Where There's a King There's Always a Queen
Ch8: Free Falling to the Past
"This is it, watch out Zorc, I will get Touzoku back and I swear to Ra that I'll make you regret taking him away from me, mark my words." Lieghl'ah vowed seriously inside her personal thoughts.
"Hey guys, what is that?" Duke asked as he pointed out the window. Everyone shifted in their seats to look in the direction that Duke was pointing in. There was a figure obscured by a heavy wind that blew sand everywhere which blocked any clear sight of the person or thing standing in front of the sanctuary. Once the sand cleared the group gasped and moved away from the side of the car that the creature was on.
"IT'S ZORC!" Tristan, Duke, and Joey screamed in unison as they spazzed out away from the window.
"How could he possibly have gotten here before us?" Marik wondered as he and Odion stared at the "man" in fear.
"I'm not sure." Lieghl'ah said as she calmly got out of the car, with the others right behind her.
"You got lucky last time my dear, but not this time. All the friends in the world won't protect you or stop me from getting the information I want." Zorc stated as he jabbed a finger towards Lieghl'ah.
"You want answers that badly?" Lieghl'ah got an idea, "Alright I'll make you a deal, let's duel. If you win I'll give you all the information you want, but if I win you'll have to wait 'til we're in the past to get the answers that you seek. Far enough?" Lieghl'ah proposed.
"CRAZY MEDJIA DON'T KNOW WHAT SHE DOIN' SAY WHAT?" Joey and Tristan looked at Lieghl'ah like she done lost her mind.
"Lieghl'ah don't do this?" Yugi called to the Medjia.
"You don't have to do this, there has to be some other way." Odion said.
"Odion's right Lieghl'ah, it's not necessary for you to duel him." Ishizu stated.
"Just relax guys, I know what I'm doin'. I'm not afraid of him" Lieghl'ah gave the group assuring smile than declared her nonexistent fear as she looked at Zorc, "So whatcha say Zorc, you up to it?" Lieghl'ah pulled her most deadly deck from her back jeans pocket.
Zorc remained silent and looked Lieghl'ah over, weighing out his chances of winning, he had a really good gut feeling that he could easily beat her, but he had to be careful, Medjia's were known for their deadly and merciless fight tactics, she would be no different. He grinned, "Okay, you're on."
"Oh man I can't watch." Marik groaned as his face dropped into his hand. The two duelists shuffled their decks, placed them in their duel disk.
"I'll begin." Zorc stated as he drew his hand then a card that would begin his turn.
"You'll need a head start." Lieghl'ah teased as Zorc looked over his hand.
"I'll play this one monster in defense mode and end my turn. Now let's see what you got my dear." Zorc smirked at the girl.
"First I'll play this spell card, Stop Defense, which switches your face-down defense monster to face-up attack position, and then I'll play this, Element Magician in attack mode, who has an attack power of 1500." The monster that Zorc had played was Wall of Illusion which has an attack power 1000, " Oh sure, she seems weak, but her lack of attack power is backed up by her special ability, when she destroys an enemy's monster in result of battle she's automatically allowed to attack again. Element Magician, wipe out his Wall of Illusion, Elemental thunder!" The monster disappeared from the field as the Element Magician put up her hands towards the wall and a loud rumble of thunder echoed and the wall vibrated, "Now your life points are mine, Element Magician attack him directly with Mage Whirlwind!" Element Magician did direct damage so Zorc's life points went from 4000 to 2500.
"And I'll play this one card face down and end my turn." Lieghl'ah played one final card and waited for Zorc to make his move.
"I'll play this, Regenerating Mummy with the attack power of 1800, more than enough to bury your magician. Mummy attack her magician!"
Lieghl'ah smirked, "Not so fast, I activate the trap card Magic Cylinder. This card negates one attack of my enemy's monster, and this card inflicts damage to my enemy's life points directly instead of my monster, the damage is equal to the opposing monster's attack points." Lieghl'ah activated her hidden card.
"Damn it. I end my turn." Zorc hissed.
"Oh she is good." Marik stared.
"That was pretty slick. I bet she had that planned all along." Yugi said.
"I play Marshmallon in attack mode with an attack power of 300." Lieghl'ah said. A marsh-mellow shaped creature appeared on the field.
"Is she serious?" Tristan and Duke gaped at the card that the girl played.
"Come on Lieghl'ah, that's not funny." Tea declared.
"What does she think she's doing playing with that cutesy deck?" Joey wondered aloud.
"Don't underestimate her deck Joey, fairies might not seem like much, but play them in just the right way and they can be very dangerous." Yugi stated, defending Lieghl'ah deck.
"I'm not done yet. I sacrifice my Element Magician and my Marshmallon to summon my Guardian Angel Joan with an attack power of 2800. Attack his rotting corpse with Holy Flare Flash!" Lieghl'ah pointed at the moaning mummy, "Now Joan's power activates, when she destroys a monster in battle she grants me life points equal to that destroyed monster's attack points." Lieghl'ah life points went from 4000 to 5800, Zorc's points went from 2500 to 1500.
"Hmm. It seems that the girl has a lot more skill than I original thought. I'll have to be careful." Zorc said to himself, "I'll play this one card face down and end my turn." He finished his turn aloud.
