AN: *sigh* I'm having some trouble again. I'm starting to lose some inspiration (and my english is getting worse). Suggestions are REALLY welcome right now.

A crescent moon dawned the night of the Slifer Red dorm. The wind howled as Jaden rested at his favourite double deck bed. His black shirt rustled while his shoes kicked the sheets.

The sound of the crisp plastic being opened didn't bother his fidgety rest.

"Hey, Jay! I found some rare cards." The blue haired boy sitting on the floor flashed the cards to Jaden.

Jaden's eyes were closed but his ears were wide awake. "Hurrah…." He punched the air weakly. Enthusiasm faded to fatigue.

"Rubibi~" The carbuncle appeared, her eyes on the rare cards.

Johan laughed quietly. "You like them, too?" He glanced to his left shoulder, eyeing the little creature. He set the cards in his hands. He was recruiting new cards that he could add-up to his Gem Beast deck. Ones that would actually compliment the deck's swarm style.

"Cobra-sensei will explain this bracelet-thing to us tomorrow right?" Johan was asking while he scanned the cards.

No response was given at first. "Hope so."

"Kurikuri!" A chant of aggressiveness wafted through the room.

Jaden went out of bed the second it was intoned. He glared at the door which had a little window in it. "Who's there?!"

The other guy in the room quickly looked to his back, glaring at the door.

There was a silhouette of somebody unidentifiable. Was it a girl? A boy? Or was it even human? Before anyone could even take a minute's glance, it ran to the right.

'Tsk.' Jaden got frustrated. "We're tailing it!" He grabbed nothing and waited for nobody.

"Hey wait!" Johan scrambled to his feet.

A person was hanging against gravity with wires tied up on his right leg. The ocean beneath him doesn't arouse the perception of death in him.

"Son." His father's voice echoed within his memory. "Life is a battle."

He remembered his little self with his father sitting on two separate logs with a campfire lit in the middle. "If you treat it so," His father pushed the firewood with a stick. "You'll be ready for any situations. Either life or death." The firewood burned slowly but surely.

His eyes were closed as he recalled the words. The golden pendant he was wearing was on the verge of falling. He didn't care.

He was calm. He knows that if he doesn't twitch or move about, nothing would fall. Thus, no movement was made. He remained upside down, eyes closed, arms crossed on his chest and left leg suspended as is.

There was little to see at night. Especially when you're in a forest. The dark didn't help anybody ran with exception to someone who was running away from Jaden and Johan.

'Fast bastard.' Jaden clicked his tongue. The lack of light didn't seem to bother him. He eyed on the pursuer like he was accustomed to it. His running, too. He was ahead of Johan for maybe some meters. You could even say that he was nearer to the pursued than he was to Johan. The way he brushed the trees off like he didn't care also said that he was used to pursuing someone. Or maybe used to running away.

Jaden was already closing in. But even then, he can't picture who it is. It had the body of a human, yes, but that's it. The ones they were chasing didn't look back to see if he/she was being pursued. It just ran.

The last thing the figure did was push a large branch away. The branch, then, made its way to Jaden's face.

He blocked; or maybe caught it with his hand. 'That sly fox!' It bent like a twig.

Jaden ran and was finally out in the open. There was nothing. Just a tree that was suspended over a cliff and someone hanging upside down. 'This guy is….'

Johan finally caught up, inhaling all the air he could get. "I-" He breathed-in shortly. "-told you to wait." He sounded like he was about to die.

He noticed that Jaden was staring at something. Someone, actually.

The unnamed guy was hanging upside down, right leg tied with a strand of rope that was attached to a cylindrical contraption in a size of a dagger hilt. It was hitched to the tree's branch.

The guy opened his eyes, alerted by the intruders. The device pulled the rope up, in response to the sudden movement, and so was the person tied with it. With quick hands, he pulled out a knife, slashed the rope and thrust his body into his destined landing spot before the cylindrical thing screws his right foot.

His landing was perfect. He rolled to lessen the impact of his landing and came crouching as soon as he stopped. It was something a trained soldier would exactly do.

Both Jaden and anonymous took their sweet time glaring at each other.

"He isn't the one we're after, Jaden."

'You don't say?' He was still killing the unidentified with a look. "You must be Austin O'Brien."

