The fire was creeping up on them as the clock on the bomb ticked to the final second.

'This isn't going to be the end,' Robin reminded himself, 'We're going to rescue this world,'

Robin unlatched his cape and quickly grabbed Kid Flash by the arm. He draped the black and yellow over both of their heads as the bomb gave off a warning of four beeps. Hugged together tight, both boys held their breath.

Boom!

Wind whipped around the two, as they plummeted down to the ground. They landed with a thud, as the cloak unraveled and the boys rolled out of the safety of fireproof material.

Robin released a huff of air as he stared up at the sky. Ashes fell like snow, the smoke creating wispy clouds.

"We won, KF," The black haired boy laughed without humor.

"We sure did," The ginger replied pulling down his yellow cowl.

Both had singed legs, the fabric burned off and shriveling up. The grass was turning a dark brown, and the moon was hidden by the smoke. Little sparks of fire rained down, sparkling as they sung. Giant chunks of metal were lying around from the destroyed ship and robots lay uselessly on the ground. The partners were covered head to toe in dark material, their lungs on fire.

"Wait," Robin sat up abruptly while coughing, "Where's Miss M and Manhunter?"

Surveying the ruined scenery, the pair saw no movement except for the swaying of crisped trees.

The younger boy was first to stand up. On uneasy limbs he stumbled around the site searching for at least a sign that the Martians were here. None.

"It doesn't make sense," He mumbled resting his burned holo-glove on an upright piece of the spacecraft.

"Um, Rob?" The red head scratched his head as he looked between the younger and the new arrival.

"Yes Wally?" Robin turned towards his friend only to see what the other was showing.

There before them was an exact replica of the ship they just destroyed. Androids crawled out of the entrance, an army of them soon forming around the boys.

Barely able to stand, the two put on strong fronts, and lazy fighting stances. The machines seemed to chirp, amused at them. With the challenge that faced to bots, they began approaching them with excitement.

"Rob, just so you know, it was nice knowing you," Wally shouted to the coal haired boy, as he slammed his fist into the top of the gray offender.

"You too, KF," He responded, "you too,"

The two had wrecked at least twenty of them now. Their movements began slowing, becoming more sluggish by the moment.

Suddenly, they were enveloped in a blinding white light. Robin looked down at his hand watching as the color faded, presently colorless.

"Goodbye Dick," Wally stated his words jumbled .

The speedster soon evaporated not a trace of him left. Dick was soon to follow, spiraling into oblivion.

The ebony haired boy woke up with a start. Cold metal was underneath him, taunting him. He lifted up his left arm, seeing his holo-glove still intact. With confused eyes, he glanced up. He was in Mount Justice.

'But Mount Justice is gone!' He panicked in his head, 'Is this the afterlife?'

"Robin," the deep gravelly voice of his mentor spoke.

His eyes darted over everyone in the room.

Artemis? Artemis was dead. So were Kalder and Conner. Wally was standing next to his uncle, with his suit tearless. Miss. Martian? She stood slouched in her pink skirt.

He screwed his masked eyes tightly again.

This wasn't possible.

They were alive.

Did a quick one-shot about Failsafe cause why not? It's so anticlimactic it's hilarious.