"Alright my turn and I play the card Hidden Choice, this card allows me to pick any monster from my opponent's deck and it's removed from the game permanently, no questions asked. Sorry, but I'm not going to allow you to summon Dark NecroFear, you little sneak."
"What! How did you…?" Zorc was surprised that she caught on to his strategy even the pharaoh had no idea what he was up to when he used this strategy against him in Battle City.
"You're not the only one who tried to duel me with this strategy. I knew what you were up to the moment you played your first card."
"She's really good." Marik and Odion stated.
"You little bitch." Zorc growled.
"Now I summon Dancing Fairy with the attack power of 1700." Three cute little fairies appeared around Lieghl'ah, "Finish him off girls with Pixie Rose Waltz." A fairy dust rain shower surrounded Zorc as his life points reached zero.
"Did she just win?" Duke gaped.
"Now what was that you said about my cutesy deck, Joey?" Lieghl'ah asked looking smugly over shoulder at the blond.
"Um… nothin'." Joey stated.
"That's what I thought you said." Lieghl'ah said. She looked at Zorc across from her, "We had a deal Zorc, you're not getting any information from me."
"I remember the deal." Zorc scowled. Suddenly the Ring flashed and a golden glow left Bakura's body and entered the sanctuary. The man collapsed.
"He left." Lieghl'ah ran to the man who was now Ryou.
"We'll take care of him pharaoh, please go and complete your mission. Save another innocent soul from the darkness." Ishizu lifted Ryou's head up onto her lap.
"I will," Atem smiled at the woman then looked at Lieghl'ah, "I never break my promises."
"Thank you." Lieghl'ah smiled.
"I wonder why Zorc dueled so sloppily, he didn't duel like that at Battle City." Tea said.
"No matter who you are there always someone better, Tea." Odion stated.
"True." Tea agreed.
"Well, let's not waste anymore time, we have to stop Zorc before he causes any serious damage." Atem said.
"Yes, let's go." Lieghl'ah got up.
"Wait pharaoh, may I come?" Marik asked.
"Of course." The pharaoh answered.
The group followed Lieghl'ah down the stairs of the sanctuary as the remaining TombKeepers remained with Ryou. The gang stopped in front of the Tablet of Memories.
Atem held up his three Egyptian God cards to the tablet, "Here we go again." Joey said unexcited. The Millennium Puzzle began to glow and the pharaoh disappeared into the void.
"Great, now how are we supposed to follow him?" Marik wondered.
"Perhaps I can help." A voice said in the room. Shadi appeared through a wall to the group's right. Shadi walked into the light, the light that shined down the stairs and into the room from the outside, from the darkness.
"Shadi, it's good to see you." Lieghl'ah smiled.
"Likewise ." Shadi said with a grin. Shadi had the group join hands and focus their energy. And then they entered the puzzle.
"Whoa, this place looks a lot different from last time." Tristan stated.
"This is a reflection of the pharaoh's mind, since he gained some of his memory from the first time you all traveled to the past this reflection of him changed and the door that you all need to find has moved from its recent place to a different location." Shadi explained.
~With the pharaoh~
Atem opened his eyes slowly to find himself lying in a bed adorned with silk sheets and fine, fluffy pillows. Pillars at the corners of the bed held up a sheer covering over the bed. The room was decorated with fine furniture, bowls of incents were placed scattered throughout the room. Candles were softly glowing. It was in the middle of the night. He was back at the palace as the great pharaoh.
~With the others~
"Guys over here I found it." Yugi called over his shoulder to the group that was separately searching with their hearts to hear the pharaoh's call to them.
"You found the door?" Duke asked. The others reached the host of the pharaoh.
"Yeah I heard the pharaoh calling me." Yugi opened the door and the group followed him in. The group saw a large gash in the room which had a desert, a village a world on the other side of it, on the other side far below them, hundreds of feet below them.
"Lieghl'ah, I must tell you, when you enter the world below us you will return to your body like the pharaoh and the tomb robber." Shadi announced.
"I figured that was the case." Lieghl'ah sighed.
"Verily well then, I must go, I wish you all the best of luck." Shadi said then disappeared as if he wasn't even there.
Marik, Yugi, and Lieghl'ah walked over to the edge and looked down; all three got a mischievous grin, looked at each other, ran back to the other side of the room, ran at top speed and jumped off the edge.
"Great, two more suicidal nutcases." Joey groaned as the remaining four copied the missing three's actions. Yugi had jumped off the edge the first time like it was nothing, not even the tiniest shred of fear entered him.
Lieghl'ah loved the feeling of free falling, she was known as a adrenaline phonetic among the thieves bands. She didn't care that's what she lived for excitement, adventure, a rush. She looked down below her as she descended to earth with the others and smiled at the world she had not seen in over five thousand years. "Hang on Touzoku I'm coming. I already let Zorc take you away from me once and I'm not going to let him take you away from me again."
To Be Continued…
The deck that Lieghl'ah's used is based on my actual deck. I used the strategy that I kicked my cousin's ass with.
The Hidden Choice card is a card I made up.
