I'm SO sorry for the late update. I meant to do this in at least September. I'm just beginning to run out of ideas for this story. Even so, my updates are slow for all of my stories. I've been packed with play rehearsals and homework. I think I have an idea for this, so please bear with me. Also, there's a part where she says that Quirell woke her up in the last chapter. Earlier, Snape mentioned finding her. Snape and Dumbledore were the ones that woke her up. Quirell was sent to wake her up, but she was already gone.

Emmie's POV

I'm awoken in the middle of the night by a howl. The sound rips through the darkness, cutting through me like I'm made of butter.

"No, no, no, no!" I wail, trying to block out the noise by curling into a ball and covering my ears. I can feel my body shaking.

A werewolf. There's a werewolf here, at Hogwarts. I wonder if I know it. It's out there. It could be killing people. I jump out of bed and race out of the dormitory. I'm not sure what I'm going to do if I find it. It doesn't take me five minutes to get outside.

The noise stops.

I'm already running when I slam into somebody.

I try to keep running, but he holds me back. "Let go of me!"

"Quiet!" It's an unfamiliar voice, kind of raspy.

"Who are you?"

I get a clear view of him now. He's balding slightly and has a rat-like face, not to mention the missing finger. "My name is Peter Pettigrew. I'm here for-"

"No! You were dead! You did this to him! Sirius told me!"

"I'm here to help you. Your father will rise again. This is your last chance to help him or he will not forgive you."

"You make it sound like I care what he thinks about me."

"You should. Otherwise he will kill you without a second's thought."

"I'd like to see him try."

He shakes his head. "Idiot girl."

"Oh, am I?" I raise my wand so that it's pointing at his face. "I have to turn you in after what you've done." That's when he transforms into a rat. "Scabbers?" He squeaks and scuttles away. "You've got to be bloody kidding me."

I turn away. There's nothing I can do.

The next day I go to Lupin's office. He's doing something I didn't expect. He's packing.

"Professor?"

"Emmie! Sorry, I wasn't expecting anyone."

"Oh. What are you doing?"

"It would seem that somebody let it slip that I was a werewolf."

"That was you?"

He pauses before nodding.

"I didn't know." I stare at him.

"I'm still the same person."

"I know it's just… When I was little, my dad had werewolves working for him. They used to watch me. When I was five, one of them attacked me. He almost ripped my arm off. He thought I'd never join their cause. Father still had some hope, so he killed him. Ever since then…"

"Ah. I understand. A traumatic experience can keep anyone from accepting something."

"Yeah."

"Well, I suppose that's all the more reason that I should go."

"I don't want you to."

"I know, but I think it's best if I leave before the complaints are sent in. We wouldn't want to give Hogwarts a bad name."

"I guess." I run forward and hug him. "I'm going to miss you."

"You'll see me again."

"And Sirius?"

"He escaped. You'll see him soon." I smile.

"That's good."

"Yes. That's good."

I turn to leave but he stops me. "Emmie, I need to know. You're father… It would be impossible for you to be the age you are now. What happened?"

I hear the sounds of screaming. I'm eight now, and he walks into the room where he's locked me. "Emily."

"Get away from me!"

"EMILY!" His cold voice freezes me. A man runs into the room, but with a flash of green light, he kills him. "Emily, come." I shake my head, but he raises him wand.

I begin to shake with fear. He wordlessly sends me floating towards him. I try to scream but I can't.

He drops me to the floor at his feet. He pulls me roughly to my feet. "Father, please!"

"Silence! I'm not going to hurt you, you idiot girl." He drags me behind him until we reach another room. He throws me inside. My back slams painfully against the wall.

"FRIGIDUS TEMPUS!" He cries. A white light hurtles toward me and then I blink.

A man is standing over me. I flinch, thinking it's Father. It's not. The man has long white hair and a long beard. His half crescent glasses rest on the bridge of his nose.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Albus Dumbledore. Who are you?"

My eyes widen slightly at the name. "I'm Emily. Please, sir, is my father here? I don't want him to hurt you."

"Who is he?"

I bite my lip. Maybe if I don't call him what everyone else does, he won't hate me. "Tom Riddle."

"Tom..."

My eyes widen in fear. "You knew my father?"

"I taught him. And I know who he became."

