wolf of Wall Street. I've been writing a lot, so I hope the next chapter will be out soon. Have fun my friends, see you soon.
