As the first school year drew to a close, the only things separating the students of Beacon from three months of unmolested relaxation were their final exams. The buzz in the school was a mix of excitement and tension, and everyone could feel the weight of their tests.
The test were to come in two parts, a written final for all their classes, and a practical combat training test, the details of which had yet to be announced. Due to the lack of information about their practical, most students, including the members of team RWBY, turned their attention to the written tests, devoting large amounts of time to study in depth their notes and texts from the entirety of the year.
On this particular evening, the night before their written tests, and three days before their practical, the four girls were all engaged in their method of studying. Wiess sat cross-legged at her desk, reviewing flashcards and reading bullet outlines of her notes from all their classes with classical symphonies playing in her headphones, blocking out the rest of the world. Blake had pulled her feet up on the couch, and was quickly rereading all of their text books, putting sticky notes in the margins and chewing on the end of her hair. Yang was hunched over her desk, glaring daggers and cursing her binder of notes under her breath at frequent intervals while monotonously stabbing a knife into the arm of the chair, and Ruby was sprawled out on the carpet, a pillow under her chin, going through her text book and filling in the o's, q's, R's, A's, g's, and B's, with a sharpie.
The room was quite, save for the scratch of Ruby's pen, and Yang's ominous threats. Yang broke the silence.
"Wiess…" No response, wise still had her headphones on, blocking out all exterior sound.
"Wiess!" Still no reply.
"QUEEN FROST BITCH!" Yang yelled, accompanying the explosion with a knife stabbed into the book open on Wiess's desk.
Wiess shrieked, and jumped out of her chair, her headphones coming to rest around her neck, spewing the threads of a violin solo into the room. Wiess regained her composure and stared coldly at Yang.
"What?" She sat back down in her chair and spun to face Yang.
"I'd say were all done cramming, what do you say?" She wrenched the knife from its sheath in the book and started tossing it between her hands, carving small, elegant arks in the air.
Wiess sighed. "Well, we have been studying for almost," she check her watch, "three and a half hours, and I would like to get a little time to come down before bed.
"Then can I ask you a favor?" Yang plucked the knife out of the air and stowed it in her belt, "Will you take Ruby out to see a movie or something?" Yang put her hands together and looked pleadingly at Wiess, "Just for a few hours?"
Wiess's gaze turned to steel. "You. Are. Not. Having. Sex. In. Our. Room."
Blake snorted from the couch, repressing her laughter through the pages of A Compendium of the Known Creatures of Grimm as Wiess turned her icy glare on her.
"Your just as guilty as she is!"Wiess spat accusatorily at Blake, "It takes two to tango, as I recall, and I would like to point out that we still haven't gotten the stains out of the bathroom carpet!"
Blake laughed harder, dropping the book as gales of laughter hit her and doubled her over on the couch.
"Oh come on Wiess, we just want a few hours privacy," Yang sighed exasperatedly, "The way I see it you have three options," Yang held up a finger, "One, You can take Ruby to a movie." She held up a second finger. "Two, you can pay for us to get a hotel room, since both Blake and I are broker than an Amish programmer." Third finger, "Or three, you can listen to us all night, Ruby will sleep through it, so she'll be fine, but you'll hear everything, and believe me, we have stamina."
Blake could hardly breathe from laughing, and tears were running down her face as she cried in silent hysterics.
Wiess looked down at Ruby, her expression shifting. "So, Ruby, I've been hearing good things about Snow Piercer, wanna go see it with me tonight?"
Ruby nodded fervently and rolled over, pulling on her cape and slipping her feet into her untied boots.
Yang beamed, Giving Blake a double thumbs up as Ruby flicked the safety on Crescent Rose on and off as she headed for the door.
"I will kill both of you in your sleep." Wiess whispered as she escorted Ruby out of the room.
As they left, Yang heard Ruby ask Wiess, "So, Wiess is this a date?"
Yang leaned out of the door as they left down the hall, calling after them. "Remember Wiess, sexual endorphins are supposed to be great for restoring a brain to function at maximum capacity!" Wiess just gave her the finger over the shoulder and kept walking, pushing Ruby ahead of her.
Yang laughed and called out again. "Just think of this as helping us study!"
Yang shut the door, giggling as she did. Before she turned around, she felt Blake's familiar weight fall against her, hanging from her neck as she shook with the lingering spasms of chronic laughter.
"I had no idea you knew about brain chemistry, smarty pants." Blake joked as Yang pulled her up onto her back and carried her to the bed, pushing a stack of books unceremoniously to the floor.
"I don't, I've been sitting on that fact for months, waiting to use it on Wiess." Yang laughed and released her grip on Blake's hips, letting her drop to the bed, where she sat next to her.
