Where There's a King There's Always a Queen
Ch5: Once an enemy Not always an enemy
"In the past the great pharaoh considered me and Bakura enemies of Egypt. But since he hardly remembers anything about his past maybe I can use that to my advantage." Lieghl'ah said. She walked through a quiet part of the city with Akilah on her shoulder. "I don't like the pharaoh but in order to get Bakura back to the way he was I'm going to need his help." Akilah flew off, Lieghl'ah didn't want her to be seen.
~With Yugi and the others~
"Hey guys look, it's that's girl from Duke's party." Tristan exclaimed as a woman with long raven hair and green eyes approached the group.
"Good afternoon friends." She said in greeting.
"Hello." Yugi said simply.
She smiled at him, "May I have a word with the pharaoh?" She wondered.
"How did you…" Yugi was lost for words.
"There are many things I know about your other self young one." Lieghl'ah stated. Suddenly the Millennium puzzle began to glow and the young man was replaced with ancient ruler himself.
"May I help you Miss…?" Atem cut himself off he couldn't finish because he didn't know her name.
"Lieghl'ah, call me Lieghl'ah." The woman stated her name.
"What is it that you want from me, Lieghl'ah?" The pharaoh wondered.
"I'm not after your puzzle if that's what you're asking. I need your help." Lieghl'ah explained.
"You need our help with what?" Joey asked.
"It's going to take awhile to explain everything." Lieghl'ah replied.
"Well, we have nothing to do or anywhere to go, so tell us, what it is that you need our assistance with Lieghl'ah?" Atem inquired.
~Two Hours Later~
"Okay let me get this straight, you're saying that you need our help to rescue Bakura because he's possessed by this evil spirit called Zorc?" Joey wondered.
"Yes." Lieghl'ah stated.
"That's crazy, absolutely nuts." Joey raved.
"Yeah, there's no way that that bastard has a good side." Duke announced.
"Totally." Tristan agreed.
"You don't understand, the Bakura I'm referring to is not the same Bakura you're thinking about." Lieghl'ah tried to explain.
"Whatever." Joey rolled his eyes.
"No let her speak Joey, please continue Lieghl'ah." Atem urged.
"My Bakura is the King of Thieves. Your Bakura is the human embodiment of Zorc the dark one." Lieghl'ah explained.
"What?" The group exclaimed.
"It's true, when you went back in time and defeated Zorc you only destroyed that part of him, but the human embodiment of Zorc remained. He controls the body of my Bakura. You saw him and fought the spirit of Zorc; you didn't see him and fought the Bakura I know."
"So you're saying that he was possessed by Zorc during the time that we fought in the past?" Atem questioned.
"Yes. You have to believe me; the Bakura I know wouldn't want anything to do with that monstrosity. He had hatred in his heart for your father because he destroyed his village Kul Elna and that's how Zorc was able to enter his heart and soul. My Bakura wasn't like the way he is now until Zorc got a hold of him. Please pharaoh, please help me free him and destroy Zorc once and for all." Lieghl'ah pleaded.
"I will Lieghl'ah. Rest assured that I will defeat Zorc and spare the man you love from the darkness." The pharaoh vowed.
"Thank you." A tear ran down Lieghl'ah's cheek for the first time in centuries.
"Pharaoh are you out of your mind? We can't trust her, for all we know she's working with Zorc!" Joey stated.
"Yeah, she's an enemy just as much as the spirit of the ring is!" Duke exclaimed.
"She pure trouble!" Tristan added.
"Would you three shut up? How can you three be so heartless, if she was with him she would've tried to take the Millennium Puzzle." Tea announced.
"Tea, would you think for a second? She putting on act until she has us right where she wants us and that's when she'll make her move." Joey said.
"I see that I've displeased your company your majesty, I'll leave now." Lieghl'ah's heart swelled up with sorrow as she rose from her seat to take her leave.
"Wait Lieghl'ah," The pharaoh grabbed her arm, Lieghl'ah looked at him, "You must forgive my friends, they are little untrusting because of all the things that the spirit of the ring has put us through. Please try to be patient with them." The pharaoh said.
"Yes of course." Lieghl'ah smiled at the pharaoh's kindness.
"You three should be ashamed of yourselves." The pharaoh turned to his friends.
"You're right Atem. I'm sorry Lieghl'ah that was really ungentlemanly of me." Joey apologized.
"I'm sorry too." Tristan said.
"Me three, I'm sorry." Duke rubbed the back of his head as he spoke.
"Apologizes accepted." Lieghl'ah said.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go save the world!" Tea cheered.
The group and their new friend agreed, "Yeah!"