I nod silently.

"Did you agree with your father?"

I shake my head.

"Neither did I. Then how would you like a new name? One to help you forget the past."

"I'd like that."

"How about a nickname?"

"As long as he'd disapprove."

"My dear, he's been gone for years now."

"He's dead?"

"That's a matter for debate." I smile slightly. He's gone.

"How about Emmie. He never liked it, and it's not as elegant as Emily."

He smiles. "Emmie it is, then. Come, I'd like to show you something."

"What?"

"Hogwarts."

Two Years Later

I walk along the beach of the lake. I wonder if I'll ever see the squid. Third year. It hasn't been bad. Relatively peaceful compared to last year. For the first time, I consider what it would've been like if I'd have sided with him. I don't want to know.

"It's official." I say to myself before I throw the rock into the water. "The Ministry said it was official. He's back."

"I'm sorry."

"I'm fine. I knew you weren't lying. The Ministry's just a bunch of gits."

"Yeah."

"I know that it's hard for you."

"Emmie…"

"Yeah?"

"It's Sirius." I freeze.

"What about him? Nothing happened, right?"

"Emmie… He's dead." My heart stops. "Bellatrix Lestrange killed him."

"No. He can't be dead. It's Sirius. How can he be dead?"

"Emmie." His voice cracks. I turn and hug him, sobbing into his shirt. Sirius was always more of a father to me than anyone. He was the same to Harry. He hugs me back as he struggles not to cry. I can feel that it's not working.

"Harry, I'm so sorry."

"Me too."

We stay there for a while, to scared to move. So scared that if we take a step we'll both shatter. Not once do I consider that as an option. Sirius would want me to fight, so I will.

Sirius wanted me to stay fighting for them all, so I'll make him proud. I'll make them all wish they never killed him. I'm going to fight the most powerful sorcerer in the world. I'm going to destroy my father.

"Let's fight."

He looks down at me. "Fight?"

"Let's kill Voldemort."

"Emmie-"

"I don't care. I want him dead."

He stares at me for a long moment. "Where are you going this summer?"

"I don't know. I can't go back to the orphanage. Dumbledore won't let me stay with him."

He pauses, thinking for a moment. "Why don't you stay with me?"

"What about your aunt and uncle. They're muggles."

"They'll deal. All I have to do is threaten to turn them into frogs."

I giggle. "Nice."

"Thanks."

We come through the wall to where his aunt and uncle are waiting.

"Who's she?" An extremely large boy behind them says.

"This is-"

"I'm Emmie. Call me Emily if you like, I don't mind."

They can't even fake a smile.

"She your girlfriend?" The boy sneers.

The thought makes me burst out laughing, which startles all of them. After I manage to stifle my giggling, I take a breath. "I'm sorry. Just… he's two years older than me. Anyways, that would just be weird." Harry smiles at me.

"I invited her to stay with us."

"There it is." I mutter under my breath.

"Well she most certainly cannot!"

"Why not, sir?" I use the formality, knowing that it wins over most adults.

"Well… you're…" He splutters.

"Magical?" I whisper. "Yeah, I suppose. I promise you now though, I won't use a single spell, and if you'd like, I'll tell you embarrassing stories about Harry."

The boy perks up. He'll get them on my side, so I add:

"Great blackmail."

"Mum! What could be the harm?"

"Now, Dudley-"

"Mummy! Please!" Harry and I glance at each other. It's so hard to hide our smirks.

"I'll stay under the stairs if you'd like."

"You're not staying! Absolutely not!"

"Alright. Maybe Ron will take me."

"Why don't your parents take you?"

"Well, it's quite simple. I don't have a mum, and my father won't take me."

"Why not?"

"He's Voldemort."

Her face goes paler than Nearly-Headless Nick. "I-I… I d-don't think that y-you should…"

"I understand. You wouldn't want him coming after you. I'll go to Ron." I turn back to the barrier. Petunia lets out an exasperated sigh and looks at Dudley.

"Mummy…"

"Fine! Stay with us. You won't be aloud to practice magic. You'll pretend to be Harry's cousin from Leadworth."

I nod. As soon as they turn away, Harry and I grin at each other. He's never had someone spend the summer with him, only spent some of it with Ron.

We're going to drive them crazy.