Yang pulled off her jacket, and started on the buttons on Blake's shirt.
"Romance is dead." Blake commented as Yang unclipped her bra, pulling it down and unceremoniously pushing her face into Blake's petite breasts.
"What even is foreplay though?" Yang giggled as she worked her hands down Blake's stomach and thighs, her hands resting on her hips again.
"I don't know, but it seems unnecessary." Blake pulled Yang's top off, and unclipped her bra, which was quickly crushed as Blake forced her way on top, rolling over and pinning Yang's wrists, panting as sweat began to run down her back. She planted little kisses on Yang's collar and neck, running her fingers along the curve of her stomach, up between her breasts and to her chin.
They kissed, their tongues intertwining. Yang leaned into Blake, exploring her mouth, hot and sweet. She tasted amazing, like how fresh cut grass smelled: like how a fresh breeze felt. Her insides burned, and her head seemed foggy as she became lost in a sea of lust and heat.
Yang's nether's were slick, and she could feel a tightening ache flex in her painfully empty navel as she looked up at Blake. Yang freed her hands and worked off her skirt, kicking it off her foot, leaving her naked except for her drenched panties.
Blake ran her palm down Yang, pausing just above her underwear. Yang's belly fluttered pleasantly as Blake ran her hand down, stopping on her sweltering sex. Blake rubbed her thumb over the drenched fabric, eliciting excited squeaks form Yang. She broke their kiss, sliding her lips over Yang's flawless skin, down to her breast. She tickled her nipple with the slightest touch of her breath before latching onto it.
Yang shuddered pleasurably against Blake, who began to remove Yang's slick underwear, pulling it down to her knees, and letting Yang kick it the rest if the way off.
Blake ran her fingers over Yang's tight slit, practically quivering with need. She left Yang's breast and resumed their kiss, sucking on her lips as her hand hovered over her. Teasingly, she parted Yang, running a finger between her. Yang moaned in ecstasy, muted through Blake's mouth. Blake slide her fingers back and forth, coating them before gently slipping inside Yang.
Yang inhaled sharply, shuddering slightly before adjusting to Blake. Blake began to slide her fingers deeper, slithering her way into Yang's convulsing heat. Yang breathed heavily, gasping as Blake brushed against sensitized clit, working her fingers inside Yang while keeping their lips glued together.
Yang's sex wrapped around Blake's fingers, pulling her deeper into herself, sweat running down her, sticking their bodies together. Blake quickened her movements in Yang, slipping easily in and out. Yang groaned happily, wet sounds emanating from between her thighs. Blake nipped at Yang's neck, rubbing her clit with her thumb while she moved her fingers in tandem.
Yang arched her back and bucked her hips under Blake's body as she reached tipping point, bolts of pleasure jumping through her body, running from the tips of her toes to the ends of her scalp. Arousal ran down her thighs, and her navel squirmed in delight as Blake churned her insides. She gasped as she came, her walls contracting in quick succession, shooting pure ecstasy through her. Her belly fluttered and quaked through the spasms, riding the pleasure out as Blake kissed her hungrily.
Yang collapsed, breathing heavily, covered in sweat. Blake crawled up on to her, nuzzling her head under Yang's chin.
"Thank you." Yang panted, wrapping her arms around Blake's waist, who practically purred with excitement.
"We need to leave time to clean up before Wiess and Ruby get back." Blake noted as she licked her fingers, sucking on one, than the next. Yang tasted good, she though, sweet and tangy.
"We should," Yang pulled Blake's hand from her mouth and lapped at her palm, "But first I should reciprocate."
Yang rolled her head across the desk, groaning in displeasure. In the front of the class, Blake stretched her hands above head, yawning widely.
"How do you think you did?" Wiess whispered from the row in front of Yang, twisting her hair around her finger,
"I think, that if the practical was anything like that, I'm going kill whoever designed it." Yang muttered sullenly.
"I was doing really well up until the part about Grimm biology, but I was able to infer from the way the questions were phrased that they were mostly asking about weak points to fight them, but I had no idea what to put down for the part of the test that was asking about collective auras, so I just skipped it until I was ready and-"
"Wiess," Yang deadpanned, "Please shut up."
Wiess scowled, turning in her seat. "Fuck you Yang." She commented, resuming turning her hair around her finger.
"Nope," Yang giggled, "Only Blake's aloud to do that."
Wiess just shook her head, staring down to the front of the class, where the teacher had taken a position at the front of the class, waiting for them to cease talking and listen.
"To start with," He began, "Congratulations on finishing your first written final!" He smiled and gave the class a mock round of applause.
"Now I must inform you, unfortunately, that your lives are about to get much harder." He walked to the chalkboard and wrote four words that bought the tension in the class to a point. First Year Practical Test.
