NEXT UP! Well, battle arcs are going to be hard, I imagine. But, that's why I started this project in the first place, to see how much NaLu I could steep from the manga, so yep. Here it goes.

We're continuing with the Happy Chronicles, because I don't want to write Everloo (shudders).

I don't own Fairy Tail.

When Natsu said to him "I leave Lucy to you" there was a lot of confidence there. It was a weighted thing; a heavy burden put on his wings but Happy didn't really feel it at all because he felt light. Light-headed, light-footed, and lighthearted. Because Lucy was important and getting put in charge of her made him feel important too; like the world was counting on him and the sky was on his shoulders and if he slipped even a little, if the sky so much as dipped towards the ground, then the world would go careening off its axis. It didn't matter that Happy's entire world was quite small indeed; there was his immediate family, Natsu, and his slightly more extended family in Fairy Tail – he was going to protect the little niche he'd made for himself. That Natsu had made for them.

His entire world was a little shack, barely a house, that sat primly and humbly on the outskirts of a beloved and loving town of Magnolia, where the aura surrounding everyone and everything rarely darkened past a realist-overcast and never to a pessimist-black. His entire world was trod into cobblestone streets, laced in words and whispers and the shouts at the guild, threaded into the banner that hung high above the place he loved second to none and stamped, proven, worn, and proud on his back.

Happy's entire world, his most immediate focus, for the longest time, hadn't consisted of anyone except for Natsu; but now as Happy looked back, glancing at the set shoulders and lanky, confident stance of his brother, father, and best friend, Happy suddenly saw a window where the locks were left unlatched more often than not, where there was always an assortment of some kind of fish in the freezer and boxes upon boxes of matches in the drawer next to the sink. He saw a bed quilted in pink, a chest of letters no bigger than his arm width, a quill always near ink, a trash container overflowing with torn, crumpled, scratched out papers, a novel never finished, and a sigh of exasperation that came with hands on hips through smiling lips and laughing eyes.

"Welcome home," the sigh said, "welcome home, thanks for coming back safely."

It suddenly occurred to Happy, as he flew at Natsu's bequest, that maybe his world had grown a bit when him and his partner had grabbed the hand of that brown-eyed laughing girl named Lucy.

Just Lucy.

Which was fine for now, but Happy had always wanted a sister, mother, and second-best friend.

Less NaLu centric, more Happy centric, but I had the idea and rolled with it. I swear there's NaLu if you squint.

AND THIS IS ADORABLE. At least I think it is. Tell me what you think of it?

Oh, and if you ever see something I don't in a chapter, let me know. I may write Parts Second for some of these.

R&R Please!
