"So, how do I look?" Alice asked as she twirled around.

She couldn't do much with her hair but she was wearing a sparkly head band that stood out against her dark hair. The shirt hung loosely but was still flattering. The jeans hugged her in all the right places.

"I'm glad you like it." She gushed before giving me a quick kiss and heading downstairs to meet the others.

I heard two cars start up and leave. Carlisle had left an hour ago and now it was just Esme and I. I heard her humming downstairs. We had never had a real interaction; Alice had always been there and had spoken for me.

I didn't want to stay in my room all day but I didn't want to go downstairs either. Lately Esme seemed to be emitting more pity and fear when I was around her. I still hadn't told anyone besides Alice I was an empath but I had suspicions that Edward knew something. He always seemed to have a calm demeanor when I was around, too calm to be normal. Alice wouldn't want me to stay up here all day; she'd want me to at least leave the room.

I heard Esme leave the house and decided I would have to leave now or I would lose my nerve. Alice had left the door open when she left and I peered around the door way. I knew that there was no one in the house but I wasn't willing to risk it. I slowly left the room carefully observed my surroundings. I'd studied them before but now that I wasn't being watched I could look even closer. The hallway was bright with a large window at one end with light colored paint that reflected the light. The hall way also had four plain doors and a more ornate one that lead to Carlisle's study. The only exit up here if the stairs were blocked was the window.

I continued down the hall to the stairs which opened up to the downstairs area. I took a quick look around before going down the stairs. The main floor was mostly open with a couple walls separating the kitchen from the rest of the floor. Why they had a kitchen was beyond me. They would never use it and I doubt they would ever invite humans over. The main floor was brighter than the hallway due to the large windows on every wall and French doors that lead to a deck on the back side of the house. Esme emerged from a shed off to the left of the house carrying a rake.

The house was in the middle of a clearing with large trees surrounding it on all sides. Trees that had dropped their leaves all over the yard. She started raking the leaves at a human pace, when she looked up and noticing me, smiled before returning to the leaves. I watched her for another few minutes before joining her outside.