Yang inhaled through her teeth excitedly. There had been only rumors of what the test would be, it changed every year, and the upper classmen were under orders not to tell.
"You are about to embark on what if likely to be the most rigorous and dangerous test of your lives to date." The professor leaned against his podium, and crossed his arms, surveying the class.
"This test is designed to establish and reinforce the bonds and cooperation you have established with your four man teams, and strengthen them, as well as extend those bonds to your fellow teams."
He composed himself and dropped the bomb. "For your test this year, you will be split into two groups of 4 four man teams. One group, selected at random, will be dropped at an undisclosed location somewhere in Grimm infested territory, and the second group will be given their location and retrieve them."
The class exploded, cries of mingled outrage, excitement, and a torrent of questions bombarded the professor, who raised his hand for silence. The hubbub died down to conspiratorial murmurings, their attention once again captured.
"I have another announcement, you will not be in your current teams, you will be split into new teams, with your members randomly reassigned." He raised his hand again, but the torrent of angered yells didn't subside this time.
"ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT WE WON'T BE FIGHTING WITH THE TEAMS WE'VE BEEN TRAINING WITH FOR 9 MONTHS!" Yang bellowed above the cacophony, her eyes literally glowing with mirth.
"SCILENCE!" The class jumped, and the teacher lowered the megaphone. Smiling slightly.
"Yes Miss Yang, that is exactly what I am telling you." He pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and regarded while he spoke. "I'm now going to tell you the rules of this venture."
He cleared his throat and continued. Team A will be the ones who have to survive, and team B will be the ones to go retrieve them. As far as gear goes, you are allowed to carry a back no greater than one fifth of your body weight, not including your weapon." He skimmed over the paper again.
"Other than that, there are no rules, other than if one of your team members should die, your entire class fails, I will now tell you your teams."
The class waited with baited breath, waiting to see if they would be separated from their friends and team mates, or weather they would be in teams with people they even knew.
"In group A, the survivalists, There Are 4 teams, first leader is Wiess, commanding Russel, Nora, and Danella, you will be team WRND, or Rend. Your team will be in charge of all operations on your side, I hope your up to it Ms. Schnee."
Wiess swallowed hard and nodded stiffly.
"Second team in group A is lead by Velvet, it'll be team VAIN she'll be in charge of Alfredo, Yang, and Norton." He paused and nodded to the stricken Velvet. "You'll be fine dear, your smarter than all hell and have a cool head."
Velvet hiccupped and looked at her feet, eyes wide and pupils dilated. Yang could actually hear her heart beat from across the room.
"Third group is lead by Sarah, and she'll be heading up Rennaldo, Pyrrha, and Fox. SRPF You'll be team Seraph." He made motion to reassure Sarah, but she was already smiling like a fiend and had her Na'nat on her desk, spinning it in small circles on the polished wood.
The professor nodded, and resumed reading. "The final team in group a will be headed up by Cardin, leading Ruby, Nami-"
"OH FUCK NO!" Ruby erupted, "That ass will not be in charge of me!"
The professor paused for a moment, and considered. "The leader will have to forgo food if you have a shortage Ms. Rose."
"I have no complaints." Ruby sat back down, and looked only mildly irritated.
"The final team lead By Cardin," He continued, only slightly perturbed, "Will be Ruby, Nami, and Jaune, titled CRNG, or Cringe."
Cardin looked distastefully at Ruby and Jaune as the professor started the group B teams.
"Team one and the team in charge of the retrieval Op will be team BSTO, or team Bestow, Lead by Blake, with Sky, Tally, and Osswald."
Blake looked forlornly to Yang. They would be separated for the first half of the test, and it would be dangerous too. They both wised they were in at least the same group.
"Team two will be team REDM, or Redeem, and will be led by Rin, leading Eli, Dove, and Mason.
The four members assed each other as he moved on, "Team three is team CRES, or team Caress. Led by Coco, with Robert, Emma, and Skyler," he paused and looked up, "and in case you were wondering, yes, putting all the healers and supportive students on the same team was intentional."
The class laughed. They respected their healers, even if they couldn't fight, they were the backbone of any combative unit, and all the students knew it.
"The final team is team RYCM, or Reclaim. Ricky will be in charge, leading Yatsuhashi, Cynthia, and Mina."
He finished reading and returned the paper to his pocket, leaving only an uncomfortable silence.
"You have unrestricted access to both the supply closets and armory." He pulled a watch from his pocket and checked it. "I suggest you pack now, your transport ships depart in 5 hours."
He smiled. "You'll receive the rest of the information once you board your planes," He chuckled and walked towards the door. "As a helpful hint, Pack for the cold." Then he left.
