Hal's ring was pulsing a light green light as if he was asking his ring to play hot and cold. The advanced city they were in now a distant memory in the dirt clouded savannah they trekked now. Hal's ring held its energy about it as they approached a small crevice below their feet. Hal looked down, "well I guess we're going down."
Kilowog let out a grunt of disapproval, "there's no way I'm fitting down there."
"I don't think we all need to go anyway," Razer rolled his eyes. "I'll go and bring back our target."
"Are you sure? I'll go with you," Hal said creating a green light around himself.
"If it's a trap I'll let you know," Razer let out a soft sigh and descended down the crevice.
By the time his feet touched the uneven bottom it was so dark that everything was cast with a red glow. He hadn't thought about the fact that his ring wouldn't be able to pick up on the green lantern signal, luckily the cavern only expanded in one direction. He ran his gloves across the rough walls. After walking forward wrapped in the red light for an extended period of time Razer began to hope the signal wasn't a mistake. He paused and let his light fade away and listened for any sound of life. He stood there in the darkness for a moment waiting, until he heard the short shallow breath of someone crying.
At least there was someone at the end of this forsaken tunnel. He cast the red light about him once more and continued on his way. Finally the tunnel gave and opened to a wide and the appearance was, for a moment, breathtaking. The ceiling was laced delicately with light blue and white flecks that emitted a light glow, enough to possibly make the sky jealous. Razer looked about but didn't see anyone so again he listened and followed the light sound over to a pile of fallen rocks. He stared the structure up and down and found a gap to where he could peer inside.
Razer saw a young child somehow perfectly trapped inside but he couldn't see if the child was pinned down. "Are you alright?" Razer asked softly. His tone didn't stop the boy from letting out a 'yip' in surprise but the shock was fleeting and the kid let out a small, "yes."
"I'm here to save you," Razer said determined though the child didn't seem quite assured by his presence.