O'Brien deepened his menacing stare. He stood up, revealing his muscular build. He wore a black sleeveless vest with two pockets in both sides of the part chest while having a red tank top as an undershirt. His golden pendant was a ring with wing-like figures and three rectangular prisms dangling at the bottom.

"Get out of my territory." It was a threat. Something that would usually work on wimps.

"Let's go, Jay." Johan followed the threat. But that doesn't mean it worked on him. "We don't have any business here."

Jaden took a second glance at Johan then back to O'Brien. "Have you seen anyone pass by here?" He had no ill intent behind the question.

The soldier didn't answer a word. Just shot Jaden with dagger-like eyes. It must have been enough of an answer.

The Slifer slacker scratched his head like he was trying to lay low. He made a turn, going back to the forest. "You know, soldiers are humans, too." He said it on a whim. Not addressing it to anyone.

Johan followed just after staring at O'Brien. After that, it's like nothing happened.

Both guys were walking at the same pace. "You knew O'Brien?"

"A student hailing from west academy. Right-hand man to Professor Cobra. A trained soldier." Information never seemed scarce to Jaden. 'Has a father who was also a soldier.'

Johan whistled in amazement. "You know your stuff~"

Jaden snorted like it was just the beginning. "You should go back to your dorm, Johan. It's getting pretty late." He glanced at the moon that was high above.

The other did the same. "I thought so, too." He took his time. The wind was blowing gentle on their whole body.

"Guess I'll be seeing you at tomorrow's assembly." He started to make a fist that was pointed to Jaden's shoulders.

"Yeah." Jaden punched it making a bro-fist.

Johan waved as he slowly walked away. 'Why can't I have a peaceful life?' Exhaling all his problems away.

Jaden let the seconds pass before giving judgement.

"It's about time to show-up," The peaceful atmosphere Jaden had vaporized like water to air. "Three spies -tachi." His voice became deeper.

The trees around him rustled and one by one, men in white cloaks appeared with stealth. Jaden didn't need to look at them. He knew they were hostile and he'll show the same. But at the current situation, he was at a disadvantage. No weapons, no red jacket. Just his deck.

"Isn't this unfair?" He was smiling. "Fighting an unarmed student, I mean." Like a wolf that found its game.

The lot didn't answer. Instead, they brought out daggers meant for assassinations. They weren't just spies, they were assassins. But in Jaden's eyes, they were unlucky victims of brainwash.

"Be gentle," Jaden said with a hint of sarcasm. "Malicious Edge."

Behind one of the assailants were red-gleaming eyes and a grinning face. Its needles slashed across the back of the spy's cloak. The damage was real. No hologram was in play.

On the other hand, Jaden dashed forward to another enemy with nothing but his fist. The first lightning hit was at the abdomen. The guy reacted with pain all over his stomach like he was ready to throw-up. He bent down, letting go of the blade. The second hit was, then, an elbow to the spinal cord as the spy was bent down. Two hits and viola, a knock out.

Two of the three interlopers were now out cold. One was left with jaws down to the gutter. "…." He was moving backwards, one step at a time.

"It's useless." Jaden warned as Malicious Edge pinned the person down to the ground. "If you want to get out of here uninjured, you'll have to answer to some of my questions."

As soon as Jaden settled. He asked away. "WHERE's your lot hiding? WHO sent you here?" The questions were back to back. He didn't ask 'why' since he already knows the reason.

Jaden was looking down at the assailant who was breathing painfully for some reason. "Argghh…." It sounded like it was suppressing pain.

'This is-?!' Jaden was alerted by the sudden behavior. "Damn!" Malicious Edge vanished as Jaden shook the enemy by the shoulder. "Hey! Don't lose sanity on me, damn it! You haven't answered my questions!"

The remaining assassin DID answer. A huge laugh large enough to be heard by the whole island. "YOU'LL NEVER WIN! NEVER!" It was throwing tantrums like it was being possessed.

Then, the assassin started to look older, aging faster than time could offer. It grabbed Jaden's black shirt weakly. "Help…." It was a feeble voice. "…me…" Its hands slipped as it said its final words.

The body, as Jaden held it, felt cold like a corpse left for cremation. '...' He put it down gently and saw the other two withering with the same method the first one did with exception to the laughing part.

'Damn it.' He was clenching hard that his hands were already bleeding. Silent, he stood as the three corpse surround him. He couldn't do anything more.
